We were back in town to visit the family and they wanted to do taco Tuesday with us and their friends. We made a 5pm reservation just in case but it didn't seem necessary. One of the friends was there already and seated so we had our table ready. Everything seemed to start ok but started falling apart shortly after, our waiter took our drink orders and it took a minute to get them. Once the rest of the party got there it took longer and longer to get stuff. There were only 2 people taking care of the entire restaurant inside and out. Our waiter just got overwhelmed with everything as well as the whole staff. The margaritas were a little one the weak side, a ton of ice and you could barely taste any tequila. Once the food came out it was good. I enjoyed my burger, it was a good size and tasted good. It was a little over cooked for my liking but enjoyable. The fries were good and cooked to order. The wife's tacos were good as well and everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Overall it's a decent place but seems like they could use some staffing upgrades. read more

Tworare cheeseburgers. I got American; they got cheddar. They got onion rings; I got fries. Everything was awesome. I asked if they could cook it rare and they cooked it rare. it was so rare I just loved it. It had a nice flavor. It comes with some nice lettuce and tomato and onion but I don't like onions... actually I don't dislike onions but my stomach just likes them. Everything came packed really well and it was the perfect temperature. Because the french fries were in a warm container there was a little condensation so I stuck them in the toaster oven to recryst them up. I had one of my roommates onion rings they were just awesome. They were just a perfect crunch a perfect flavor. My air fryer request french fries were really good. They were perfectly fine when I got them home I just like extra crispy fries. If I had been quicker when the food was brought in it would have been fine but I was not as fast as I should have been at opening things up. BWP did everything right. They gave us a little side sauce which was a red sauce that tasted really good. I dipped it the french fries, but it did taste good if you dip the burger in it. It's close by and is reliable I was practical things that are important in life but it also has good food and a fair price for everything. I was really happy with my choice. I haven't been person imma take out person but it's been awesome take out. I know I can trust them to make the food the way I want it. It gets here relatively quick when we're picking it up. My husband and I like to sit at the bar and have a bite to eat. Tacos are great as well as sharing a big pretzel is always a treat! Recently, we visited and there was a bartender that I hadn't encountered in my visits before. Having been in the service/restaurant business myself, she stood out! I watched her scrub the coolers behind the bar with hot soapy water, (if you can lean, you can clean!) restock everything and when she set us up for our dinner at the bar, she anticipated our every need.. How can I not like a place that is named after three of my favorite food items? Yes, beer included, since I always say, there is a sandwich in every beer. I had a craving, but didn't really know what for. Actually, yes I did, was kind of craving everything from pizza, to burgers, to wings, and this place had it all. So, I figured why not give it a try. It was Sunday night, and the Giants were playing the late game, so I worried it might be packed. The tables were, but they had a really nice long bar, so I grabbed a seat there. The bar server was really nice, and offered me samples of some of the brews they had on tap. After looking through the menu, and the reviews on Yelp, I decide to go with the burger, wings, and some onion rings to go. It took a little time, but gave me a chance to try some more beer, and the food came out nice and hot. I was very impressed with the onion rings. Beer battered, big, crispy, and tasty. I could've eaten an entire additional order, they were that good, and just because I love onion rings. The burger was perfect. As, I've said in other posts of mine on Yelp, it's hard to mess up a burger, but some places do, and others know how to do it just right. This one was that, not over or under cooked, but just right, and juicy. The wings were a nice touch. The spice they had for mild was really unique, almost like colonel's 12 herbs and spices, and not to mention, they threw in some extra wings at no charge. There were lots of televisions to watch the games, and they did a nice job of posting what games were going to be played on what televisions, so there was no arguing among the patrons. I didn't get to try the pizza, but from what I saw from other orders, it looked just as good as the rest of their menu items. I think this place is pretty comparable to a ski resort pub. Typical less-than-mediocre American-style food. The boneless wings were way small and tasteless (shocking because I got medium Buffalo and blueberry BBQ). I give those a 1/5. The fries and cheese pizza, however, were pretty tasty. Coming in for dinner on a Wednesday afternoon is interesting, because not only do kids eat free, but there's a 2-for-1 happy hour. I can't figure out whether they're trying to say, "Everybody gets something!" or "Hey parents, with your kids here, you're going to need that second drink!" On a serious note for a moment, if you're going to have a kids-eat-free offer, you really need a baby changing station in the men's room. When I walked in there, I saw a dad having to resort to changing his son's diaper on the