The only reason they get three stars is because they have a great patio. The service is sub-par and they won't make any changes to your order. I wanted to order a veggie wrap, which wasn't on the menu, and they wouldn't do it. Although they have tons of other wraps, they said that they wouldn't make any changes. If I could give less than one star I would. 9 people took over 2 hours to be served. And then repeating the reason that "for a party of this size it takes longer" and it took over an hour and a half. Then they brought out the food 2 plates at a time and left my 93 year old grandfather diabetic without food for a good 10-15 minutes since the first 2 plates were brought. No managers were there and they got a server lead who didn't offer to do anything meaningful with our bill...taking drinks off when the only things were 3 beers and 2 coffees doesn't do much. And when we said we didn't wanna come back, the person who was talking to us just walked away and never came back. We celebrated our son's 29th birthday on the patio of this place. The outdoor space was really nice as it overlooked the lake. The bar staff however was not good. For some reason the bartenders were more interested in talking on their phone, talking to each other or dancing rather than serving our party consistently. It was a fairly chilly night when we were there so the outdoor area was not busy. But they did not serve many people in our party efficiently. We stayed however and enjoyed ourselves despite the bad service. When my husband settled our bill he did not leave a tip. After we left the bartender told my son his dad was a f.....g a.....e. She continued to express how angry she was that my husband didn't leave a tip and also told our daughter in law that he was a ....... I don't believe it is mandatory to leave a bartender a tip especially if she doesn't deserve it. And I think it's quite inappropriate for the bar staff to swear at the other customers about their father. I called the owner the following day and spoke to him about it. He told me that "Tiffany" has worked for him for a long time. I think maybe she needs a new job. I also spoke with the bar manager who was more apologetic. I left my phone number and I never heard back. The bar manager offered to buy us dinner but we will not be going to this establishment again. After reading other yelp reviews it appears the wait staff is consistently rude to their customers. If you want to have a nice view of the lake but don't want to be treated nicely then by all means this is the place for you. We will not be going back though. read more

I really enjoy docks in the summertime. The outdoor patio is huge with great views of Bangs Lake. The food is really good but I think they need to expand their menu. Also they lack on service when you are waiting to be seated. The last time my girlfriend and I went out to dinner 2 weeks ago and waited 15 minutes to be seated with an empty restaurant. Last night on a glorious Thursday summer evening we went to Dock's hoping to eat outside. Arriving at 7ish pm I was told it would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table for two. I waited for my date while enjoying a $3 Corona Light 12 oz draft. My date arrived and as promised in 15 minutes we were offered a table, wanting to sit closer to the rail and the lake, Dock's overlooks Bangs Lake, we waited three more minutes. The host was welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Matt our server was awesome. Quick, knowledgable, and checked in with us at the right times. We enjoyed the half slab rib dinner special. The baby back ribs were meaty tender and fall off the bone and the sauce just perfect. But the hidden gems were the house made garlic mashed potatoes, WOW, yumtastic and so much better than a baker. The veggie mix was cooked perfect with a little bit of crunch left and plenty of flavor. All for $14.95. There was plenty of food. The crowd was lively, adult, with some young families mixed in, and appropriately energetic but being on the deck it was perfect. Almost had the vibe of a picnic or someone's backyard dinner party. Everything on the menu was unreasonably expensive. The food was good but not that good to pay so much. The service was not that great. We needed to wait and wait for our server to refill our glasses, take our orders, etc. I think she came once to check on our group (after we got our food) even though the restaurant was not packed. Interestingly enough, they include 20% gratitude automatically which I find funny. Some people would not check it and add additional 20%. No, I am not coming back. My band ELIMINATOR played at Docks last night. All i can say is AWESOME!!!!!! Everyone from the moment we arrived from the parking staff, to the bar staff, management, food staff, to the patrons, was GREAT!! Fabulous views of beautiful Bangs Lake out on the TIKI deck. Delicious food ( the towering spike of huge hot onion rings were killer). Generous drinks, reasonable prices. Had lots of our friends and fans dancing and enjoying all that Docks had to offer. Docks is now one of our newest favorite places and we encourage anyone to check them out. THANKS DOCKS, for a great holiday evening , ELIMINATOR will be looking forward to coming back next summer, but in the mean time, I will be bringing my family back for some of that great food excellent drinks & top notch service. read more

