AVOID THIS COMPANY. Recently moved to another house within the same town. This should have been a very easy move. After settling in, we discovered that one of our wardrobe boxes was never delivered to our new home. The box contained all of our winter gear (coats, hats, gloves, boots, etc). Close to $2,000 worth of items. Contacted the company and they were very blasé about it and questioned whether the box even existed. They said they would look for it in their warehouse (without even asking for a description of the missing items to look for) nor did they seem to care. We did not ask for a full refund or the full value of our stuff, we just wanted some help so we could start replacing the lost items. The owner was very arrogant and cited some technicality in our agreement. He eventually offered to refund us a whopping $200 which he thought was very generous (after we paid him thousands of dollars for our move). We are taking legal action and will not be using this company for our next move. read more

Worst. Move. Ever. If you live in MA and are looking to move, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, use DN Van Lines Moving & Storage. This was the first time I paid "professional" movers and they were anything but. They arrived over an hour late. I had to call numerous times to find out where they were. No one could (or would) tell me why they were running so late & why they couldn't be bothered to contact me to tell me so. Furthermore, they didn't bring any tools to take apart furniture (even though their contract guarantees this). they moved all of the light/small things first (even I know that's a no-no) and then when it came to the bigger items, one of them left to go buy tools. Leaving the other person with nothing to do (again, since all of the lighter items had already been moved). A few of my things were placed so lazily on the truck they actually fell off into the street. I ended up taking apart my bed myself, because one of the guys said it would be easier to store still put together. The only three words that come to mind when I think of DN Van Lines are: tardiness, laziness & apathy. Stay away from them! read more

We moved from Vermont to Florida in February of 2016. The men packing our house did a great job, but that is where it ended. Dan didn't order the right size truck to move our things and everything got jammed into one small truck. Everything was damaged ! Then because they couldn't jam everything into one truck they charged us an additional 1700.00 to bring 4 items in a pick up truck. It was even more disappointing when we complained to the company and we got nothing but excuses, no sorry or apology....just arrogance. WE ARE NOT HAPPY read more

I was annoyed with DN Van Lines because they did damage to the ceiling and walls of the apartment my daughter moved in. I gave them a 1 star in my first review and really gave them a negative review. I am changing it to 2 stars because they were polite and my husband said they really did try to get the furniture in the house and worked hard. There seems to have been a miscommunication. They told my daughter it was a tight fit and asked her if they should go ahead with the move anyway. My daughter believed that it would be possible to fit in if they tried more but did not realize the damage that would incur. She was given a sheet of paper to sign after the damage was done, and she was too distressed at this point because the furniture did not fit and she was going to have to rent a U-Haul to send it elsewhere (my basement of course). She didn't realize she was signing a document which stated the movers would not be held liable for any damage to furniture or property. So, she learned a lesson from all this, and I hope you do too. DON'T SIGN ANYTHING UNLESS YOU READ IT ALL AND CLARIFY WHAT IT IS. The company isn't a bad company, they were not hostile toward me or my daughter. You just have to measure your furniture and the place you are moving to and have your furniture wrapped. Lesson learned. read more

I willnot recommend this company to anyone! I do mean anyone! Rude employees, bad customer service, high rates for no reason, owner is all about himself and money and not about his customers who are giving them their hard earned money. I've moved and hired movers and many companies and this one by far was the worst! The movers came late strike 1, the two guys that were moving my small apartment spent 45 minutes chilling, sitting on the stairs, talking on cell phones, took bathroom break and all strike 2. I had to tell them this time is costing me money. The guys were rude. A move that should have taken less then 2 hours took about 5 and they didn't take all my stuff. I had to find my own way to get the rest of my stuff to my new place miles away. I complain to the owner and he took their side and wouldn't give me back the 45 minutes they wasted. Strike 3 I am done! Then it cost me like $500.00. I waisted all that money on a crappy job, half done job and some items broken they didn't want to confiscated me for. If you want rude, bad customer service, crappy job etc here's your ticket. I seen much better companies with lower rates and excellent customer service. read more

