My family loves spending time in outdoor living spaces. We recently bought our forever home, and…read morewhile the yard had a lot of potential, we decide not to start a landscaping project right away. However, after a couple of storms, our basement nearly flooded. We knew we were on borrowed time and needed to overhaul the drainage in our front and back yards. We decided to combine this project with landscaping and fencing to create the yard we wanted. We researched many other landscaping firms and did our due diligence. Then, we connected with Amy at Outside Dreams. From our first meeting, it was clear that she knew what she was talking about. She listened to our goals and perspectives and was invested in giving us an outstanding finished product. From that first meeting until the end of our project, she delivered everything she promised. Amy was great to work with from a design perspective and understood our desire to have a fun but low-maintenance yard. One of the things we loved about Outside Dreams was that they are a one-stop shop. We didn't want to coordinate between a fence builder, a sprinkler person, a company that does hard-scaping, a landscaper, and a junk removal company. Instead, Outside Dreams handled all of it for us, which was a huge relief because it ensured smooth coordination, communication, and accountability. The crew from Outside Dreams was unbelievable. They worked so hard, starting by 8:00 every day, and were diligent and meticulous in their work. They were respectful, communicated well with us, and cleaned up the yard every day before leaving. It was the same friendly team every day, and the great communication up and down the organization made the entire process seamless. Their workmanship and work ethic were outstanding, and they had the expertise to do all of the *many* tasks involved. The quality and quantity of materials Outside Dreams used were impressive. They did not skimp on anything, especially the cedar mulch, which they generously applied. The plants and sod they used were top-notch, and everything has grown in beautifully. They built us three raised beds with micro-sprayers, and we are now growing a bumper crop of vegetables! The trellis they designed and built, complete with three beautiful clematis vines, adds a stunning focal point to our yard. They also planted trees and shrubs on a drip line that runs as a station on our sprinklers, ensuring everything gets the right amount of water. Outside Dreams' attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the project. From the careful placement of plants to the meticulous installation of the irrigation system, nothing was overlooked. Their workmanship was outstanding, and the final result exceeded our expectations. Amy and her team were incredibly flexible, accommodating our needs and adjusting as necessary. Their customer service was top-notch, always keeping us informed and involved throughout the project. They delivered on every promise and went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the result. It's hard to explain how much we enjoy spending time in our yard. It looks beautiful, and we are confident that our drainage issues have been resolved. We couldn't be happier with the work done by Outside Dreams. If you're looking for a landscaping company that combines experience and expertise with an eye for design, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service, look no further than Outside Dreams. They transformed our tired old yard into the outdoor living space we always wanted!

Often times our remote projects are in the western United States where homeowners already understand the value a designer brings. The biggest downfall of designing remotely is not having a contractor to refer to our remote design clients because as I'm sure you can imagine, things don't usually go to plan and corners get cut. That changes for us when we met Joe. High end custom outdoor living construction is expensive, it takes a while and it's stressful but if the communication between all parties is on point, the project is a breeze. We're happy to have aligned ourselves with Aspenwood. Our other projects in the area have been train wrecks due to contractors promising things they cannot deliver, overbooking themselves and most importantly horrible communication. This company has knocked it out of the park for 3/3 of our area projects and we're looking forward to the next one.

The first thing I will say, is that you really need to get the ball rolling early on in the season,…read moreif you have a complete backyard renovation you want to get done. You cannot expect to reach out to an established landscape design company with a strong reputation, at the end of the season, and expect them to be able to complete your project and get back to you at the drop of a hat. I know this because last year we tried to get a project started in September, and I was way too late. I learned my lesson, and this year I reached out for estimates and designers in January/February. Something I learned and was surprised by, was that when the designer first comes out to your space, it is a very short visit. They come back at another time to do measurements and such, and then they set up a meeting at another time to go over what they drafted, followed by perhaps another meeting. Each Company I reached out to, followed this process. Also, i've found that it is common for them to only accept cash, so don't plan on using your credit card unless you are taking a cash advance. Ok, so now to the review. I reached out to about 10 different landscape design Companies. Landscape Connections was one of the first and most assertive getting back to me and setting up an appointment. Scott came out for a short visit to look at the space, and came back another time to take measurements. We met a week later to look at a drafted design plan, made some changes, and met the following week once again. Scott explained that the second plan was not set in stone, and we could make changes during the renovation as well. Scott was totally fine when were said we wanted to take some stuff out or save money here or there. We paid about $10k, which was 1/3 of the estimated cost, and they got started right away. I went to the stone place to pick out the pavers, and some trees. I mostly left the plants up to them, and really just wanted to have privacy from my neighbors. The crew is the main reason I give them 5 stars. They were so efficient, detailed, clean, and fast. Everyday when they were done working, they literally swept any dirt left on the driveway, street, or side walk. They hauled everything away with them each day, and never left trash. They bring their own port a potty. Scott also gets 5 stars. He kept is simple and to the point, and designed a great space. They renovated my backyard in around 2 weeks. They programmed by drip system and sprinklers and re-did the sprinkler system. After they were done, I decided I wanted a few more trees, and they were able to come by and plant them the following week. We decided to wait on the actual pergola, but had them put the casings in the ground so it would be ready. The price they quoted me for a custom pergola, was about 10k less than another company... Everything turned out very nice, and we have been enjoying our new back yard. Make sure you reach out and get started early in the year, if you want to have your yard done by spring. Also, lighting may not make sense to you when they put it on the drafted plan, but we did not go with all the lighting on the plan because we thought it wasn't necessary and would just save the money, but now wish we had. I now realize how much privacy and safety, the lighting elements bring to the yard. If I find a way to post photos of our yard, I will do so.

