This is the second time I've eaten at Shake Shack and I have come to the realization that maybe I just don't like their burgers very much. I wanted to give Shake Shack another shake (try) because a lot of people swear it's the best burger in town. I got the shake stack with cheese fries. The burger was just ok and this time the fried portobello mushroom cheese wasn't molten lava which made me able to eat the burger. The fries were just ok and I didn't get shake because I was drinking alcohol. The price at the race track was $19 for my two items with a $3 tip made the total damage $22. It was reasonable for race track but pretty expensive if it's outside. Customer service at the counter was good and the wait time for the food was acceptable. Overall, I would just say Shake shack is an ok burger. Definitely not my favorite or top 10 list. read more

If you are at the track and want a burger, this is a perfectly good place to get it. i had the single burger and the Sloppy Track shake, available only at this location; it's a vanilla shake dusted with cocoa and not all that exciting. A sign says "we make our shakes with custard"... WTF, like soft serve stuff? I'm not a big shake fan and this did not change my mind, plus it was on the skimpy side for five bucks plus. As an appealing alternative, they have Brooklyn ale on tap. The burger was also a bit small for the price but you can get two or a double if you are hungry. The best thing definitely is the beef... tasty, juicy, crumbly. If you are a fan of the Five Guys-style "wet" burger you will like this one. While visiting NY from Washington State finally had the opportunity to try the Shake Shack while betting on the ponies at Saratoga. Especially since the lines have died down from when I tried going last year. So here's the breakdown: The GOOD: It was a tasty, flavorful burger. Soft bun, good beef and great compliment of burger innards. The BAD: It was small burger for the price. More like a appetizer size for an entree price. It may have been stacked, but a burger I can hold in one hand and finish in 2, maybe 3 bites AND fries NOT included in the gourmet price, yeah, doesn't scream a regular visit (I think they are opening one here in Seattle). More like a once in a while unlike Dick's or McD's which I can afford regularly. The Ugly: Only the fact I was still hungry despite what I paid. As I mentioned, I think they are opening one here in Seattle so I'm going to have to give it another go, maybe try a frozen custard while I'm at it. Worth the hype? I should say so, yes. These are the best fast food burgers I have ever had, and I've had my share. I I really only went to Saratoga for the double shack burger and it was worth it. Amazingly flavorful beef, seared to perfection with a perfect salty crust. Plenty of melty cheese and a tangy sauce (like russian dressing) all between a fluffy bun that soaks up the delightful drippings. Burger heaven! Maybe next time ill be hungry enough to get a shake with it. read more

I've never had one of the famous SS burgers...but today, I indulged. Got the single shake burger and the "sloppy track" shake. The burger was hot, delicious, saucy, crispy (on the outside) and perfectly cheesy (with a soft, fresh bun to hold it all together). Hey you in the back. I see your heating lamp! - 1 star I ordered the classic Shake burger and it was served up in 3mins. It was only luke warm. -1 star At least there was no wait at this location. No one seems to know it exists inside the Race track. +1 star It lacked the crust on the meat I've heard about because it was drying out under the heating lamp. -1 star There's no tables to eat around at this location, we had to search all over for some tables indoors. -1 star I was not impressed and was on the fence to ever trying another SS again. I have a hard time paying $5 for a hot dog. A plain old hot dog. But these hot dogs are so good I go ahead and shell out the $5 for my bites of weiner bliss. First off, they slice the dog in half and grill it sliced side down. The magic is in the bun. No stale, white buns here. You get the sliced, grilled dog on a fresh potato bun. Ugh! I want one now! The fries are hot, fresh and crispy. I love the fries. Mmm, fries... Plus, the shakes. Otis M. made a couple negative comments about the shakes that I feel the need to hit on. One, they are made with hard custard, not soft serve. Two, the sloppy track is made with salted caramel custard, not vanilla. And it is excellent. I had to limit myself to getting it only when we actually had an off track so I would be able to fit out of the track at the end of the meet. Lastly, yes, they do seem pricey for the size. There are two ways to look at this. Do you really need the gigantic shakes that places serve up? But mostly, as I mentioned before, these shakes are made with custard. Awesome, rich custard. I sometimes have a hard time finishing that "puny" shake, it's so rich. Oh, and the burgers? Um, I don't like burgers. Yeah, I know. Read some other reviews for those. Stopped by here on a visit to track this past weekend. Not a bad wait, only about 10 minutes. Had a Shack Burger and vanilla shake. Both were outstanding. The burger wasn't huge, but the meat tasted absolutely wonderful. The cheese was decent, and this is coming from someone that doesn't usually like American. The bun was great, too. What can I say about my vanilla shake? Just that it hit the spot. Very thick, and it didn't taste "fake", or too sugary. It's definitely worth it if you are at the track. read more

Shake Shack is to East coasters what In-N-Out Burger is to West coasters -- this quasi-legendary burger place that is affordable, enjoyed by all, yet beloved by foodies. Though they both do up consistently gratifying burgers and fries in a fast food manner, the similarities end there. Shake Shack offers a larger variety of items including numerous variations of burgers (as opposed to different "styles" of one), hot dogs, and custard shakes. They also tend to offer regional specials specific to that location. One huge bonus, for me anyway, is that you can purchase wine and beer at Shake Shack made exclusively for it by Frog's Leap and Brooklyn Brewery, respectively. For a first timer I suggest going big with the Shack Stack burger that combines a ShackBurger and 'Shroom Burger, though I am partial to the SmokeBurger. It's unfortunate that I am not such a glutton, as my fantasy would be to order a shake and a beer, but if you go shake, go ShackAttack. My only other suggestion is to be patient. You're going to have to wait. Just know it will all be worth it. read more

Shake Shack is a great dining option at the track. The hot dogs are good and the milkshakes are super creamy and delicious (they use custard instead of traditional ice cream). Overall, its a great option if you're at the track already. Although, I'd say, its not a place I'd go out of the way to go to - like go to the track just for the Shake Shack. There are plenty of other great places in downtown Saratoga to go without the track admission. I love Shack Shack, the East coast equivalent of my beloved In and Out. The Saratoga SS was solid. Line moved quickly, we got our food within minutes. Cheeseburger was delicious, fries were dried out and paled in comparison to their NYC counterparts. The shake we got was also delicious. This is some seriously good grease. Not a healthy burger but very tasty, especially if you like salt. I shared a double Shake burger with my daughter. A lot to handle and two singles would probably have been a better choice but an excellent treat. We also had the Saratoga only Sloppy Track milkshake. Very sweet but no complaints.
