I had forgotten to tell him that our cocktail hour would be outside so he did not have the necessary equipment with him, but he quickly adapted and made it work so we had music during the cocktail hour. Many of our guests mentioned how much they enjoyed the DJ and the energy level he brought to the dance floor. I would use DJ NJAM again if I ever needed him and would recommend him without hesitation. My only criticism would be the music was a bit loud during dinner, but that always seems to be the case at most weddings I've attended.

The kids were requesting songs and he wasn't playing them. When he did play some more current songs they said it wasn't stuff they could dance to really. He also played the same song 3 times (twice in a mix and once in entirety) during the 4 hour party. The majority of the teens were not interested in being on the dance floor and spent almost the entire evening outside in the parking lot of the event venue. I was extraordinarily confused when I found that the only review he had on yelp was so negative...so I called him to ask about it. He explained to me that the reason behind it was that after multiple conversations about the possibility of a "snow date" (due to the event being in January) the previous reviewer refused to set up an alternative. Sure enough, there was a huge snow storm which prevented safe travel to the venue. Every vendor includes this possibility in their contracts and everyone of them has the same policy, not refundable but they can reschedule using their previous deposit. Multiple vendors cancelled the event due to this snow storm, including the venue itself. All of this information was obtained through DJ Face CT, so of course I only have 1 side of the story. But I can tell you this: We booked DJ Face CT for our wedding, with very little notice, and he did an absolutely amazing job. He showed up on time, set up quickly, and had a perfect presence. He was out of the way when it was not his time to perform, coordinated well with all the other vendors, and extremely respectful to everyone. And then it was his time to perform. He brought the energy of our event straight to the top. Starting with the horah, he got everyone out of their seats, dancing and celebrating. We took a break from the high energy for dinner where he provided excellent ambient music. And then his true talent was able to shine through. DJ Face CT read the crowd like a book, as easily as a elementary school level one. We had a small event in a house and we were concerned that due to the limited space people would not dance. We were 100% wrong, DJ Face kept everyone on the dance floor with perfect flow, switching genres as the crowd needed. Literally everyone was dancing. He was able to slow the party down for our "first" dance and bring it right back to high energy after. He did all of this with almost no input from us. Due to the short notice (we were planning to make our own playlists....bad idea...) We gave him only 2 songs (our first dance and a request from the grooms father) and a short list of genres we liked. He filled in the rest using his expertise. As we began communicating with him on different aspects he was a bit slow to respond at first but we let it go. Some weeks later we got an email from Gigmasters saying that DJ Face CT was no longer a member of their site. (more on this later) We assumed he had gotten popular and no longer needed to rely on their service to bring him leads so he stopped using them to save himself whatever their fees were. We weren't too concerned. But we wanted to make sure our original agreement was still in force and asked Jovan to send over a contract outside of Gigmasters so we had something in writing saying what we paid, what services we are getting for our fee and the date of the event. I think he responded a few days later to this and said he would send something over. A while went by, no contract. Had to chase him a couple more times before he actually responded and sent a contract over. Frustrating, but we had our contract and thought we were still moving forward with this vendor. Fast forward another few weeks and we talk to him about meeting him at a local Starbucks to go over some details and discuss the elements we want to incorporate in our party. We agree to a date and time at a Starbucks that is close to both of us as we live very close to him. It was close enough that he literally could walk to the location if his car broke down. Still despite a nice convenient place to meet he didn't make it for some reason. Why didn't he make it? I have no idea.....HE'S NOT RESPONDED TO US AT ALL!!! This meeting was supposed to be on Tuesday, it is now Saturday and despite texting him on 2 different numbers, emailing his business email and Gigmasters trying to contact him by phone and email there's been not a peep from him. We have since gotten our deposit refunded by Gigmasters and have moved onto another vendor. If you are reading this and you booked through Gigmasters give them a call and they will refund you, they've been wonderful. Oh, remember that bit about him being off Gigmasters? Gigmasters told us it was because he was completely unresponsive to other folks as well and seeing some of the reviews on Yelp I can see it is a systemic issue with him. They said people that went through with using him were generally pretty happy with his service when he showed up but getting him to respond/show up seems to be the hard part. At our first meeting he inspired confidence that he could handle any style of ceremony and reception. He communicated with us throughout the entirety of our planning period, constantly offering his assistance in any way he could. His website is completely interactive making it very easy to plan every aspect of your event (speeches, first dances, cake cutting, ceremonies etc.), and to add songs for all situations. On the day of our wedding, the event flowed seamlessly through the DJ booth. My wife and I did not use a wedding planner or a "day of" coordinator and made all of the decisions ourselves. That said, the day of the wedding we simply handed a printed walkthrough that we created to Hector, and he followed it to a T, taking away any stresses that we could have had. He also had the entire ceremony mic'd up, and worked with our videographer to capture good audio for our wedding video. Throughout all of the preparation and constant MCing, Hector still managed to run a photobooth for 2 hours during the reception. The photobooth itself was very high tech and classy, allowing guests to have the photo montage sent to their phone/email or printed. Hector was a godsend, and he is a MUST HAVE for any wedding or event that requires DJ service.
