This is my second time coming to DH Hair for a hair cut. The first experience was awesome! Got a wash from the owner's daughter which was also kind of his translator. I liked her, she was as friendly and chatted it up with me. I've been wanting to do something with my hair for some time. It's long AF and I needed a little change but wasn't ready for a drastic change. So I got a trim and took off a little over 6 inches. I told his daughter I wanted it layered a little but keeping the length with long curtain bangs and definitely no bold cuts. She translated it to him and it turned out exactly what I wanted. I was charged $50 back then. My hair has been irritating me. Getting in my way, stuck in car doors and windows, people laying on it or sitting in it... I wanted it gone. I even made an appointment a couple of months ago. I was quoted $60 but unfortunately I had lost my wallet so all I had as firm of payment was Apple Pay and they didn't accept it. Today was the day. No appointment. Just walked right in. There was no one in the salon, just the owner. I was ready to make that drastic change and this was the day. My hair was passed my waist and the tip of it passed my buttocks. Though i wanted it completely off, I requested it to be cut to a little longer than shoulder length and tapered a little, no bold cuts. I wanted a long Bob basically. But in the end, though I got the length that I requested, the cut was not actually up to par. It's boldly cut... it feels like it's poking me. Lol it's flat and no volume. I would've told him to taper it more but, I was afraid he wouldn't understand me with the language barrier. I was charged $70 today. Guess he raises his price every few months. read more

This was my second and last time ever going to DJ Hair. I went to a beauty salon hoping to get a foot cut. Because barbers don't know how to cut properly. I was cut and "styled" by David. The first time was a decent experience. He still over trimmed my edges the first time. I took accountability that maybe I didn't express my desires look enough to them. So the second time around I explicitly told Hannah (receptionist) and David that I did not want him to edge me up in the front at all. I mentioned it 3+ times before starting the cut. I also told them several times I was growing my hair out to have the desired look in photo #2 and other additional photos of the similar look. They assured me and nodded. I assumed we were in agreement and understanding. David doesn't speak much English so Hannah translates for him. That didn't bother me any as long as he did a good job. This time he was rushing. I thought it was because of his years of experience that he moves fast. Ended up he was rushing to get to his next client who was already waiting on the hair wash station. Both visits there he ends up "styling", if you could even call it that, in this high up curly look. When you see the desired photo reference, it is not at all what I was wanting. I let it go and thought, "I'll just style it myself at home". Confidently thinking that high top length would lay down. It didn't. And upon further inspection he did a rachet job on my entire edge up. Even the back was slanted. Also the top of the right side is longer than the other. Luckily for me, I have barbering and scissor experience with my own equipment. They knew about this too. They knew I knew what to look for and still did this hatchet job on me. SMH. I immediately had to fix every aspect of the cut. Now it looks better, that's to me! However, it's NOT what I wanted. It's not what I took almost two months of hair growing to end up back to square one. Ridiculous!!! This salon should NOT be cutting men's hair if they don't have enough training or patience to do the job right the first time. I should have to go home and fix it myself after paying a premium. I called them the next day and told them of my discovery. Hannah asked, "what did I expect, I came in for a haircut". Hello, I showed you photos and told you both I wanted a trim only and to leave it long. I also requested a full refund including the tip I gave. She did complied and sent it via zelle. Thanks for that. You get two stars from me there. It goes without saying, I'LL NEVER BE BACK AGAIN! Back to growing my hair out and cutting my own hair again. read more

I've used DJ Hair since they first came into business and, coming back from a two-and-a-half year stint of growing out my hair during college, made the decision to trust David with restyling it for me. I have long, curly hair and usually am very particular with who I let handle it, so I made it clear I wanted it cut at about shoulder length and to retain most of its length while trimming down the sides. Despite showing him an image of what style I wanted, clearly pointing out the length I wanted cut, having a family member translate what I said to clearly get it across, re-showing the image, and doing everything short of getting out of the chair and doing the cut myself, David proceeded to cut my hair into what can only be described as a long mullet with a bowl cut in the back instead of the expected tail - that is to say, neither anywhere near what I wanted nor anywhere near a good-looking cut on its own. Rather than walking out with at least close to the same amount of hair on my head, I had to leave with a hackjob buzz cut, the only way to salvage what he did, and over two years of effort wasted. While that level of an error is unforgivable on its own, the reason I've returned to write such a negative review is because of how fundamentally, unexplainably terrible every aspect of the cut was. Ignoring his lack of communication and ignorance of my request(s), the initial cut he gave me was atrocious. The style I'm assuming he picked (no clue what he was actually going for despite us asking what he was thinking) is unsuitable for curly hair. With how he left things, the long hair left on the top of my head would poof back up rather than sitting flat in the part he envisioned and result in something more like Doc Brown from Back to the Future if he got a poorly-done fade versus whatever middle part/perm-style part he was going for. His follow-up buzz was, once again, suited for straight hair SPECIFICALLY. With the way he left it, my curls poofed back up into some sort of ghastly rectangular block and did NOT sit flat in its part as he intended the style to look. He very clearly had no clue what he was doing, which would've been fine IF he had stated that in the first place and offered a trim instead of exacting his own vision without my consent. If it was any one error alone, the length mistake, the lack of communication EVEN DURING THE RE-DO, the fundamental lack of knowledge about hair textures beyond straight hair, even the fact that he looked at the abomination(s) he was carving into my hair during any step of the process and thought "This looks good enough to be seen in public!", I would still leave a 1-star review and never return. But David's screw-up here was so colossal, so fundamentally flawed, and so downright unprofessional that I want to document it here and actively discourage anyone who cares about their hair from using this establishment ever. I am disappointed, upset, violated, and regret ever setting foot back here. Neither me nor my family intend to ever make that mistake again. read more

He cut my hair to exact length that I wanted and the way he styled my hair is beautiful as well. Trusting the other reviews, I came here looking for a change in my look. I had long hair that was breaking and had loads of split ends towards the bottom. I showed David a photo of what I was looking for and he accommodated it to the best of his ability to my hair. He cut my hair in layers and styled it by curling it.
