Throughout the entire process, Vaughn was communicative - he asked our preferences early, took into account any playlists we shared, and hopped onto a call the week before to finalize our requests. My lovely wife and I had Von DJ our wedding and he was seriously amazing! My wife works in the event industry and had seen Von at work a few times before, and immediately thought of him when we were looking for a DJ. Not that I don't trust her, but I wanted to do a little research, and after listening to 5 minutes of his soundcloud I could tell he was really talented. He has a diverse and vast knowledge of music, and was super helpful in the planning/lead up to the wedding. He even took a kinda 'tinny' YouTube audio song and did some magic to make it sound way more high quality for the processional song. He was amazing at reading a room, and did an amazing job with pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner music, and the all-important dance party. Beyond being a seriously talented DJ, he's also a wonderful person and was great to have around our wedding. He showed up real early to make sure everything was setup and was an overall calming/positive force. Really don't know what else to say, he's a great choice for DJing any event you have! He's obviously been in the music scene for a long time and loves music, but doesn't have any ego that sometimes comes along with being a talented artist. I cannot recommend DJ Von highly enough - he is amazing! After extensive research, I can say without a doubt that he is the best DJ out there. Not only does he know how to get - and keep - people on the dance floor, but he is extremely knowledgeable and was able to ensure that all sound and music throughout our entire wedding day was executed flawlessly. As our wedding was a mix of Turkish and California cultures, we had quite a few particular needs - between a mix of American/Turkish/European music, adding live percussion to DJ Von's set, and the coordination of a live band for our ceremony - DJ Von stepped up and ran point on everything and there was not one hiccup. He was always able to meet over the phone to discuss our music selections, add input, advise against missteps, honestly, we were high maintenance and he was an absolute pleasure to work with every step of the way. The dance floor was packed the entire night.....I have never seen anything like it. Music and dancing was extremely important to us, and my husband and I (and our guests) did not leave the dance floor - literally. DJ Von exceeded every expectation we had. HOLY CRAP. DJ Von is seriously amazing. He is, hands down, the best DJ we have ever heard - at any event, wedding, club - and we were lucky enough to have him at our wedding!! We ended up having him spin for almost 7 hours!!! 1.5 hours for the cocktail party, and 5+ hours for the reception. There was literally NEVER a dull moment, and once we opened the dance floor, it was never empty. We had an awesome but strange blend of a play list (its hard to please everyone from 1 - 80 years old, from all over the world... we had over 200 people), which included country for the rednecks, rock, hip-hop/pop/r&b, and everything in between. Von seamlessly flowed from one genre to another, reading the crowd, and always keeping the party going. Seriously, people could not stop talking about him. I should clarify, Von is not going to be your typical wedding DJ (a la Adam Sandler in the Wedding Singer), but if you actually want a DJ who can spin, read the crowd and incorporate exactly the kind of music you want at exactly the right time, then he is your man. Von was such a great DJ and was really helpful throughout the whole wedding planning process. He has a lot of experience with weddings and events and was able to provide us with some tips and guidelines to make sure things ran smoothly. I would even say he was more helpful than our wedding planner!! We were planning our wedding from New York, so you can imagine there were a lot of 'blind planning' involved. I loved that Von really wanted to get to know both me and my husband to really understand both of our musical tastes - because it's night and day!! lol With differing music tastes, I was worried it wouldn't flow very well together, but he made everything work and even offered suggestions, which was really helpful. We had our ceremony outdoors, above the cliffs, and I was really worried about the sound quality. I cannot emphasize enough how much Von put my mind at ease when he found out all the details from the venue to make sure the music would be loud enough for everyone to hear. He is also very knowledgable about mics, speakers and such that I did not have to worry about any of it. When the day came, everything was perfect and all our guests loved the music!! :) He also knows how to read the crowd, and everyone had a really good time dancing at the party - even my Mum and Dad got on the dance floor! I tell everyone who will listen that DJ Von is hands down the best wedding DJ out there. I've been to weddings where the DJ was a bit intrusive, (on the mic a lot), couldn't read the crowd, and clearly didn't take the time to get to know the couple and their guests. None of this applies to Von. My best friend hired Von for her wedding a year or so before I got engaged. I knew then that there was no way I'd hire anyone else. I don't think I sat down once at her reception, (and I'm usually the type to sit quite a few out). Prior to our wedding Von took the time to get to know me and my husband. He asked us some questions that I didn't really understand at first, like "what year did you and the majority of your guests graduate college," but it became totally clear to me when the dance floor was packed and my guests were dancing like maniacs to songs that we loved in our early 20's. We had a small wedding, (60 or so people), and it can be an awkward party killer if you don't have quite a few people dancing. Von kept my guests dancing up to the very end of our wedding. We have quite possibly the most hilarious photos I've ever seen of my husband and his friends going nuts to one of Von's many perfect song selections. I've had several guests ask me for Von's info after our wedding. I still get inquiries almost a year later. That's the kind of impression he made. Hire him! You won't be disappointed. read more