sink/counter. C'mon, you can do better than that, and I see you've had other comments about that from as long as 2 years ago. Okay, on to the food, drink, and service... all good. I enjoyed the beer selection, though I couldn't review it thoroughly because I was so caught up in the Saratoga Artisanal Brew Works Smores Brown Ale. And darn it, I had to be given a second one. Many thanks to our waitress who endured my questions on it. Our dinners tonight included an order of fish and chips substituting sweet potato fries, and my California Burger, plus a side order of tonight's vegetable, roasted brussels sprouts. My only (small) complaint about the meal is that I would have liked my fries to have been cooked slightly longer for a bit more crispness, but they were otherwise meaty and tasty, and the sweet potato fries were even better. My burger was cooked to order and had some nice texture to it with the burger and the various toppings. Plus - and this is a big plus for me - the fries (both types) were not heavily salty. To start, Fish tacos - the size of fish i got was pathetically small, it took up as much room as the lettuce in 2/3 of my tacos. The taco to the right had a standard amount. I didn't say anything because it was a to-go order, but seriously unsure how they let this one leave the kitchen... I would have rather they called me back and asked me to order something else if they were out of fish. Also, who puts sliced tomatoes on tacos? You put diced tomatoes on tacos.... And the cream/Mayo sauce wasn't right for the dish. It was like they tried using burger condiments for a taco and it just was no good. Hello fresh could do it better. I've also had the nachos here, and they are good sometimes but are too often inconsistent, just like my tacos. 3 stars because they do have good wings. Went for the first time yesterday with 3 others. It's an odd location, but easy enough to get to and there's plenty of parking since it's in a residential (apartment complex) area. They still have a few kinks to work out, but give them some time...it's only been about 3 months or so. None of us tried the pizza - 2 had burgers, one had a grilled chicken sandwich and I had the ahi tuna entree. Reviews on the burgers were good - one was ordered rare to medium rare and it was cooked right. She didn't care for the fries - I tried them and thought they were good; she thought they were too mushy. One person had the saratoga chips with the burger - said they were "too dry" (so she borrowed the dipping sauce for the fries and was fine). All 3 of the sandwiches had a "special sauce" on it - even though it wasn't necessarily ordered that way. Perhaps we missed that fine print, but one of the people at the table has a soy sensitivity and I'm pretty sure that it was a version of russian dressing (mayo-based...not for someone with a soy issue...). The burgers/sandwiches were also "build your own"....so when a sandwich is ordered with just grilled onions, she didn't expect to have raw onion, lettuce and tomato as well (along with the special sauce). Still - minor detail that we might have missed the menu. Good reviews on the grilled chicken sandwich (and this particular person is really picky). The only issue: she doesn't like toasted buns (I mentioned that she's picky, right?). :) The ahi tuna was cooked medium rare with a nice seasoning on the outside. It came with cooked green beans and onions....with a smear of a garlic mayo sauce on the plate (very tasty). I really enjoyed the tuna - good quality and had a very nice flavor. Wait staff was nice enough and checked back with us frequently. I'll give this place another shot. read more

While I wouldn't call their customers a captive crowd, the old advice of location, location, location had to be a consideration for these owners of two other popular restaurants when they chose to open their third venture with a different concept in the middle of a newly built, mostly residential setting. The owners of Wheatfields Restaurant in downtown Saratoga and Wheatfields Bistro and Wine Bar in the Clifton Park Crossings strip mall are focusing on three items at their newest location that naturally go well together: Beer, Wine, and Pizza. Thus the name, BWP Local Grille. And it can be found in The Springs combined apartment and commercial complex along Weibel Avenue on the outskirts of Saratoga. We were not surprised to find it busy on a Friday evening about 6 pm even though it had only been open about a month. We were informed it would be about a 25 minute wait for a table so we grabbed the last couple of seats at the bar and ordered a couple of drafts, Lake Placid Ubu ($6.50/pint) and 21st Amendment Bitter American ($5.50/pint). Talking to the gentleman seated next to us, we learned that the mix of townhouses/condos/apartments were pretty much fully leased out and he had to walk only about 100 feet to take the elevator to his residence. Many of the other residents were also regular customers. Our table was actually ready in what seemed like less than the time predicted. While the menu is printed on what appears to be a placemat, once you order the menus are taken away. We haven't found a replacement for our favorite Nachos since a particular brewpub in Latham went out of business. So while the search continues we ordered them here ($10) with the optional Chile ($2) and Guacamole ($1). They are a good sized serving of chips that are not overly salty, topped with melted cheese, tomato, olives, scallion, and jalapeno. Salsa and sour cream are served on the side. The two scoops of Guac were surprisingly good and large considering the upcharge. However, I think that the kitchen