This is the second time that my husband and I have been to Saratoga Springs so we wanted to try this restaurant out because we weren't able to last time we visited. The restaurant itself had good vibes very busy and for how busy it was the service was great. I forgot what drinks we ordered, but I remember them being balanced and delicious. I really liked those hot honey deviled eggs. They were very unique and different and I would definitely order them again. They cooked our steak perfectly, medium rare, and we added shrimp and mac & cheese to that dish and we shared it. It was also very good. Seneca in Saratoga is absolutely worth a visit for the food alone. The restaurant's wood-fired concept and open kitchen create a fun, energetic dining experience, and the service was excellent from start to finish. We had 7:30 PM reservations on a Thursday and were seated immediately. The atmosphere wasn't quite my style. The tile flooring felt a bit busy, and the seating is very simple with hard-back chairs. I think the space could benefit from a few cozier touches to match the quality of the food. That said, it was bustling and vibrant. The beverage program was great. We enjoyed a bottle of Pinot Noir, and I was impressed by the beer selection, which featured a lot of local breweries rather than the typical mainstream options. For starters, the French onion dip was phenomenal and is an absolute must-order. The Parker rolls were also highly recommended by our server and lived up to the hype. The bread is incredibly fluffy with just a hint of sweetness. For dinner, I had the crab spaghetti with squid ink, which was delicious and loaded with lump crab. It does have a briny, seafood-forward flavor, so it's best suited for those who enjoy that profile. The burger was a hit with the men at the table, although my fiancé wasn't a huge fan of the wood-fired ketchup, which has a distinct smoky flavor. We also tried the mushroom lasagna. Despite the name, it's not traditional lasagna noodles layered with mushrooms. Instead, mushrooms act as the layers. It wasn't what we expected, but it was still excellent. Overall, the food and service were outstanding, and I'd highly recommend Seneca. A few tweaks to the atmosphere could make it even better, but the quality coming out of that kitchen makes it a standout dining spot in Saratoga. read more

Perfect everything. Absolute wow. Have been wanting to come to Seneca for a while now and so we made a reservation for an after graduation celebration which is super easy to do on their website. Upon walking in the host and servers were super nice and we were seated promptly. The space itself is super nice! Not crowded at all but definitely means you should make a reservation as they are super popular! Food was amazing! DO NOT MISS THE ROLLS! I'd come back just for the rolls, they were so soft, fluffy, and light with the perfect flaky salt on top to balance with the whipped honey butter. Delicious! Perfect date night dinner. My husband and I hadn't been able to get out and have time for US. We wanted a nice, intimate, sit-down dinner where we could just enjoy each other's company over a few drinks. Seneca SERVED! I totally forgot our waiter's name, but he was the BEST. He even brought a purse hook for my furry YSL (the sweetest). I was totally fine slinging it over my chair but our server was like "not on my watch Queen"...ok he didn't SAY that exactly but I can have scenarios playing in my head, right? We made a RESY through RESY--no issues, we were sat right away. I browsed the menu prior to coming an immediately knew we needed to start with drinks (a SALTED Caramel Espresso for me and a beer for my guy). Drink was exquisite, so I had 2. We started off with the oysters that were beyond delicious with that chorizo oil. For the entrees we ordered the NY Strip with grilled shrimp (husband said it was cooked perfectly) and I got the shrimp and grits. I'm not a big fan of grits; but I saw someone else's plate and it looked amazing. No complaints on food whatsoever. I also want to mention that if you're in a pinch for a last minute reservation--utilize the Global Dining Club through AMEX-I was able to get a table same day! Stay away fin this place! This restaurant used to be fantastic. I couldn't believe the service that we got, the food came back over an hour late, and cold. The fish was underseasoned, but at least the swordfish was cooked so that's a good thing. But I did need salt and I didn't even get salt for the whole evening from our server Anna. A lady said they comp us because the hanger steak was very cold, the same temp as the salsa. Then we looked at our bill and they didn't even comp us. But my boyfriend noticed that later. The manager was extremely flippant when my boyfriend decided not to buy a cocktail, but got water and he rolled his eyes at him. He also raised his voice to me when I asked him if I could have a drink. I didn't know he was a manager until they decided not to comp us. I would say this place used to be excellent but it's definitely gone downhill. Probably a change in management or staff or maybe not the same chef , but I will never go back there again with rude servers and lack of professionalism. I'd say don't go here! Please save your money go to 15 Church or Hamlet and Ghost, where the environment is friendly and staff