The staff here were efficient and pleasant to interact with during my visit. - - - - - - Like most DMVs I've visited, this location doesn't have the most convenient entrance /exit to the adjacent street. Overall, there were no signs of what to do or where to go, so make sure to ask around. No appointment? Walk all the way in and queue up. Visiting on a weekday afternoon at 4:10pm, I was able to get seen within 20 minutes (!) after receiving a number. Other than the difficulty finding the queues, there isn't quite "good" organization here. I would describe the location of each service as fairly chaotic, though the nice part is the waiting area is together, and the windows are on the sides. I came here on a Friday at 11:30am. The line was actually not bad at all. I probably had to wait in line outside for like less than 10 mins. Came here to renew my drivers license and get the Real ID so I pre filled out everything online. As a I made it to the front I showed them my confirmation code and was given a customer number. I was probably in and out of the facility in like 30-45 mins. Not too bad since I have myself an ideal time frame of an hour and a half to 3 hours. I was actually surprised of how well and smoothly this whole process took. There was actually a lot of parking. And when you wait inside for your name to be called, there are a good amount of chairs to sit and physical distance yourself from others. You'll still have people that don't care and will literally sit right next to you. Be prepared to take a photo if you're updating anything on your license. I was NOT prepared and had to take a picture looking so busted since I came here after work. And I cannot stress this enough! PAY ATTENTION TO THE SCREEN! I had my customer number in the queue and they yet I still wasn't called. Make sure to speak up about it or else they will forget about you. I can't believe I'm actually writing a FIVE star review for a DMV of all places. However, after living in the east coast, Midwest, and now CA over my adulthood - and having used DMVs in all those places - this one truly deserves this review! If more of them could operate like this place, Americans wouldn't hate the DMV so much lol! PARKING: there's actually a huge lot here full of free parking! The last LA County DMV I used on the west side was packed and I had to find street parking and walk. Heading south down Rosemead and turning right into this place makes the lot look small. However, it wraps around the back, and in the back, there's a lot more parking. There were tons of spots open when I visited Friday around 3:30pm. PRE-APP: take advantage of the pre-app process online. Hopefully this sticks around after COVID passes. If you don't show up with a confirmation number at check-in, you'll be asked to do the app from your phone while you wait if you can. You'll be screened outside by 2 employees - first, a COVID symptom check. Then, a second person will ask for your pre-app info and inspect your docs to ensure you brought everything you will need. Even if you don't have an appt (I didn't), if you have the pre-app and all your docs, you'll get to cut the line. The second employee will walk you inside where you get your number, then told to have a seat until the number is called. I did a pre-app for my first Real ID license, but actually needed that + a renewal, name change, and address change. All of that was no problem at the door because I'd come with the correct docs. INSIDE: I only had to sit for about 10 min. before my number was called. I reviewed my pre-app info, took a quick vision test, made a payment, then got sent to the camera line. The picture process took maybe 5 min, then I was done! The bathroom inside was pretty gross, but not subtracting a star for that because I was grateful they even had one that was open during COVID. Had I known the whole process would have been this easy and fast, I wouldn't have put off my post-marriage ID change for so long! read more

I was very surprised at how effective and fast it was to come here today. I wasn't planning on coming but after driving by and only seeing one person in line, I pulled in to the parking lot. I didn't have an appointment, and walked right in, without any problem. Filled out my form and was called working two minutes. I couldn't believe it. The service was so fast, faster than starbucks lol who would believe. Well I'm definitely left at awe, and grateful for this very effective dmv location, I've been to other cities and cannot say the same compliments. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but still usually a frustrating experience. Last time I had checked online appointments were available 3-4 weeks out but I didn't book one. When I checked again nothing was available until December. I went in last Monday before they opened and lined up at 7:45. The process took under 2 hours and I was expecting an all day or half day ordeal. I totally forgot about the Real ID that everyone is required to have by 2020 so I just renewed my driver's license the old way. $35. They said since I already paid I won't be charged again when I bring in my documents for the real ID as long as I do it before the end of the year. Super nice guy helped me. Don't remember his name. Lady I paid with was also nice and taking care of the new photo was fine too. I come back the following Wednesday at 8:30 (they open at 9am on Wednesday) and wait an hour. Lady tells me I can't give my documents for the Real ID til I have the new drivers license and bring that in with me. Cannot just show your interim. So just beware that while you can come back to get your Real ID if you just apply for a regular driver's license you MUST HAVE YOUR NEW DRIVERS LICENSE WITH YOU. I confirmed that all I documents I brought were correct but it's easier to just have everything ready and get the Real ID instead of renewing a regular driver's license and coming back. Ignore the fact that Yelp always says they are closed on Wednesday except for 3-6pm. They open at 9am on Wednesdays. It's always faster with an appointment but the wait is not too bad if you just line up before they open their doors. read more

They are open for in person transactions. I went about 2 weeks ago to get my Real ID. You can start the process online, and upon completion you get a confirmation number which will help with your same day appointment. You don't physically schedule an appointment but when you show up to the DMV if you have that printed confirmation page, you get into the appointment line. There was lots of masked, socially distanced personnel. It felt slightly rushed but in an efficient and attentive sort of way. They were quit organized. I was seen at the window within 5-10minutes. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The wait times I saw online seemed accurate. Ps, this was extra relieving after I had originally gone to Pomona which I was told would be open and it in fact was not. read more

