Didn't know this hidden gem existed until a Yelp event brought me here... the building has a rich history, there is a credit union and there is delicious food... stuffed cabbage, perogies and chicken dinners just to name a few... there's also a full service bar and the staff is incredibly friendly! The event gave us samples of food from outside vendors... but I did order drinks and perogies.. drinks were great, a green drink called toxic waste and a vodka with club soda and a twist... the perogies were something to write home about! What an interesting space this is. Formally a church and it appears over the years used for several other purposes. It's now used by many Ukrainian organizations. There's a bar and a couple other beautiful party spaces that can be rented out. Not sure if you need to be a member. We enjoyed some food being cooked in the kitchen that's in the bar area. OMG, delicious! My pierogis were smothered in a layer of bacon and onions. So good! My husband ordered borscht soup which he seemed to like. We both enjoyed some Ukrainian beers. Very tasty indeed. Came here for a special event to celebrate the grand opening of the Ukrainian Kitchen! The bartender and ladies in the kitchen were super friendly and they had lots of tables setup and music playing as well. The food was good but limited since they ran out of a few of the homemade items before we arrived. I had borscht and spilt two types of dumplings with the people I came with. We also each had a Ukrainian beer. I'd like to come back again soon though so I can try the homemade dessert and stuffed cabbage rolls. read more

Love this unique hidden gem venue in Buffalo! I attended an event back in July 2021 at the cultural center and it was such a welcoming atmosphere- large two floor spaces available for your biggest of celebrations, and multiple bars and kitchen space. They also have authentic Ukrainian dishes for sale made by the sweetest ladies in their beautiful traditional dresses. I could fill my belly full of their pilmenti. The parking is plenty, so you don't have to worry about that when choosing this space to host your event. They have outdoor event space as well for the warmer summer months. It also has a wonderful local Ukrainian feel to it because the wonderful folks who manage it have Ukrainian heritage and passionate about it. This kitchen is open every Friday 6-9pm with traditional Ukrainian food made by their cook Tatyana who recently moved to buffalo from Ukraine. We had varenyky (pierogis), borscht, cabbage rolls and what was billed as a cream pastry for dessert. The borscht was supposed to be red beet; it was not, but we didn't care b/c it was so good! Veggies, spices (including dill), potatoes. The desserts we chose were tiny tarts with whipped cream and meringue maybe? They have specials every week. We saw a pumpkin porridge, among other offerings. We would have given it 5 stars but we had to order for takeout b/c they had a live band playing in that small space and it was waaaaaay too loud! And, when we arrived home, we discovered that our desserts had been omitted, so back we had to go. If you get take-out, be sure to check your bag b4 you leave. (We had no hassle when we returned for our desserts, even though someone else was at the ordering table.) read more

Old building over 100 years old with a style of European Rathskeller or Underground Pub. Being a private Club, one must be accompanied by a payed member. And social membership can be obtained by asking the bar manager for details. This was a cool new spot we found thanks to Alex our local representative of Yelp having a party there! What fantastic food and a unique selection of beers and drinks. Recently attended a yelp event at DNIPRO UKRAINIAN CENTER. It was so nice to attend an event in a building I have not been before.I found the building to be spacious and richly decorated.Several samples were presented.The sandwiches from MIDDLE SISTERS were delicious as were the spring rolls and sweet potatoes fries from SUN ROLL food truck.The ladies making the dumplings in the kitchen were working hard keeping the samples going.I decided to try a UKRAINIAN obolon lager.It was different but enjoyable. This was a nice event, an opportunity to try new things and visit new places. read more

I don't understand this venue and it feels blasphemous to be here for some of the events that are hosted here. This is not a church anymore, right? The grand ballroom still has quite a few Eastern Orthodox icons, paintings of Jesus and everything that I grew up with being from a family who baptized me and introduced me to a few traditions of an Eastern Orthodox Church. That being said, I was just here on Saturday evening for an event and there was a risque burlesque show being performed with the MC dropping hedonistic, heathen language left and right. I didn't mind. I was quite hypnotized and enthralled by it all, but having all this happen while looking at familiar religious icons on the walls was offbeat, incongruous, wonky and pretty cool. In the process of writing this review, I visited their web site and saw that this is solely an event space now. They rent the bar area + main ballroom. It's great to see this sort of re-purposed space on the East Side hopping alive. Look forward to Prom of the Dead, Cirque de la Lune and many other events happening here throughout the year! Recently attended a yelp event at DNIPRO UKRAINIAN CENTER. UNKNOWN to me prior to the event,I was amazed as to how much room the building housed. Nicely decorated interior, this building can host a variety of events.The food samples we were gratefully presented were tasty and made by two ladies who appeared to enjoy cooking for us. A few other samples, including BORSH, which I did not try, appeared to be flying off the table and must have been delicious. This 1914 building on Buffalo's East Side is really a treasure. Every part of the facility is nicely maintained and the members/volunteers I've encountered at each event are helpful and friendly. Downstairs, a HUGE bar area is stocked with all manner of Ukranian beers (I suggest the Obolon Lager). Under an arched ceiling with gold leaf detail, you can shoot some pool, play darts, or just socialize. On Fridays from 4-9pm, they offer full restaurant service--with Polish, Ukranian, and American food served in a bright, friendly space that feels like a step back in time to around 1950. Moving upstairs, there's another bar--not quite as grand, but still well-stocked and with ample seating. It's adjacent to the real standout space in this venue: the ballroom. With beautifully maintained vintage murals covering just about every square inch from the floor to domed ceiling, this is a truly impressive room. Walking in is always sort of a "wow!" moment. I've been to several events at this venue, which is getting increased usage as a site for fundraisers (mostly for arts and social issue groups) but also for occasional theatrical performances and concerts/dances. All of the spaces are available for rent at quite reasonable prices--so, in addition to attending interesting event there, you might consider hosting one of your own! read more

My uncle had a wedding reception in this building like 15 years ago and I remember it being kind of big an ominous at the time. (I was in my teens) Was here for the first time since the other night for a memorial party for a friend and had a great time. Very old school building with a nice big hall with ornate paintings on the ceiling. That covers most of the second floor, a little separate bar room area behind that, with another bar on the lower floor. A fine selection of Eastern European beers is able to be had. I believe you may have to be a member to rent this place out, but it's pretty cheap to join from my understanding. Definitely a cool piece of history on the east side from Buffalo's more prosperous years. read more

My husband is Ukrainian and thanks to his heritage I have discovered this fabulous place. I personally think they have the best fish fry in the city. It's DELICIOUS! He loves their braised cabbage- Kapusta. Everyone there feels like family, it's just a really great place to grab a drink and some great food on a Friday night. It feels very Eastern European and I love that. I'm not Ukrainian but I really appreciate the way this club has stayed close to it's roots and heritage. They have really neat events and treat their members so well. I've been a member for 2 years now. This Sunday August 21, 2016 from 12-8 they are celebrating Ukrainian American day.