are professional, and you get what you pay for when it comes to the food, which is excellent. I finally made it to Seneca and I am so glad I did. This place has been on my list for years, but I don't make it up to Saratoga as much as I'd like. We arrived before they opened to grab a seat at the bar, we received great service from the bartenders, and amazing drinks. I am currently obsessed with blue cheese stuffed olives and the Dirty French is an excellent martini, I subbed for gin of course. I ordered two because they were so good. The allure of these Parker House rolls has been a main driver to visit, how good could they be? Well I'll tell you they exceeded my already super high expectation. They were so fluffy it seemed to deft physics, salty, sweet, melt in your mouth with a perfect salty butter to smear all over the fresh and hot rolls. Amazing bread. We opted for a small app to share as well, the wood grilled oysters. They were topped with a chorizo butter and green onion sauce. I love oysters and I feel like this preparation overpowered the flavor of the oyster, but it was a delicious bite with great flavors. We both opted for beef, my sister ordered the Ribeye with Mac and cheese and I ordered the Hangar steak. The ribeye was a large cut, on the thinner side, perfectly cooked to medium rare. This dish was served with a bone marrow Mac and cheese. She has had this in the past and stated the Mac and cheese is usually creamier, but this dish may have been overcooked. She enjoyed her meal but it seems that consistency fell off a touch here. I ordered the Hanger steak, rare, and it was so tender and perfectly cooked. I loved it, I would definitely try this cut again. The duck fat potatoes with it were a little different than expected, more like tater tots, but still good. The tomato salsa added nothing to this dish. The meats were spot on for both the entrees, but the pairing fell a little flat. I have already recommended this place to a few people based on the experience, I would definitely return to try more menu items, the excellence definitely outshined the few nit picks I have. Absolutely AMAZING!! This has been on my must visit list for their wood grilled meats but it was so crowded and hard to get reservations during city conference rush. Thankfully was able to make it and it did not disappoint! They even gave us a call before reservation time to check in with us which was thoughtful of them. When we arrived, party of 2 was sat at the 4 person table near the window during sunset which was beautiful. Service was beyond spectacular by Nicole!!! She was so polite and helpful from the very beginning with providing hot water (a whole kettle too!), menu recommendations, and even providing substitution free of charge when our order didn't come as expected. The wood grilled hanger steak was so affordable $36 and AMAZING-I have no comments, it's a must get unless you want to spend more to try other cuts of beef but this was already amazing and solved cravings for me. The grilled pork chops was sadly a bit too tough and chewy and not as much flavor which was disappointing and was able to send it back and replace it for something else which we chose another hanger steak. Our server was nice enough to switch it out and keep our sides. And the sides- the duck fat potatoes: AMAZING and so unique and yummy. The black garlic aioli was perfect dipping sauce. I don't have words to explain this! All of it was so delicious, I have never had a meal like this! We started with the rolls and butter, my mouth is watering just thinking about them. They were soft and slightly salty which paired so well with the honey drizzled butter. Next we got the paella arancini. Unfortunately it was a bit cold in the middle but other the that it was all around DELISHHHHH! For the main I got the pistachio crusted salmon and my partner got the jerk chicken. The salmon was so tender yay it literally fell apart as soon as I touched it with my fork. Rhe jerk chicken really stole the show. We ordered beer because, sorry, $18-23 cocktails are just a bit exorbitant for me. We took a look at the menu and looked for all the delish Apps and Entree's we had heard and read about- no where to be found: where were the lamb lollipops, the noodles, the shrimp- oh well. The Waygu Burger was awesome- best burger I've had in quite some time. Decent place but loud. Brick walls, steel deck ceiling with nothing to absorb sound. The night started off with me and my girlfriend going in without a reservation There's a nice young man there who took our information yet we knew it would be busy so we went back after about 30 minutes The manager was actually there they mentioned that there's two seat seats at the bar so we didn't have to rush when we sat down to eat I have to say I was definitely happy about that let alone the fact that we had two of my favorite bartenders I've had in a while We ordered about five dishes and three different drink drinks. There is very little to find fault with on our recent visit to Seneca. The atmosphere is pleasant, our reserved table was ready, the food was tasty, creative, and well prepared, the service was welcoming and friendly, and the restrooms were clean. So, what were the "little faults" referenced above? The noise level is on the higher side, the tables seem small for the