We hired DN Van Lines to move my mom from her home in Florida to Massachusetts (to an assisted living facility). The guys who packed up the house arrived on time and did a decent job packing. It was difficult to find out exactly when it was all going to be delivered on the other end, but it seemed like a reasonable time. The guys who did the delivery on the other end, were also personable. My issue is not with the staff. Somehow, only one piece of furniture survived the move. The wooden furniture arrived in splinters and cannot be repaired. The Ekornes recliner (the only chair that my mom can sit in comfortably) was bent beyond repair. Other items arrived soiled and bent. It was a nightmare. The stress of having to move my mom all this way and having her few treasured items wrecked just put us all over the top. When I talked with the manager he said that since we did not buy additional insurance that they would only reimburse us for 60 cents per pound, which came out to be $105. And they might clean the soiled furniture and carpet if he thought the quote was reasonable. After some back and forth about possible repair, he ended up offering us $500 for about $3000 worth of irreparable damage. Thanks but no thanks. I would like to meet the people who did this and ask how they would feel if it happened to their mother. All that aside, do you really want to run the risk of your furniture arriving in a pile of rubble? read more

My experience with DN Van Lines was inconsistent throughout the booking process. I originally submitted the wrong destination zip code through the on line estimate process. I quickly corrected it via phone. Then through emails, phone and submitted a corrected inventory. However, DN kept sending emails with the incorrect destination. It became obvious that they do not pay attention to details because instead of answering my emailed questions, I got what seemed to be standard emails about rates, packing etc. My question was what form of payments are accepted so that I could lock in a date. I NEVER got the answer as to how to pay them. I shouldn't have to work so hard to make a payment to reserve a date. Moving is stressful and I am trying to alleviate the stress by doing things early. However, with DN Van lines still using the incorrect destination after multiple communications and not actually reading my emails (if they were then I would know what forms of payment rather than what percentage) it is not comforting to me. I have selected another moving company that demonstrated attention to detail and have peace of mind that my belongings will arrive at the correct destination! In addition, they requested that the BBB take down my review stating that I was not a customer. MY review is the same as here. I state that "in the booking process" and that I my questions including payment were not answered so I selected another company. This supports my frustration that they do not pay attention to detail. We used DN Van Lines for a recent move within Massachusetts. I found their quote to be reasonable and working with the representative prior to and day of the move went well. However, once our stuff was delivered, the problems began. First, they carelessly picked up one of our shelving units and dropped it, causing it to scratch. They were 2 hours late in delivering our items. It was clear that when they arrived, they were rushing to get the job done. For example, when moving into our new home they crashed a bed frame into the frame of our front door, causing the wood to chip off. They stacked boxes in the basement explicitly where we asked them not to. Finally, and worst of all, we are missing items. When I inquired about these missing items, they told us we could "come to the warehouse" to look to see if they were there. They did not offer a refund or to deliver the items. I will not use them again and I will not recommend them. read more

These guys are great! Used them for a pretty big move into a storage unit that was half the size of the 26' truck and they got nearly everything into storage. Unreal. So neatly stored and used up every possible space. They were so careful with ALL the boxes and furniture. Fernandez was so helpful and was so nice to his co-worker movers, that they all worked really well together. Nice group of guys. They caused significant damage to my belongings, and to the new condominium into which I moved, in the course of the move, due to poor quality control and "low-ball" estimating that resulted in rushing to complete the job. Facts: After 4 days in a VA Hospital in Massachusetts (My nephew handled the finances) I had 4 days to move all my things from my 2 bedroom condo less than 20 miles to my storage facility. Price tag OVER $4,600.00. Damages still totally unknown as I cannot take my goods out of storage with no place to put them yet. Currently in a homeless shelter for Veterans. I am paying $500.00 a month rent at the shelter and $500 a month for the storage. Damage is at 30% of the 25% of what we have been able to look at. One TV was shown to me by their own employees. Has 4 scratches on the screen before it left the condo. Packed wrong by the first crew. I thought I was using a professional moving company but they tool total advantage of my situation and I do not doubt they will even let this review stay up. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and customer service at DN Van Lines, not to mention the damage done to my items. My husband and I trusted that the crew would be professional and wrap all the fabric/fragile items for moving. My upholstered furniture was not wrapped and the fabric is white!!! Only a few items were wrapped, which resulted in significant damage to the unwrapped items. The other factor which contributed to the damages was a lack of ability by the movers to organize the heaviest items to be placed on the bottom for storage. They were very disorganized and we had to reorganize and repack everything ourselves. In addition, my husband and I had difficulty with language issues and communication was insufficient with the crew. When I tried to file a claim form with the company for the damaged items, they were rude and dismissive. We got no compensation for our items, even after spending 2 days on the claim forms and attaching pictures clearly showing the damages caused by the DN Van Lines movers. The only problem I had with DN Van lines is that that were never on time. With the two trips I had both times they were over 2 hours late. But the movers were friendly and helpful. I will still recommend them but I would caution to have the entire day open, if they have a job before you. read more