should consider layering the chips and regular toppings to provide a more even distribution. Speaking of the kitchen, while the restaurant had a full house, the kitchen appeared to be well prepared for the onslaught. I counted about 8 staff working away in the open kitchen, two in black outfits supervising and the rest working diligently in their whites. This may have accounted for the prompt serving that we received. Our waitress, Kara, was a very warm, friendly and perky individual who kept a close look on us and all her other tables. She made every effort to pace our order so that our pizza would not arrive before we finished our nachos. When it did arrive early, she was right there offering to rectify the situation. Yes, we tried a Supreme Pizza ($13.95) topped with sausage, peppers, olives, bacon, onion, and mozzarella. These are 12 inch pies cut into 8 pieces. They are thicker than the typical wood-fired cracker thin crust, more the Neapolitan style from their gas fired tile oven. The pizza was good and the crust was light. While it won't compete with our favorite pizza, with the right toppings it's perfect along with their excellent selection of craft beers. The only real negative I could find here was the noise level was rather high with a full house, almost enough to drown out the background music. We're very likely to stop in again to try the burgers, they list eight just with beef ($8.25 - 10.25). Triple the eight if you choose to substitute turkey or chicken. There is also the one lonely half-pound Hot Dog ($2), four salads ($10.95 - 11.95), and five entrees with a choice of Tuna, Cod, Chicken, Pork or Beef ($13.95 - 16.95). We had great service here two nights ago. Our waitress was Alison and she was excellent! We had a different waitress two weeks ago - I wish I could remember her name but she has red hair - she was awesome too. They have great wings here - they are a good size and crispy. After a busy day, we decided to pick up pizza and salad at BWP- it's fairly close and has gluten free pizza to meet dietary restrictions. We ordered a gluten-free buffalo chicken pizza, a side of vegetables and blue cheese and ahi tuna salad- our bill was just over 30 dollars. Upon opening the pizza box when we got home, we found the pizza to look like an overcooked 13" flatbread with a handful of chicken in buffalo sauce thrown in the very center of the pie, no sauce coating the pizza and a tiny bit of cheese. The "crust" portion was about 3 inches wide- absolutely hard like a bagel chip. The taste wasn't horrible, however it definitely wasn't that if pizza. Come on--- isn't that in the name of the restaurant???? See photo. So, celery and blue cheese are yummy with buffalo chicken, right? Not so much when the carrots are visibly brown on the ends and slimy and the celery translucent and rubbery (frozen and thawed or perhaps just rotten). I am not one to waste food, but at the risk of catching food poisoning of sorts, it went directly into the compost pile (after i took a photo). Moms salad was decent, perhaps on the small side for the price. A big disappointment- we were hoping that a close restaurant would be great for busy nights- based on a great premise and affiliated with the Wheatfields- it's supposed to be a shoe-in, right??? read more

If your benchmark for wings is Duffs and your pizza benchmark is Pepe's.... coupled with this faux-country urban lifestyle development center that goes against anything that Saratoga Springs and environment used to represent prior to the pre-Bonnaccio Jersification and the Kardashian set arrivals. The beer is fine...but the wings and pizza? Not even close to the aforementioned. A doughy chewy puffy crust and wings that should be cooked like shoe leather (called extra crispy) with ample Franks was non-existent (hot in Saratoga usually means gringo mild if you have actually left the county or greater Albany region). Probably safe for the non-discriminating suburban Marty McGillicuddy set..but if you have remotely developed tastebuds this place is what you would find in Charlotte and Phoenix or some suburban nondescript wasteland. read more

We tried this cute little sports bar last night for a quick bite to eat. The football games were on so it was getting pretty loud, but that's what you expect with a sports bar nearing the super bowl. The bar is pretty good if you are going to watch the game, 4 or 5 tvs hung up behind the bar which is nice. I also liked that the kitchen was open so you could see the oven where they cook their pizza. We ordered the saratoga chips appetizer, 2 beers, and a pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives. Everything tasted great and prices weren't bad. Service was also good too. I only had two complaints but neither would prevent me from going back. First complaint is that apparently they had a Sunday special menu, but we weren't given one and only knew because we overheard the table next to us get one. And second is our pizza didn't have pepperoni on every slice, which is ok because I'm not that big on pepperoni but if we're ordering pepperoni it's probably because we want some on each slice of pizza. Overall a good experience, nothing keeping me from returning, but nothing that necessarily has me running back either, but definitely worth a shot. read more

