We had just moved to Maryland. We had to have two cars inspected/registered and this place is within walking distance. One car passed inspection without a hitch. After waiting all day without any feedback, we finally called to inquire about our older vehicle, a 2008 Mercury Sable, did not due to an issue with a side light. The young lady proceeded to tell us it didn't pass inspection b/c it needed tires, and there was an issue w/a side light, but they were looking for the part. So not thinking it was a major problem, we had requested an oil change and said go ahead with the new tires & fix the side light. The next day rolls around and we're told they can't find the part. The car is old, so we're thinking oh my! We just spent close to $700 dollars for a car we'll have to scrap?! Why would they do the other work if they didn't have a supplier for the side light? Not feeling very confident in their response or expertise, we contacted our mechanic in NJ. Told him the issue, and in less than 3 min (no exaggeration) he knew exactly what we needed and where to get it. When we told him the shop here in MD couldn't find the part he laughed. He told us I guess they've never heard of Amazon. We were going to NJ two days later & swung by to see our mechanic. He pulled up the part on Amazon. Told my husband exactly what to order and said if they couldn't figure it out after that to bring it back to him to fix. The part was $8 bucks! Just shy of $800 dollars later & our $8 dollar part procured via Amazon, the car was back on the road. Took my car here for the first time in April of this year for an oil change and brake check. The gentleman who scheduled me and who greeted me when I came in was very friendly, and they even allowed me to go home and return (I live less than 10 minutes away) since I realize I didn't have my wallet with me when I first arrived. They were very sympathetic to that situation, which I really appreciated as it's scary and stressful to not have or know where your wallet is. I was told by the mechanic himself that the rotars were very rusty, and I was given a quote by the woman at the desk (I really should have made a point to know all their names) for how much it would cost to have the rust machined off, but nothing was pushed on me at all. I felt the price was fair, especially for how well I was treated. Will definitely be back for my next oil change! read more

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with DJ's Car Care! I had JUST flown into Philly from South Carolina to pick up a used car I bought online and drive it home (I know, I know..) of course...the TEMP light came on in bumper to bumper construction traffic on 95..at 10pm! No coolant/water in the radiator. After letting the car cool a bit, I limped it half a mile to the Belair exit where thankfully, I found DJ's. I left the car at their convenient drop off station with a key, a note, and a prayer that they could look at it in the am. Rick the Service Manager called me in the am to let me know they would look at it and let me know what they found. Long story short, Skip, my mechanic ran thorough diagnostics and while there was a myriad of things that COULD have been the issue, thankfully, it was just the thermostat. Skip replaced the thermostat, tested it, then refilled and bled the anti-freeze before testing it AGAIN before sending me on my way to SC same day. Service was the absolute best I have ever experienced at an auto repair shop and their price was more than fair! Rick even called me the next morning to be sure I made it back to SC alright! Horrible service. I had an appointment and was told my truck would be done by 4. I called at 12 and they informed me it's. Being worked on. I arrived at 4 pm only to find out there my truck alignment wasn't completed and I Waited for 45 minutes for them to tell me I needed a bolt. Definitely won't be back. Horrible communication . Don't waste your time. Since the owner wants to critique my review and say it was 40 minutes instead of 45 minutes and the mileage is 231k etc. and that I wasn't told it be done by 4pm when in fact I was . That was the second question I asked when I called. Because I was heading out of town that evening for medical appointments for my daughter. If it couldn't have been done by 4 I would've went elsewhere. What the owner failed to mention in his response is that in the time he had control of my vehicle one of his employees stole my belongings out of my vehicle. Can you address that? read more

I took my car there for a basic oil change which at the end when I came to pay for it Tammy she tried to charge me more money for things that they had done which I did not ask for then after that I brought my car home and I noticed that there was some oil leaking so I put a box on the Neath my car to see if it was oil or something else it is oil and I've never had a oil leakbefore in my life after I gotmy car from DJ's so now I have to take my car somewhere else to find out why it is leaking oil and the damage that they have done since they worked on my car I beg nobody to take their car there nobody read more