I am not a huge Yelper, but I used DN Van Lines in 2013 for a move and then again in 2016 for my most recent move. I decided to use them again because they were great the first time, and I do believe they have only gotten better. 1. they arrived EARLY, which was awesome 2. I felt like I was buddies with the three movers by the end of the move; they were engaged, quick, conscientious and extremely careful. They asked detailed questions as well, which I appreciated. 3. They were also really patient with me, as I would change my mind about where heavy objects would go and I don't no indication of frustration; in fact, they seemed happy to help me figure it out! 4. I begged the movers to eat the pizza I ordered, but they only took only very quick 2-3 minute breaks to eat and said they didn't want to cut into my move time. 5. There was once incident that happened, but it was resolved so amicably and professionally that I doubt I would have gotten the same service somewhere else. I have a Queen Box spring (non-split) that had to get up a narrow staircase. The "head mover" expressed some reservations, but all four of decided it was worth a try. Low and behold, the newly painted walls got deeply scratched, the railing damages, the light fixture broken and the ceiling scratched. The movers felt terrible, told me to take pictures, and had me talk their manager right away to ensure that I was "taken care of." The Manager told me to get and estimate of the damage and I would be reimbursed. And that is exactly what happened! I didn't even have time to be upset because they quickly moved into action to resolve the situation. These are expert, classy, professional movers. I will continue to use them. read more

I hired DN Van Lines because they received good reviews online and had few BBB complaints. Their quote was reasonable as well. The move involved a book collection, which I meticulously packed and catalogued. The dispatcher was very helpful and professional, and he relayed detailed instructions to the crew. Unfortunately, there are two things to understand about this company: 1. They manage single-day moves and have a very difficult time coordinating an overnight move. The rep and I had discussed the possibility, and the financial aspect wasn't at issue (in fact, he was very accommodating in this regard). However, the actual coordination of the process left a lot to be desired. 2. They seem to hire whatever random people are at hand to slap together a crew. In this sense, it's a roll of the dice whether you get professionals who work well together or a bunch of jokers who give amateur hour a bad name. The first day's crew showed up at my house unprepared and confused. The head of the crew was a whiner who complained about pretty much every aspect of the move. He hadn't read the instructions handed to him by the dispatcher, so they got lost on the way over. Even though I had emphasized the need to send people who knew how to move a piano, they didn't and had neglected to provide a suitable ramp. I'm not sure how, but the crew finally got the piano into the truck without damaging it (or so I hope, since it now is in storage and hasn't really been tested). At the end of the first day (it was night already), the crew required me to pay the majority of the moving cost and strongly encouraged me to tip them. I felt very uncomfortable on both accounts since the move had not been completed and my possessions were stored in a truck. It is extremely disreputable to require payment prior to the completion of a move and inspection of the contents. But, I went along with this. Only because there WAS a second day did I get to see how awful the first crew truly was. The second day involved delivery to my storage facility. The second crew was far more professional than the first crew. But when they opened the truck, it looked like some packrat's disorganized closet. I had explicitly emphasized to the first crew that the book boxes must not be stacked more than 3 high. They were stacked floor to roof and sat at weird angles. There was no excuse for this; there were two trucks and plenty of unused space. For all I know, the boxes probably weren't even face-up. To their credit, the second crew did their best unloading this unholy mess. Many boxes were damaged, and even stacking them three-high in the storage facility now posed a problem due to their structural instability. A number of boxes were seriously damaged - crushed or with puncture marks -- and required inspection of the contents -- which, thank goodness, somehow escaped destruction. I probably couldn't have done a worse job loading the truck if I had tried. Heck, even postal employees flinging boxes with wanton abandon would have yielded a better result. So... if you at all care about your stuff, do NOT hire these jokers for any reason whatsoever. The guy on the phone may sound competent -- and he may be genuine -- but the crews they hire are hit or miss -- with an emphasis on "miss". read more