Mediocre experience with this company. Arturo the owner was good to work with but there were…read moreserious issues with the quote process and communication between the designers and workers. The original quote had some necessary substantial structural things for the retaining wall missing (which I as a customer would not know) so when it came to refine the quote and those items were added, the budget was blown and we did not get what we were expecting based on the initial quote. Granted we could have not proceeded but we had already paid the design fee and plot plan fee so that would have been a loss if we went elsewhere. Once the work started we luckily caught numerous mistakes and cut corners. The patio came out fine but the fence has nails sticking out, imperfect pickets, and gates that are tight and now have swelled so they don't close smoothly after only a few months. The mulch job was light on product and does not cover all the landscape fabric. Several for the sprinkler heads broke or did it work within days of completion. Others were installed backwards and water the house not the grass. Clearly they did not bother to check the system after they installed it. After spending what we spent, I would have expected at least a follow up to see if we were satisfied. Instead they made us feel like we had to change our schedule (which we did) to ensure they got their final payment. Then off they went.

A Cautionary Review of Land Designs by Colton Our Experience…read moreand Lessons Learned Initially, our experience with Land Designs by Colton seemed promising. The project kicked off smoothly, and we had high expectations based on their assurances and professionalism during the early stages. However, as the work progressed, significant issues began to arise, tarnishing our trust and satisfaction with the company. And then they ghosted us. The Tree Planting Disaster One of the first major problems we encountered was with the landscaping aspect--specifically the planting of trees. Out of the nine trees planted, six died within a relatively short time frame. We had been informed that these trees were under warranty for a year, which gave us some initial reassurance. Unfortunately, when we sought replacements for the dead trees under this warranty, the company did not honor their commitment. This was deeply frustrating and marked the beginning of a series of disappointments in dealing with Land Designs by Colton. Contract Issues Another frustration arose when we attempted to obtain a copy of our contract. We had initially accessed the agreement through Google Docs, but it was mysteriously deleted. When we reached out to Land Designs by Colton for a copy, they claimed they could no longer provide it due to changes in their system following an update. This lack of accountability and transparency added to our growing unease with the company. The Deck Extension Debacle The most costly and distressing issue was related to a deck extension they built for us. After the work was completed, we discovered that the extension had not been permitted--they assured us that this was not necessary. As we began the process of obtaining necessary permits, we learned that the construction itself was not done to code. Specific deficiencies included: * Footings that were not deep enough * Railing spindles with uneven spacing * Stairs that failed to meet code requirements These violations have forced us to reconstruct the deck to meet code standards, incurring additional expenses totaling thousands of dollars. In essence, the deck project has doubled in cost due to their negligence. This has been an incredibly stressful ordeal, both financially and emotionally. Conclusion Our experience with Land Designs by Colton has been nothing short of disastrous. What began as a promising relationship quickly deteriorated due to unfulfilled warranties, lack of transparency regarding contracts, and substandard construction practices that led to code violations. We hope our story serves as a warning to others considering working with this company. Proceed with caution and ensure that every aspect of the contract and work is meticulously monitored to avoid similar hardships. Beware of Land Designs by Colton. What seems fine at the start may end up costing you dearly in the end.

Jonathan is among the most unprofessional vendors I have ever come across…read more For background: I hired him to work on my front lawn, and warned him I'd need him to be flexible as I was also getting a fence installed. I paid him half up front and he did some work. When I needed him to return to finish the lawn after the fence was installed, he strung me along on a finish date for months. I tried to press him to finish the job, and he got nasty. I'd often get trapped in circular conversations with his assistant, who hides behind legalese language, while Jonathan's correspondence was filled with condescension, personal attacks, and threats. (As an example: See below his assistant's response as evidence of the kind of legal speak they use, and how they twist it around in their favor. Pegging blame on the customer without accepting responsibility for their own awful service.) And they're thugs. I had to file a police report after he and his workers broke into our backyard _and garage_ to reclaim what he says are his materials. Some $10 pipes. This is something they'll point to in the contract as a thing he has a right to do. Upon terminating his contract for stringing me along, severe unprofessional behavior, and even violating our safety and security, he charged a termination fee. This would be laughable if it weren't so vindictive. Despite it all, I did pay him whatever ridiculous invoice he'd excuse with his contract in order to get rid of all the vitriol he was turning my way. So... Be wary of his, and his assistant's, predatory contract which they rely on to get away with crappy service. You'll know he deems your project to not be lucrative for him, when he gives you side comments about him "doing you a favor." He lacks follow through to complete a job unless it's on his terms, and he lacks professionalism in dealing with client requests. He gets nasty and personal if you get on his bad side. He loves to tout his educational background, as if to reassure you he's somehow different or that you'd be getting excellent service. Don't fall for it. There are plenty of other contractors in the Denver area who do amazing work in a timely fashion without all the drama. Save yourselves the headache.