DJ's Car Care is a hoax especially for military people. Tammy Jo claimed to give military discount but it is only for the first $50 then she charges an outlandish rate after she does an vehicle state inspection. She tries to reel in customers by saying that the company doesn't charge for a reinspection like the other company. However, she will fail you on the inspection so that you will have to come back for labor and parts. She claims that she personally does the inspections and she has to call a dealership for parts for things such a light bulb. I should have never told her that we were military, she saw us coming and definitely found something wrong. I will tell every military person I meet not to go to DJ's Car Care. I should have known something was wrong when this place was the only place that would take our car right away, the other reputable places told me that they were book for at least a week out. So, Tammy Jo you may have got some money today but in the end you will lose more by trying to raise prices because we are new to the area. You even hid the little sign that suggest you give military discount. Shame on you! read more

Ugh, it's been a couple of weeks and I'm STILL mad and disappointed. We had been bringing our vehicles since 2007 and felt like we were treated fairly well and I never felt they were being dishonest with us. Then we took in two different used cars in for the MD state inspection and I got slapped into reality. The first car had a laundry list of stuff wrong and it failed inspection. Rather than pour money into an older car, we decided to sell the car and buy another one. The next car was newer and just had the clutch replaced. Took the car to DJs and they gave us ANOTHER laundry list of stuff wrong with that car. The repairs would have cost several thousand dollars and the car also failed inspection. They said our car needed a complete valve job, yikes! Well, by this point, I was starting to feel a little pissed off. I ended having to take our other (working) vehicle to a muffler to weld our tailpipe back on. While I was there, I asked the guy how much they charged for a valve job repair. I told him the car had failed inspection at DJs and he immediately started shaking his head. I asked him what was wrong, and he told me that people have been ripped off over the years by them. I told him what they had told me what was wrong with the car, and then he pulled out the MD state inspection sheet and showed me that nowhere on the sheet was a valve repair listed as being necessary for the car to pass inspection. He even told me I should call the State Police and report DJs for trying to tell me I needed to have the valves repaired before it could pass inspection! He then told me that he could look at the car for me and tell me what it needed for passing. We brought the car in, and aside from replacing a door handle, changing the spark plugs, and a few other minor repairs, the car should pass. Well, after being burned one time already, I decided to seek a third opinion. I just heard from the mechanic today and he pretty much confirmed what the other mechanic did. Yes, I still need a valve job, but I don't need it to pass inspection. DJs implied that I did and that makes me mad that they tried to take advantage of me like that. We don't have a lot of money and this would have really hurt us financially if we'd gotten the valve job. Now, I have a little time to save up the money before getting the repairs, but I definitely won't be getting my repairs done at DJs! read more

Went to DJ's for a coolant leak on a Dodge Durango. They said they would need to check it to see if it had overheated and possibly blown head gasket and pressure check radiator. So instead of looking at possible hoses leaking they went straight for the worst scenario. They said I needed a new radiator and quoted me $1100.00. I called three reputable businesses in same area and they all quoted $500.00 for same job. They all said it was a two hour job and that DJ's quote was extremely excessive. I asked DJ's why it was so high and they said their radiator was better. I ordered the best one I could find and it cost $85 dollars. Looked at a video on YouTube showing exactly how to change it and flush coolant system. Took 1 hour with basic tools. Runs great! I paid DJ's $82.00 to tell me what was wrong and to pick Durango up. DO NOT GO To DJ's unless you want to throw your money away. read more

Went to DJs to get my headlight switch fixed and a "check engine" light diagnosis. The women in the front were exceptionally nice and professional, however the cost of diagnosis and repairs were extremely excessive. I was quoted at $1,200 to fix these minor issues. I was told that my headlight switch was bad ($30 part at auto zone), and that it would be $917 to fix because all the pieces that were holding the switch in place were also broken, I have since taken my truck elsewhere and they fixed it for a fraction of that- with no mention of it not being held in place. The "check engine was said to be for 2 reasons an O2 sensor and "something else they have yet to determine." I decided to take my truck to a different place and just pay the diagnosis fee. I was told the fee would be anywhere from $0-$150 depending on what they had to do, so I was a little taken aback when I said I would just be paying the diagnosis fee and was told that it would be $213. They told me it was because they had to pull the dashboard out to see what was wrong with the lights, however; I would have really appreciated a phone call or notice that by doing that it would push the price for diagnosis up almost $70. I ultimately left disappointed with my experience at DJ's, not because of the lack of professionalism or customer service, it is a very nice location with very friendly people,and I'm sure there are many people who don't mind paying a bit more for their repairs, but because I felt that charging $212 just to diagnose the issues was a bit excessive. read more
