On 7/4/26, a staff member was sitting in the cooler handing out water bottles -- 1-2 each -- to select customers, but skipped over us entirely. When we finally got inside, she asked how we were doing. My 80-year-old mother mentioned it was hot, and the employee replied, "Is it that hot since you're out?" -- dismissive, especially right after handing out water to other customers and not us. It felt like the staff cater to a certain type of customer, and we didn't fit that mold. Very disappointing and disheartening after being loyal customers for so long especially on July 4th.

I only say that to make the point I have been to a lot of nurseries in my day. Covington's is one of the best nurseries I have been to. They have an amazing selection of plants and all of their plants are very healthy and ready for their new homes! Even their half-price greenhouse plants looked great! Their prices were comparable to other local nurseries but selection and service is what Covington's rocks on. I was asked everytime I went to a new section if I needed any assistance. These folks were amazing and I can't wait to come back, even though this place is nowhere near my home!

The service was friendly and they had several employees around if you needed help. They even had plastic available to put in your car if needed. Parking is limited on site but there is plenty of street parking in the adjacent neighborhood. I also loved that landscapers were stopping in to get items. This is also a good thing to see when going to a nursery or plant shop. All of their items seem in great shape and taken care of well. I ended up getting some hydrangeas that were beautiful. The prices were reasonable for the quality you get. I will make sure to stop in again when I'm in the area.

It was a super cold day but because of the wide variety of tropicals the green house stays warm and toasty. There were a couple of people working and I was immediately greeted by a woman near the front door (I unfortunately didn't catch her name) and the most adorable doggo. Do not bring food unless you're willing to share or you'd like to bribe for the company. I had leftovers from Soirée down the street in tow which resulted in a sweet shopping buddy. Anyway, their plant selection is MASSIVE and I didn't go in looking for anything in particular and left with two new plants and a new human friend. They have the basics all the way up to the trendy like the Giganthus (pictured) and are super knowledgeable and willing to help with any of your plant needs. Even for some good advice on how to ACTUALLY use that banana water without killing my plants. Point being, I'll be back. It's a cool place. You won't regret it but don't kid yourself into thinking you're walking out empty handed.

I simply adore the people. I love David who is the famous floral guru. I love the front desk team they make me so happy. It is my Happy Place and I love seeing my buddies the kitties as they sleep and I am so grateful it is the finest store I have been too, I have also been a shopper at the other store as well for years. It is bigger plants, different inventory, not too many gifts but I have been there for 34 years as a customer. I LOVE LOVE LOVE everyone who works there and of course I have my favorites. Lousy service, average quality. On top of that, Southwest Nursery claims to be wholesale but sells…read morematerials at prices that barely compete with retail nurseries in the area. The only redeeming factor is they will often have a plant that is hard to find at competing nurseries. That being said, it takes about a week to get someone to call you back and around 2 hours waiting at the nursery so you better really want it.

For all the haters giving a one star review, you have to understand this is a wholesale nursery. They have busy times and slow times of the day. And yes, you have to be a landscaper to visit there.