I have got the reference from a friend and I was worried initially. But after the move I have felt them as Excellent. You cannot ask for better, if you are looking to move in and around Boston they are the guys who can do your job. DN Van Lines has moved me twice in the past 4 years around the Boston and North Shore areas, both moves coordinated by Matt Stone. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about both experiences.. They moved me in 3 hours each time (while being quoted 3-5), didn't break a thing, moved very quickly and efficiently. They even took time to repair a recliner I had and put some furniture that had to be disassembled back together for me. Absolutely excellent. I wouldn't use any other moving company. A+!! read more

The worst in the business!!! Late for coming and going - damaged my carpeting, which cost me $500 to the people moving into my house. I submitted damages, but they told me they didn't want to do anything until I had them all in. They broke a nice bookcase into splinters. The crew was too small and the men were exhausted - as a result, I had to do some real pushing just to get them to unpack some glass items that concerned me. They did part of the packing and marked everything "miscellaneous". As I have gone through the process of unpacking, there are many broken items and some beautiful Christmas ornaments destroyed. Those who had a good experience were just lucky. They did a size estimate, but sent a truck too small and could not finish on day one. read more

Horrible Company!!!!! This was my first experience with a moving company and they made it a horrible one!!! My expensive bureau got a HUGE scratch and when I contacted the owner Oded Carmi he laughed at me said he didn't believe me and hung up the phone on me!!! I couldn't believe it!! Never met such dishonest people!!! and the movers were so rude and not helpful at all. They also took dozens of cigarette breaks on my property and then just threw the butts on my driveway. I had a positive experience with these people. I had never heard of them but decided to give it a try. Here are the pro and cons and things to know that might help your move. Pros: - They deliver in a reasonable time! This was the main reason why I hired them. The other companies-big ones- do not even give you a date, they only give you a window of time. My move was only 6 hours away and I was not going to wait for 2 weeks to get my furniture. DN Van Lines did not put my stuff with other peoples. The truck only had my furniture, they drove it the same day and delivered the day after. I see the same movers al along the move. 5 stars on that. Awesome! Cant beat that! - Friendly movers, courteous and nice. They worked fast and efficiently. It was easy to get an estimate as well with the agent. - Nothing was damaged, everything was delivered right. I didnt have anything expensive though, so not picky about a scratch here and there. I think it is just normal. Cons: (nothing big here but you may wanna know, especially if you have a tight budget) - My actual cost was about 10% higher than the quote for essentially no apparent reason. They had quoted me for 3 hours of loading and unloading (which i think is their minimum). My actual load and unload time was barely 2 hours, and I essentially did not need any extra materials etc. I still dont know why my initial quote was low or my cost was higher. Nothing unexpected happened that they did not account for when they gave me a quote. This made me think the company gives low unbinding quotes to get your business. I called to find out what caused the difference between prices. They said they would look at the final bill and contact me. Of course I never heard back, since I had already paid. Does not look professional not to return a call of a customer. Oh well. - They do not accept any cards for payment (no credit cards, not even debit cards).I dont know who in this century still writes checks, or uses money order?? I know some companies need card receipts for reimbursing a move. So be aware if youare moving for a compnay and expect to get reimbursed. I think DN Van Lines can catch up with technology here, it makes them look too old school. - Be aware that they make you sign something that says a recommended tip for movers is 10-15% of the total cost. Signing this is only to acknowledge that you are aware of their expectations I guess, nothing that forces you to tip by signing. But still... This amount can be very large for some moves and you will feel obligated to tip even if you are the most cruel person after seeing how hard they work. So add that 10-15% to your moving budget. I had asked about their tip policy when I reserved it and they did not give me a suggested amount then. I wish they did. Overall I recommend them for their fast delivery time, for not lumping my stuff with other customers, and for efficient work. Good luck everyone. read more

