Sadly, Dr Greenwald retired this year. I hope he taught a lot of doctors how to be as excellent as…read morehe was. Here is the original review from 2012! Dr. Greenwald has been my neurologist for 20 years. When I first started visiting him we both had hair now neither of us has much left. Dr. Greenwald is professional and very knowledgeable. I've never had a visit with him where I felt rushed, hurried or anything less than cared for as a patient and as a person. It's really a shame that every doctor is not like him in manner. Dr. Greenwald has always been "on the money" between being authoritative, practical and honest all in one and I much appreciate that. He will talk with me in as deep and technical language as I can follow or as simple as I would like. He is careful to be sure I understand. He has never been dismissive or condescending. He also has a great sense of humor. In a recent visit he was trying to remember the name of a place I was asking him about and he said "I think I need a neurologist". If you need a neurologist, I really don't think you could do better than Dr. G. Lastly, another reviewer commented how they had to wait for an hour. I've never had to wait more than about 15 minutes for my appointments with him, so it may have been an anomaly.

Dr. Greenwald may have recently retired (happily for him). He has delivered cautious, comprehensive…read more and thoughtful care to me for many years. He is funny, clearly very sharp, and will do everything he can to support healing and with what are often complicated neurological conditions. He really does care so much about his patients and brings a welcome wry wit to treatments too. Dr Greenwald has a great staff surrounding him ( *Carla, moving heaven & earth to get patients what they need) at PAMF. If he does retire, the team at the neurology department at Mountain View PAMF are strong too.

After a bad experience at a large provider, I was fortunate to find Dr. Ostashko at Los Altos…read moreNeurology. While he reached the same conclusion as the other doctor, the way he explained the results--with clarity, context, and genuine care--completely changed my outlook. He has supported me throughout recovery by monitoring my progress, adjusting treatment as needed, clearly explaining test results, and, when medically appropriate, advocating on my behalf. His office is responsive, efficient, and easy to work with, and I can access appointment summaries, prescriptions, and invoices through a secure online portal. The difference between his care and that of big providers is night and day. If you want a neurologist who combines medical expertise with compassion and insight, Dr. Ostashko is outstanding.

During the office exam he asked me many leading questions but I never felt like he listened to my answers. He seemed to want to convince me that I was stressed out. He also seemed to want to convince me that I have a very healthy brain based on a recent MRI and that he could find nothing physically wrong with me. He told me my issues were likely due to something called Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). He referred me to Stanford's website where I found out that this is the newest name for what was historically called Hysteria in women, AKA Conversion Disorder. See Stanford website: https://med.stanford.edu/psychiatry/patient_care/fnd.html I compare this to taking your car to the mechanic and after only checking the fluid levels in the engine, they tell you nothing is wrong with your car, you just need to sign up for driving lessons. Who would go to a mechanic with such a shallow understanding of a car? I don't believe I could have ever received an accurate diagnosis with this doctor. I went to another neurologist and as it turns out, I have a very serious and physical neurological disease, one that requires medication and medical attention.

About two years ago I was diagnosed with light to moderate CSVD (cerebral small vessel disease, over 11 brain lesions - basically loss of small blood vessels in the brain from an MRI brain scan. Very scary when first disclosed. This coincided with dizzy spells and lightheadedness that I had been experiencing. I have had lots of tests to rule out many other conditions such as heart, blood tests, etc. and they found nothing wrong. Even with all these other tests done, she refused to consider that my disequilibrium spells were related to the CSVD condition, she said it's just part of normal aging and has just refused to authorize a follow up MRI to monitor the progression of this potentially very serious brain condition. One data point is never good and I really need a follow up scan to see how this potentially very serious brain condition is progressing. It's really odd that she has almost all 5 star reviews (out of about 45) on one Google review site but on Yelp and other review sites I found, she has much worse reviews, averaging only about a very poor 2.6/5.