DJ Von was FANTASTIC! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding DJ and ceremony/dinner emcee. He met with me on the phone multiple times to get a sense of what I wanted and made sure that he would fit the bill. He offered multiple times to meet me in person or Skype, but I was unable to do either for a variety of reasons. My husband and I planned our wedding from 3,000+ miles away (in Boston for a wedding at Barndiva in Healdsburg, CA) and didn't meet any of the folks doing the ancillary things (flowers, DJ, photographer, etc.) until either the day of, or day before, the wedding. We relied on Yelp and word of mouth from others in the wedding industry. DJ Von was recommended to me by the photographer that we chose who said that he had photographed many weddings at Barndiva and had seen some real flops from a music standpoint including blown speakers and no shows. He said that DJ Von was by far the best he'd seen and gave his top recommendation. Vaughn worked with us on special requests as well. My mom is a DJ, having done many weddings herself (she also thought he was great!), and I wanted to work in her announcing a song or two but not having to DJ the whole wedding. Vaughn seamlessly worked her in at the time that I asked and even called her up a second time to announce another song which made her very happy. We also asked him to play the music and do the transitions for our ceremony - which he did perfectly. He has done many, many weddings and had great recommendations about what works where well for the ceremony and reception but was open to whatever I wanted to do. He has a very informative website that highlights samples of his work. If you don't find what you like there, however, I have no doubt that he can tailor something to fit your needs. While my personal taste is along the lines of many of the samples, he was good about incorporating more things that appeal to a variety of ages and music tastes - it was a wedding, after all! As requested, he also avoided all things that fall into the category of "bad wedding DJ." Finally, his rates seemed very reasonable to me and I can't imagine finding a decent band for anywhere close to what we paid. He also let us add on time the night of to extend the reception - a huge plus in my book. The party was still going strong with lots of dancing at the time we had originally planned to stop and it was great to hang out and dance with our friends and loved ones as long as we liked. Overally, I'd give him a 5/5 and would absolutely recommend him to a friend for their wedding. read more

Von DJ'd our Friday night wedding in Walnut Creek for ~125 guests. We'd give him more stars if we could! He did a fantastic job with setting up sound systems for multiple sites, running the reception, and getting people on the dance floor. He was very easy to work with, and was willing to play whatever we wanted. The wedding was on a Friday night, but even though people were tired his music kept the dance floor moving. He did a great job as an MC as well, making just the right announcements so that our guests were aware of what was happening, but he didn't go overboard with talking or jokes, which we really appreciated. We worked with DJ Von (Vaughn) for our April 2016 wedding at the Berkeley City Club in Berkeley, CA. Vaughn provided a number of services, including MC and music for the reception, ceremony sound, and some reception lighting. Vaughn was great to work with and did a phenomenal job -- we highly recommend him! We first reached out to Vaughn after our day-of coordinator (They So Loved Events) gave him a glowing recommendation; the fun mixes he has online also helped. The planning process was pretty painless and was mostly handled by email. We also had a video chat, which was a great way to get to know Vaughn before our big day and to help him get a feel for the types of music we were interested in for dinner and dancing. We also traded playlists and requests/ideas back and forth, which was helpful since we had some strong music opinions. Vaughn did a wonderful job on our wedding day. Everything was set up and worked without a hitch: ceremony sound (incl. multiple mics and my brother-in-law's guitar), reception sound, and lighting. He had great attention to detail, and the up lights and dance lights he set up really added to the space and atmosphere for our reception without being too over the top, which was important to us. Vaughn was also a great MC, helping introduce people and moving the evening along, and he was a calm and happy presence the few times we spoke with him. And perhaps most importantly, the music for dinner and dancing was a great! A lot of what Vaughn played was music we specifically requested ahead of time, but he also did a good job of picking songs that fit with our taste and worked well with the crowd. And it was all a big hit! The dancing held strong from the moment it started until the end of the night. What a great time. DJ Von is a great person and a wonderful wedding DJ. I just had my wedding with DJ Von on 9/5/15 and I can't say this enough, he was the absolute best wedding DJ ever. DJ Von Woo, was our wedding DJ, and spoiler alert: He killed it. Start to finish top notch service. He was great in upfront communication via email, and ultimately ended up meeting us for a first time consultation visit. He instantly "got it" and understood the type of wedding we were looking for. Leading up to the wedding Von, was great with helping us pick our music and giving us some ideas. He gave example lists to get the creative juices flowing. Day of wedding completely on time, was setup, and needed zero oversight. He really knew his stuff about mics, and was able to help us understand how to get the best sound quality out of our ceremony. The actual ceremony itself went off without a hiccup. Perfect quality. During dinner, had awesome play list. Used our initial list of music, but honestly we were not that prescriptive in what we wanted. Generally told him what we liked and he took it from there. Our table kept saying how much they enjoyed the music. Quickly on the dancing, he nailed all the first songs, and ceremony type stuff. He isn't a "hype man" and that's not what we wanted. He talked only when he needed to help usher the groups around and made sure the attention was on the bride (like it should be) and groom. Dance music started off solid and got more aggressive as the night got later and the old folks went to bed. Long story short, hes awesome.
