She also brought up my tipping history, even though I typically leave around a 15% tip. I found this incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing. Tipping is supposed to be voluntary, and no customer should be made to feel guilty or pressured into giving more. If the salon believes its employees deserve higher compensation, that should be addressed through its pricing or pay structure--not by confronting customers about the amount they choose to tip. The nail technician did a nice job, but the owner's comments completely overshadowed the experience. I left feeling pressured instead of appreciated, and unfortunately I won't be returning.
