Mark is an motorcycle magician! I've been coming to DMC for almost 2 years, found him through Yelp & I wouldn't trust my bikes anywhere else!! Every time I stop by the shop he treats me like a friend. He's getting super busy these days but he always takes the time to explain any problems & describe his work. I'm a new rider but on my second motorcycle. I started with an old Susuki savage that had been sitting for years, he tuned it up, got it running smoothly, & solved my nagging dead battery issues. It took some trouble shooting but apparently the starter / single cylinder 650cc can pretty hard on batteries (despite being on a trickle charger). I needed an upgrade to a super tough battery - Mark was hesitant because the cost was higher but it was really necessary to solve the problem, haven't had an issue since. When I upgraded to a 1989 Yamaha Virago 1100 (with only 6K miles on it!) I took it straight to Mark for a tune up. Obviously this bike has spent most of its life in storage. He flushed the fluids out of all the systems & spent hours getting nearly solid gunk out of her arteries. All the build up was causing the engine to idle & rev at variable RMPs. After a week or so I brought her back in to see why it was difficult to handle at low speeds (in 1st gear keeps wanting to die & required a lot of throttle) I thought I was just a wimpy new rider but Mark make adjustments to the engine to choke it back a bit & worked on the clutch so it was easier for my small hands work the engaging point. His efforts have really improved my ride! It's so much easier to handle & still have tons of power. Thanks Mark!! read more

I've been here 4 or 5 times and every time they've been super helpful. I like to do a lot of my own work and they are more than happy to give me info and recommendations. When I can't do the work myself they have great prices and fast service. They let me know that I had a pretty worn dirt bike tire and offered a used one from one of their race bikes that was in better condition for free. Couldn't ask for better service. We purchased our Dyna Streetbob last year and have been taking it to DMC since. The team here has looked out for us and the prices are more than reasonable. We've always called ahead to schedule and they'be been up front with us, if they can get to it right away they do, if they can't they let us know so we are prepared. Mark and the DMC team have done great work on my bikes and I've been very happy and satisfied every time I've brought something in. I've had them do everything from custom engine guard installations on a Honda ADV bike to full work-ups on my Ducati Monster as well as tire work. The biggest challenge is that they're a busy shop and that means sometimes a couple of calls to get through and get the bike scheduled. I appreciate that they've discussed options with me if they run into snags along the way and don't push toward just the way they want to do things. Independent mechanic specializing in servicing dirt bikes! Mark is an ex-AMA racer, really knows his bikes, and is one of the nicest and most honest mechanics you'll ever meet. I trust him with my Honda CRF250X, and he's helped clean the carbs and adjust the valves. His prices are outrageously inexpensive and the work is top-notch. My only gripe is that it takes a while to get scheduled and have the work completed.. he really needs another mechanic helping out to speed things along. For the area, no one comes close to the level of service and prices at DMC, but obviously word is out on this place because it's very popular! read more

So imagine this scenario: dead 500 pound bike & 150 pound girl with no real bike riding skills or muscles. Enter a motorcycle shop right near my house and a man named Mark. He saved the day by walking my flat tired, dusty hunk of metal to his shop and brought the beast back to life. Lucky for me (and my laziness) I was recommended to this shop by a friend, and subsequently the glowing reviews on Yelp. The reviews only further highlight Mark's love for motorcycles and excellent service. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with bike repairs so I didn't really know what to expect. I knew I had done a disservice to my bike but I didn't know if it was going to be a $150 endeavor or a $2000 kind of deal. When Mark took my bike and called me to confirm that the battery did indeed need replacing among a few other things, my heart sank when he said, "well I want to warn you, it is kind of expensive." I imagined dollar bills stacking before my eyes and igniting on fire in the few seconds before he continued. I was relieved when he actually gave me the price for the work. The repair was very reasonably priced for the work and time required but not capital "E" expensive where I was going to be eating top ramen for a few weeks. Plus, when I went to pay, he made sure I knew in advance that if I brought cash I'd save a few bucks in card processing fees. I really appreciate this kind of thing since there are plenty of business owners that could care less. I'm likely going to sell the bike unfortunately since it's too grande for this girly, but when I get back around to riding again one day I know where I'd take my bike. This is a man dedicated to his work and willing to fulfill what he says he will do to the very end. I have brought my ninja 250r two times now and each time the experience was amazing. I brought in my ninja randomly the first time to do a rear tire change and he happened to have a lift open. did it right then and there no hassle and was out of there within the hour. On top of that they noticed my pads were about done and replaced them at the same time. The second time was for my 6k maintenance. Brought it in Friday evening and he stayed after hours on Saturday till 7 pm to finish it up for me. Now that is dedication that you can't find everywhere. Mark has been my "go to guy" for anything bike related since I heard about his shop about 6 months ago. His business etiquette and want for return business is unmatched. Recently I ordered some tires for my Fiance's ninja 250 and called up Mark to get them put on. Unfortunately Mark told me for the time frame I was looking for, he would struggle to accomodate. I ended up going to another shop to get them mounted. HOWEVER, Mark called me later in the afternoon and asked if I still needed the job done, when I told him my decision he apologized for not fitting me in and said he'll make it up to me next time I need something. Mark is honest if you're honest. He treats rider safety as priority. My experience with Mark always gives me confidence as a rider. He regularly works on my '12 Monster 696. If you're not familiar, working on Ducati is more of a pain compared to other bikes. Mark's turnaround is usually same day for simple things like oil change, brake flush, etc. Overhauls take more time since I see him with, at most, one other person. Sometimes he's a one man crew. If you expect super fast turnarounds or a similar experience with a factory service crew, look elsewhere but if you want attention to detail and have some patience, Mark is your guy. Asked how much to adjust valves. He said $140! Brought bike with a spark plug and plastic off. Charged me $180. Asked him about plug condition he said it needed replacing. He didnt show me old plug. Said valves were a little tight. Bikes harder to start now. I question whether he even did anything. Not going back he seems shady just telling it like i see it. read more