I love burgers! And my boyfriend loves pizza so this was an excellent choice for meeting both our desires. We got seated immediately for a party of four, we went with friends. Lots to choose from on the menu, tastes for everyone in the pizza and burger areas. I got the bbq burger, which was great! The burger was cooked perfect medium. The burger is a good size, not to big or small. The bun is also toasted and tastes delicious. My boyfriend got the blue burger (instead of pizza haha), over cooked but other than that he liked it. We all got the sweet potato fries, an expensive up-charge of $3. I was also charged $1.50 for a side of bbq sauce, i was shocked at that. The sweet potato fries with Melba sauce were delicious though. The service was a teeny bit slow that night as it seemed relatively busy, however overall the visit was good! Good food, prices depending on what you order are a little expensive. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is good too, for family and friends. Place is nestled in an apartment complex, which I didn't mind at all. Staff was very friendly. They were very accommodating to my family and I. I'm a minority and they treated me with the upmost respect. We got a lot of looks from customers, but we are used to it. Our waiter was very nice and very attentive knowing we have 3 kids who are always indecisive. He made us feel very comfortable. He even recommended a artisan beer for myself even though he didn't drink beer. He was spot on though, the pumpkin beer was smooth and tasteful. Food was pretty good, especially the wings. Lightly crispy and flavorful. The owner or supervisor made sure we were okay with everything and made sure we were all comfortable with where we were seated. Our granddaughters were playing in a soccer tournament today in Saratoga, so we went to BWP to eat afterwards, as they had a 4-hour drive to get home. We went here because we searched restaurants online. When BWP came up in the search on a Saratoga .com Family-Friendly Restaurants site, it showed BWP also offers a Family Meal Deal-get 3 pepperoni or cheese pizzas and nearly a pound of boneless wings for just $40.! That ad is the entire reason we went there. With gas for traveling 4 hrs. for the tournament, meals both days plus a 2-night hotel stay, it gets very expensive for the parents. We were a party of 8 people, so that deal was perfect. When we told the waiter we wanted the family deal, he looked confused, as if he had never heard of it. He went back to ask someone and came back and said that is for takeout only. If that is the case, that SHOULD be printed under the ad and is not. It is probably to get families into the restaurant and they assume people are not going to get up and leave, instead ordering off the regular menu which we did, not having time to go somewhere else. They also charge extra for celery and bleu cheese for the wings which I have never seen done. So what we thought was going to be a nice break out of an expensive weekend was not, instead amounting to a $140. check. Our waitress should have checked in on us a little more and didnt ask what kind of cheese i wanted on my burger, but nevertheless our Waitress was decent. My big problem was the food itself. As i said i ordered a burger, medium. What i got was a underdone burger that made me feel physically sick every bite i took. The fries where soggy, unsalted, and overall just bad. Went today for lunch, and Chantal gave awful service. To start, I ordered a water and I got an eye roll. We ordered wings as an app. I ordered penne pasta and my sister got a chicken caesar salad. While placing our order Riley came over cut us off while we placing our order to tell Chantal something. Instead of finishing taking our order, she went into the system to do what he needed, then apologized to us saying she didn't get what we ordered so had to ask us again. Quite a few minutes later, she comes back drops a menu in front of me and goes 'we're out of pasta." I open the menu to look and she impatiently asks "so what do you want instead?" The wings come, and I ask for little plates. She's working on making drinks and standing there making garnishes. She's working on something for another customer, okay, but plates are 5 steps away, instead of just grabbing us the plates, she's just taking her time working on those drink garnishes. Drinks are made so she starts talking to a coworker, then starts cutting limes. Again we ask for plates. She brings the plates over, then says, "I was almost done cutting my limes but keep getting distracted having to do things" -- sorry to be such a distraction. Salads come out and my sister's salad doesn't have chicken on it. My sister tells her, and she gives us attitude and tells her to look again because it's probably just mixed in. No, there's no chicken on it. So she goes "well i guess I can go ask them to make some to put on the side, or what do you want me to do bring your salad back?" I would've said something, but I'm pretty sure Riley was the manager working because she had to ask him to come over to void the pasta off the check, but he was talking to another employee making that's what she said jokes, so I didn't think it was worth talking to him. I love it here! The food is amazing and as soon as you walk in you are greeted by welcoming staff. The waitress was very tentative and made us feel very welcome and the food came out quick. We were able to watch a football game on one of the many tvs and had the best nachos! I will be frequently visiting with family and friends and suggest anyone to so the same!:) read more

A solid 3 stars for this place. Honestly the food in the Saratoga area is way to good and this place is okay at best. They have a lot of options which is cool and I honestly enjoyed their chicken buffalo wontons and their bacon cheese fries. I ordered a beer on tap that was just added and I honestly haven't idea what it was but the waitress offered it as one of the speciality choices and it was for sure interesting.