I made sure to make an appointment in advanced to beat the wait and as a result, my experience wasn't that bad given the fact that all DMVs kinda sucks. The cool thing about this location is that they open on Saturdays however that means lots and lots of people so don't bother to even wait in line without making an appointment first. The employees who helped me were respectful and didn't show any attitude. Just make sure to ask how they're doing and be friendly and they'll do the same. I was so surprised at what great service I received here because last time I came to get my Real ID Driver License it was horribly mismanaged (2 years ago). I had to renew my driver license but had to go in this time. I was there at 7:00am. I was in the disability line so I was first. They open at 8:00am Andriana called in a group of us into DMV at 7:40am to fill out registration then we went out at 7:55am in line, but as soon as 8:00am came she had a group of us come in again and we were service by another two nice ladies called April and Rose. They were so friendly and professional. I not used to this great service by the DMV. It took us 33 minutes to stop at 3 different stations inside the DMV (fingerprint, eye examine, fill out application on computer). read more

I had an appointment at 8:30 in the morning and went to the appointments line in the back. It was fairly quick and I didn't have to standing the huge line forming in the front. Well, it's a DMV, and rating this poorly won't have any bearing if you're going to come. Nobody in their right mind would come to a DMV out of free will. With that said, I'll have to rate this against other DMVs I've been to. I've seen much more efficient DMVs, the like outside barley moves, and there are free stations on the inside (if you make it in before ending yourself). DMVs in Santa Barbara, Santa Ana, Irvine are all much better than this. I've never gone to a DMV in other LA counties, so I can't speak to that. Poorly staffed, poorly managed. Even with the same level of staffing it could be more effective. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do - just try to get here at the crack of dawn so you don't have to wait in line - you'll just wait outside the door before it opens and be told to sit down even though you are first. read more

The worst place ugh..horrible system! I waited in line for non-appointments forever because the sign wasn't visible. Then I went to the appointments only line which took me even longer. Then the "helpful" guide didn't give me the right info - so I had to wait yet again. Why are these people even employed?!!! I need to do yoga after this. Our gov't pays these losers money to work here? That's really my/our money being wasted on them. So frustrating & the only saving grace is that I don't have to come here too often. Its not that bad. I came here to replace a lost driver's license. Arrived at 8:10am and of course the line was out the door (Non appt line). But the line moves fast, and you'll reach the counter about 20 mins. You get assigned a number and wait about 5 to 10 mins and then you'll get your DMV needs taken care of. Total time: 40 minutes. Went to take my driver's test today (behind the wheel) and I cannot stress how disappointed I was with the examiner's attitude. Her name is Adriana (oh yes honey, I'm adding her name), and she was pretty rude and very critical! She would give her instructions last minute, and when you ask her to repeat her instructions she would answer in a very rude tone. Throughout the whole test she was writing on her clipboard and looking at the scenery, not me. That and I noticed before me, she had failed two others. If you get her, please request another examiner, but be careful because there is another examiner who's name is Rene. Rene is just as bad, if not worse! DMV Registration services is unheard of in Northern California, so when I saw this posting via Yelp I couldn't believe it....I had to check it out. I had purchased a car with missing paperwork and these folks walked me through the process, completed the correct papaerwork and submitted the paperwork to DMV themselves. Super fast service!!! My appointment was at 8am for my license renewal and I am able to get in sharp at 8am. Got to a very nice gentleman at window #11. He is fast and polite. Within 30 minutes, I am done and I am super impressed. FYI: schedule appointment online is very easy and fast but available time maybe at least 2-3 weeks at the time you schedule. My Real DL renewal process took over 4 months to be completed! I called DMV Sacramento twice. Long story short: During my 2nd call, I was informed again that it's being processed. I was told to wait 30 days from my 1st call. Another month elapsed and still nothing. I ended up contacting my State representative's office about my situation, who were very efficient. I provided them a detailed description of my situation along with a signed release to represent me on a Wednesday. By Friday am, they were able to reach out to DMV. By Friday late afternoon, I received an email from State rep's office that my DL was finalized (so it was just sitting there until State rep intervened?...). A little over a week from that time, I finally received my DL. This was my 1st time contacting a State rep's office. And it was a very good experience. I went to the Pasadena DMV last week on a rainy day and there was a huge line outside, which is not unusual. I want to compliment the staff who were dealing with some cranky people- there was an hour and a half to two hour wait at that time. In every interaction I observed, the DMV staff were very polite and helpful. John, the man who gave us the initial paperwork when we finally got inside was especially nice and even walked an elderly man back to show him the line he was supposed to be in. While waiting after I had my number, the automatic paging system for the next numbers went out, and one of the staff members, Frank, took over calling out the numbers, keeping it all going, and was really nice to everyone. DMV has changed, and they deserve credit. I got there at 6:50 this morning (Saturday) and was about 15th in line. Around 7am, 4-5 employees arrived and collected documents from those who were getting Real IDs then returned the documents later. We were also given numbers which they'd use to call us. The doors opened at 8am and I was done by 8:30. I'm old enough to remember when DMV was a mess. Their managers deserve credit, as do the members of their line staff who were friendly and helpful - especially those who reported to work at 7am on a Saturday morning. read more