Called DMC based on location, and spoke with Mark. Yes, he could get my YZ250F in that day for some misc maintenance and repairs. Cool! Dropped the bike off, and Race greeted me as Mark was working on a bike. We ran through the list - no problem - they could do it. About a week, we thought. Race called me a couple of times to keep me informed and to ask me to make some decisions on upgraded parts. Mark was outstanding. I went in with an unknown electrical issue on a fully custom VRod muscle. I was concerned as to what the time frame for repair could be and then the labor costs while trying to figure what the issue was. All things considering, when he was done compared to the 2 weeks he had my bike, the price certainly did not reflect it. He figured out the issue and it cost me only a fraction what I thought it was going to cost. Very friendly and made sure to share the details of the problem when I picked it up. This review serves as an update to my previous post... Today Mark and I spoke face-to-face and worked out the differences I wrote about previously as two civilized human beings. What I learned today about Mark is that he is very passionate about his work and cares deeply about the safety of his customers... which is very comforting to know when you are taking a corner at 50mph after having work done (or a tire changed) on your bike. I didn't get the name of the employee who helped me today, but he was super helpful and answered all of my questions without any hint of attitude. It's heartening to know that two adults can hash out their differences and emerge from the situation in a mutually beneficial position. I highly recommend the group at DMC for all of your motorcycle needs... plus, they're expanding (upstairs), so no more pacing in the Chase parking lot waiting for your motorcycle to be finished. Mark is awesome! I prefer to work on my own bike and am an automotive master technician, but when I lack the time or the job is more complicated than I care for, I go see Mark. He knows what he is doing and I have no problems leaving my bike with him to work his magic. His prices are simply the best and his quality is even better. I'm lucky enough to live right down the street from Mark and his shop. You can tell Mark has a passion for motorcycles and for helping people. His pricing is probably the best there is in San Diego. I've taken my bike to many places in the past but they do not compare to the quality service and the competitively priced services Mark provides. Recently I had a flat tire from a framing nail I picked up on the ride home. Mark was able to get my motorcycle in and have the tire changed on extremely short notice. Brought the bike in when the engine was making grinding noises and the battery had failed. They started up the bike and said the engine had siezed when I wasn't there instead of opening it up. Said it would be $3000-$4000 for a rebuild. Instead I got a used motor to replace in there. They gave a poor explanation of what caused then engine to sieze. They then had to do a valve adjustment due to poor compression, which had to be redone by another mechanic. On top of that that the oil was very dirty even after they did a supposed oil change and cleaned the replacement motor. They had terrible customer service and wouldn't pick up when called. Whenever calling me, they would leave a message saying to call back with no details, but then wouldn't pick up when I called back. On the final receipt they did not itemize anything except for the oil and service. Everything else was listed as "custom amount" Edit: Owner called to apologise, which was nice... However, there were still issues that need to be addressed with their customer service. I get a detailed report of each item checked and worked on, as well as diagrams and measurements on valve clearances from other mechanics. Things need to be clearly itemized especially when the bill is close to $1000. read more
