Denver steak, foul smell and color (completely gray)

I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of meat I received here. I purchased two of the same cuts at the same time, handled them properly, and refrigerated them within 10 minutes of purchase. One piece was clearly fine, while the other was noticeably brown/black in color and smelled sour as soon as I opened the package. The difference between the two cuts was obvious. One looked fresh and red, the other looked oxidized and off. Meat should never have such a stark color difference, especially if you buy it at the same time and if it came in the same packaging. This wasn't an issue of storage or handling on my end. The meat was bad when sold, and that raises serious concerns about quality control and food safety. Given the price point and expectations of a butcher-style shop, this is unacceptable.

This place has a great selection of meats. The prices are comparable if not cheaper than the grocery market and quality is better! Will definitely be returning! They even had a fresh cooked jalapeño popper burger they let us sample and it was perfect! I don't like spicy and it was perfect! Thank you! Pics below so you can see what they have. They also have sides you can bake with your meat for a quick meal!

First time in, butcher's and staff were super friendly and helped me with picking out a prime rib to toss on the smoker. Place has an old school vibe, like something out of a movie (in a good way) seemed to be a lot of return customers walking in, the staff knew people's names and that was cool to see.

An example that I'm not lying about the tips from last year.

Adam at Dixie meats is the biggest slime ball in St George!!! Last year(2024)) he Illegally held tips from all workers and told them he will pay them end of the year, which did not happen. He also talks negatively about his son( calls him a "F" face amongst other things) and wife(calls her slutty and all types of derogatory remarks) to his employees all the time and the employees don't have any HR to file complaints too. I was harassed there and made out to look like a problem. Hopefully someday Adams lies, unprofessionalism and disrespect for everyone, including his own family eventually catches up to him. I do not recommend bringing your family to an establishment that the owner will say 5 things negative about you right after you make your purchase and are out the door.

Definitely a go-to for top quality meats, delicious housemade sausage, and the best beef jerky ever! Our favorite jerky is the original and the dill pickle. Worth spending my hard earned dollars in this shop. Oh, they also have a selection of heat and eat prepared foods, and the guys are friendly and give top notch service!

Ask the Community - Dixie Meats

Do they have brisket? If so, what is cost per lb?

They Do, but I'm not aware of the current price.

Is the beef grass fed or from a CAFO?

Why do you want grass fed beef? It doesn't taste as good. OK, I get that it is a little bit more healthy, in theory, than beef with more fat marbling. So, if you are looking for grass fed beef don't pay extra at a butcher shop, buy it at Wallyworld…

We've spent hundreds of dollars at Red Mountain Market. Sadly, a few days ago, I was rudely confronted by the cashier, who I believe may have been the owner, Todd Muse. I came to the store to shop and ask a question about something I may have lost near the counter the other day (a pack of Hormel meals). However, no one was even at the register when I went in. Next thing I know, the cashier come sover and starts telling me I need to leave the bags in the front of the store. He then boxes me in and corners me there near the entrance like I'm some ruffian out to rob the place. I understand that businesses have policies to protect themselves from theft and loss. That's not really the issue. The issue was the way I was approached and made to feel as though I was doing something wrong simply by walking into the store with bags. I was treated like I was some kind of thief or a criminal for coming in with bags and looking at some protein noodles in an aisle of the store. I had come there as a paying customer, not as someone looking to cause trouble. And I can't shake this feeling that I was treated differently because of the way I look. That feeling became even worse when I read another review complaining about being treated differently in this store by an individual matching the description of the cashier because of a similar reason. I then asked about the item I thought I may have left behind a few days earlier. Instead of looking, checking, or even seeming willing to help, my question was immediately dismissed with, "Well, there's nothing we can do at this point." That really bothered me. I wasn't asking anyone to perform an exhaustive search. I was simply asking whether something might have been turned in or left near the register. It would've taken two seconds for the cashier to turn his head and look over the counter to see if my package of Hormel meals was still there. He couldn't even do that. It felt like he just wanted me out. So, I left. I left without spending another cent. And I never intend to spend another cent there. What makes the experience especially disappointing is that my family had become regular customers. We've spent hundreds of dollars there over the past several weeks. We specifically chose to support this small local business rather than automatically going to Walmart or Smith's. There were products we bought so frequently that we would joke that we were the reason they kept selling out. You know, if he hadn't treated me like that, I probably would've purchased all the protein noodles rather than ordering them on Amazon the next day. I probably would've continued to buy out the Hebrew National hotdogs and buy my wife the Red Button ice cream she loves. But no more. I don't expect special treatment because I've spent money there. I do, however, expect to be treated like a valued customer rather than with suspicion and dismissal. I strongly believe in supporting local businesses. But supporting local has to work both ways. Customers should also feel welcomed, appreciated, and treated with basic courtesy. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable shopping at Red Mountain Market.

We went to the St. George location on Saturday morning, January 31st at 9:30 AM. While the store itself is beautiful, the poor customer service persisted. My husband, who had a full cart including a corn dog, asked an employee in the deli for mustard packets. The employee immediately questioned if my husband was making a purchase. After confirming he was, the deli worker had to ask a woman in the back, who seemed unwilling to provide them. He finally handed over two packets, explaining rudely that people sometimes ask for ten mayonnaise packets. It was an unnecessarily rude interaction over a simple request, and we will not be shopping at Lin's again. We aren't asking for exceptional service, just a baseline of respect and kindness. Personal job dissatisfaction is understandable, but it's unprofessional to let it affect interactions with the public, such individuals should consider roles that don't involve direct customer contact.