number of patrons seated at them whether that be two or six, and servers shouldn't serve a drink or dish on top of a napkin left on the table while the customer is away from the table. But none of those faults will prevent us from returning. My wife tried their Pretzel Cinnamon Manhattan ($18) - cinnamon infused vermouth, rye, cinnamon and orange bitters, pretzels, and a cinnamon and sugar rim. It was delicious! Had I ordered one it would have been downed in nothing flat. But I chose to have a draft Märzen Oktoberfest ($9) from Chatham Brewing. Nice flavors and crisp. We both eyed something different on the appetizers menu that we wanted to try. She ordered the Coal-roasted Beets ($15) - pistachio butter, black garlic vinaigrette, burrata, fried kale chips, and Chile sea salt. Once again, I could have been happy with this dish also since it tasted so good. Especially the contrasting texture of those fried kale chips. My app choice, however, was the Lamb Meatballs ($16) - ground lamb shoulder, harissa tomato sauce, roasted garlic tzatziki, olive and caper tapenade, and parsley. Truly flavorful with no gaminess, the harissa sauce was especially delicious. Moving on to our entrees, my wife was ready for a glass of Trefethen Chardonnay ($17) which matched perfectly with her Shrimp & Grits ($32). Happily, the kitchen removed the shrimp tails before adding them to the smoked gouda grits, house-smoked bacon, chorizo butter, zucchini and corn chow chow, and fried leeks. Very tasty and magnificent flavors. I thoroughly enjoyed the wood-fired 12oz Pork Chop ($39). The Chef's recommendation was for medium-rare, and I said I'd like whatever was the Chef's willingness to cook as rare as possible. It was served the most beautiful, tender, and juicy pink I've ever received in a restaurant. Along with the sourdough Spätzle, tri-color carrots, and plum wine mustard gravy, my tastebuds were in absolute awe! Both of us chose to take a portion of our entrees home so that we could explore the kitchen's offering of dessert. We decided to share the Sticky Toffee Pudding ($14) along with a large French press coffee ($12). The pudding was another hit with its spiced date cake, caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, and toffee bits. The medium roasted coffee was very good and the perfect ending to our celebratory dinner. We've heard non stop chatter about the Parker house rolls and I have to be honest...the hype is warranted! Alright Foodies, I honestly disappointed my this one. I have been wanting to try this place for a really long time. Maybe I chose the wrong night to get lucky because I definitely didn't! My cousin decided to reserve for us for a Tuesday evening. It was busy for a weeknight for sure. Firstly the place is really nicely decorated. It has a rustic industrial decor and yuppie vibe. I have included some pictures. We had reservations but arrived 30 minutes early. The hostess and hostess in training were super nice and accommodating and sat us anyway. We really appreciated this. So far so good for sure! Unfortunately our waiter was rude and passive aggressive. I ordered the pea and ricotta caramelle appetizer but pronounced it incorrectly. He promptly corrected me and then yammered about sounding pretentious, well he sure did. It made us feel uncomfortable. He also asked if we were ordering additional appetizers, suggesting we also buy the roll appetizer. We said we were trying to cut back on our carbs. We got the impression we were not ordering enough food. The appetizer came and looked really pretty. Unfortunately the pasta packets that resembled little wrapped bon bons were hard. The dish overall needed a good grind of salt and pepper. Oh also it says it come with a mushroom veloute. It does not, it comes with a mushroom puree. There is a very distinct difference, especially to the Classical French Chef. Our server asked us how our appetizer was, I replied that it was alright but the pasta was hard. He asked if we were serious or pulling his leg and looked at our plate, which was still empty because we were hungry, as if our agenda was to ask for free food. He asked us what we were thinking about for entrees. I replied that I would like to try the swordfish dish but I was allergic to hazelnuts. He replied that" I would have a hard time with that dish then." My cousin heard that and asked if I could still have the dish but have the hazelnut sauce removed. He replied "yeah no because then the dish is missing a whole component". Dude have you heard of lemon butter sauce and customer service? Obviously not. I honestly wanted to walk out after that but didn't want to spoil the nice evening we were otherwise having. We both ended up getting the Caribbean jerk chicken dish. Again a major disappointment, the sweet potato mash was bland and stone cold. The menu says that you get a half a chicken, which is 1 breast, thigh and leg. However, you actually only get a leg and thigh. Maybe they don't know what a chicken looks like? The whole dish was sweet element after sweet element. My palette was crying out for a salty element like some cooked greens with ham hock. If you are a fan of Caribbean food, you know what I'm talking about right? We were further encouraged to order dessert but didn't. No more disappointments needed. We paid and left, never to return. read more
