We wandered into this place because we were eating at the place next door. It ended up being the highlight of our trip! The quality of everything is excellent, and the prices are great. We got flap steak for tacos, bacon, and sausages. All were amazing. The bestest thing was the jerky. My friend says it's the best beef jerky she's ever had. You should definitely stop by, and if you're going to be visiting the area for a few days, you should buy all your meat here instead of at the grocery store. read more

I've lived over on the east side of Washington, UT for just over a year now and have heard good things about Dixie Meats. I found myself on Bluff this morning with some extra time so I went up the few blocks to check out Dixie Meats. I bought a couple pounds of hamburger and a mild Italian sausage. I cooked up the sausage tonight and it was really good with just the right bit of 'bite' and a nice meaty texture. I'll got back for more for sure. Tomorrow, hamburger supreme! When I asked Adam whether they did anything with turkey, he looked at me like I had two heads. "You haven't had our turkey?" Needless to say, I decided to try their turkey.....they clean, prep, and season the turkey...put it in a cooking bag...put the turkey/bag in a large metal bowl and seal it with two layers of foil. You cook the turkey in the bowl with the foil on for 12 hours at 250 degrees. Upon removal from the oven, the meat falls off of the bones. The flavor is great! The meat is juicy. There is plenty of juice in the cooking bag to make gravy if desired. This is a great way to have turkey unless you want the carving the turkey show....I won't be fixing turkey the 'old' way again. These birds are so popular, you'll need to order early for the holidays(as in weeks). read more

Found Dixie Meat on-line and sourced a NY Strip steak from the best quality seller in St. George. The steak was tremendously tender and full of solid beef flavor. OK - go to Smith's or WalMart if mass produced, bland tasting meat is OK for you. Go to Dixie for a treat that will raise your level of what a wonderful dinner a steak can be. Talk about a sausage fest! This guy knows how to handle his meat! Ok. Im done with the meat jokes. If you're cooking, grilling, or just need meat to feed that chained up cannibalistic zombie in your basement, this is the only place you should be shopping. Grocery stores packacge their meat, tell you its fresh, but come on. As Tommy Boy once said "I can c*** in a box and label it guaranteed if it helps you sleep at night, I got time" But this guy gets up at the butt crack of dawn and seriously cuts the meats himself, hand makes sausages, and even marinates stuff. Why would you waste money on something you "think" might be fresh, and ultimately tastes ... meh, ok.? Especially when you can walk into Dixie Meats and not only get a fresh cut of meat, but you're getting quality thats better than any steak joint in all of St George. It definitely is a really nice thing to have a friendly butcher in town! Not a very huge selection of meats at the store, but courteous staff and prices are a little high. Overall, our experience at Dixie Meats was delightful, I will definitely be looking into getting stocked up on some meat when it becomes case lot time! They also accept EBT. read more

We have been going to Dixie Meats since they opened. I have 3 young kids and generally they aren't big meat eaters but the pizza brat with the kids favorite ranch we get from there is a crowd pleaser every single time. I have bought meatloaf, carne asada, steak, chicken breasts, bacon, and the amazing pies. Some might feel it's on the pricey side, but you are paying for high quality meat, not that stuff you get in the grocery store. This is quality stuff. I just bought a pack of johnsonville brats and they were so oily and greasy and tasted processed. Also they have these huge pork steaks that (when brined and seasoned correctly) are awesome. We love this place!! The marinated Carne Asada is to die for as are the sausages and brats that are made in house! The chicken breasts are perfectly trimmed, and juicy every time. The most amazing thing to me is the ground beef. He will ground it right in front of you with the exact meat to fat ratio that you are looking for. He also guarantees that it is single animal meat meaning that your ground beef came from one source NOT a bunch of different animals. Of course it is a little pricer than a grocery store, but it is worth every penny. Also ask about bulk sales, we purchased 40 pounds of chicken breasts and it was like $1.60 a pound! read more