Although the movers were right on time, and were able to remove ALL items in the apartment (I double-checked that all items were in fact on the truck), I noticed a few days later that one VERY VALUABLE item was not placed in my new home. This was an antique, framed and relatively large painting that had been in my family for 100 years. I immediately called customer service and was informed that this item was not in their lost-in-found unit. I can only assume that it had not been taken off of the truck and one of the movers are now in possession of this painting. read more

Very unimpressed. Not only was there extra charges for time and travel that were glossed over or blatantly lied about in the initial quote, the move day happened to be raining and no covers were used for any of my items or furniture. Even though one mover was in the truck the entire time of loading, it was over 45 minutes from the time the last furniture item was loaded to the time the truck left (1 bedroom apartment). Items were placed in wrong rooms in the new location even though clearly labeled and I was present to instruct the movers as to where items should go as they came off the truck. The customer service was rude when I called to complain and basically told me "too bad". Extremely unethical. In this day and age with so many honest companies to choose from, steer clear of this bad business practice. read more

I had two parts to my move because of a lag between home closings so my stuff had to go to storage for almost 3 weeks. The three movers were on time, very friendly, really fast and wrapped everything really well. I could have done without the "speech" about tipping, but otherwise they were very good. I still have many boxes to unpack, but so far nothing was broken. My only complaint about this company was with the "move coordinator". When I called to get a quote, I was given a time frame but was not told that they would charge me to drive to back the storage facility and unload the truck. Their storage facility was an hour from my home, so that tacked on another hour (plus unloading) to the cost. I didn't realize this until he emailed me the contract and by that time it was too late to change movers. I also was not told I'd be charged for packing tape (incidental) and tolls! Why should I pay for tolls - that should have just been part of the hourly cost. I was surprised that I didn't get any kind of confirmation by email or phone. I emailed the move coordinator for both moves to confirm the details. If you're going right from one home to another, I would recommend this company. If you need to put items in storage and live any distance from Marlborough, I'd recommend looking for a company that has storage closer to where you live. read more

Working with the office, I was given a direct moving coordinator, so it was easy to talk to the same person each time, and to clarify the details. The movers showed up right on time and were A-MAZING. Great people to work with, great service, as good as it gets for a move!!! Gabriel and Christian worked quickly and efficiently. They were polite and friendly, but worked fast and hard. We were packed up in about half the time I expected. The truck went from Connecticut to Brookline, MA to pick up some more things - then on to delivery in Allston. The apartment was on the 5th floor - with a very small elevator, so several larger pieces of furniture had to be walked up the stairs. The guys just kept moving, like the Energizer Bunnies. They did wrap a few delicate pieces, but said they didn't need to wrap everything. I believed them and everything arrived in perfect condition. When they were done, they even put together 2 pieces of furniture that they hadn't taken apart. read more

I moved Feb 25th 2014 and the guys that moved me were nice and worked very hard they consistently worked the entire time they were here. However, since the move I have noticed some of my things are broken IE' lampshades and 3 pieces of furniture have gouges and scratches, They also broke the leg off a coffee table and when I brought it to their attention the response was" that was going to break anyway" the leg was not loose at all. Now that I'm at the stage of hanging mirrors and pictures I'm noticing the hangers on the mirrors and frames are all bent and I can't get them back in place. I was told that I only had one day after the move to lodge a complaint. Most of this damage I didn't find out until I started moving boxes out of the way etc. Also the final bill was $400.00 over the estimate despite me giving a detailed report of the amount of stuff I had to move. I am dissapointed overall by the damage and lack of care that was used to transport my things. read more