What a great date night location! We arrived, and were offered our choice of where to sit. Cocktail waitress was prompt and very friendly, all night long. My date and I had the AUCE fishfry, lightly breaded talipia and the usual sides. She ordered wine and I ordered Corona Lights in a bottle. I had an ok experience here, I wouldnt necessarily run back but it was ok. The view of Bangs Lake is gorgeous. We went for an early Friday dinner. Two people at my table got burgers and they looked really good and I was told they were good. I got nachos with ground beef - they were ok except they used the cheap nacho cheese you get from a concession stand in addition to a little shredded cheese. Seriously?!?! Just give me all shredded cheese - I paid like $12 and you give me that stuff. Not cool. The flavor of the meat on the nachos were good except for the cheese. The other food that was brought out of the kitchen during our stay looked pretty good. Their desserts looked decadent but we didn't have any. The major problem with Dock's is their prices, they are WAY too expensive. We had three people at our table, purchased no drinks, two burgers and nachos and the bill was almost $40. This is crazy. The cost of a pop is $2.99 - I can get a pop in the city for cheaper. The dessert that looked awesome was $10. While I would want to try the food at Docks again I probably would not because of the prices, I don't want to spend $20 on a meal that I may or may not like. read more

The only reason for two stars is because of the location/view. Without that, Dock's would get only one star. My boyfriend and I aren't super-fussy people and we certainly weren't expecting a fine-dining experience. BUT - being seated at a dirty table and slow, indifferent service doesn't cut it at a casual restaurant either! It took a long time to get our food for a party of four (2 beef burgers, a chicken sandwich, and a GF bison burger). We were with another couple, one of whom explained (very specifically) a food restriction with our waitress. This shouldn't have been too big of a challenge since they do offer gluten-free selections on their menu. Lo and behold - our food finally comes, and his burger isn't served in the gluten-free way. So - his order goes back to the kitchen. We are all waiting to eat so as not to be rude to him - he's urging us to go ahead and eat. We had to ask for silverware and napkins - duh. Isn't that sort of a basic requirement when people order food? We were there on Saturday this past Labor Day weekend, around 5 o'clock and it wasn't terribly busy - the outdoor patio was less than half-full and the bar area wasn't crowded. There is really no reason I can think of for the poor service except that they just couldn't care less - I guess if they make money anyway they can afford to lose customers. Well, mission accomplished! My burger was NOT cooked the way I ordered it - "medium" does not mean raw at the center - but I didn't send it back - I just wanted to get out of Dodge and salvage the rest of my evening. There are plenty of other places that do bar food well and treat customers politely - and that's where I'll be taking my future business. I can live without a view of Bangs Lake. read more

I am writing this review with a very mixed customer experience. My nephew and I planned a surprise 60th birthday party for my brother at the Dock restaurant located in Wauconda, December 2015. After several conversations with Lisa, the private room coordinator, I was convinced that holding the party in a private room was the way to go. I was impressed with the Room; it was very clean and nicely decorated. From there it went downhill... No Server representation on the floor, no water on the tables, no rolls/butter, we also ran out of salad dressing and a young man from the back provided us more. We booked the party for 25 people, only 18 could make it, when we ran out of the beef dish, I ask for more and we were charged an additional $75.00!!! At $700.00 for an afternoon meal which included a gratuity charge for no representation, it was very disappointing; the value was just not there. The bartender was only happy if you were buying drinks, and with 2 drinks at $17.00 who wouldn't be! I did contact Lisa the private room coordinator the following day and she apologized profusely. Extending an invitation to buy us cocktails the next time we were in town, a 20% discount on my next party and a gift card of $100.00 for all of my inconvenience. It is now February of 2016 and I still have not received a thing, not even an apology note. I did receive a text on 1/20/16 asking for my address again? I met a friend at Docks this weekend. I was apprehensive about going in the first place, I've been dining out since Covid but I hadn't yet been to a bar (even though it was outdoors). I pulled in the lot and saw they had complimentary valet. Neither of the attendants were wearing a mask but against my better judgement I let them park my car. When I walked onto the deck, I was absolutely horrified at the lack of social distancing. My friend was seated at the bar and I told him we needed to get a table. I understand you can't wear a mask while drinking or eating but people were literally sitting on top of each other and i was so uncomfortable. I understand it's a bar but there was not even an attempt made to social distance. The bartenders and servers all had masks on that I saw. When it came time to leave, I gave the valet guy my ticket, asked him for my keys and where my car was parked. I won't be back for a while. I know everyone is at a different comfort level but for myself this was just too much. The food was delicious as always though. Hope to see you guys next summer. read more

Please DO NOT let the valet service step foot in your vehicle. They parked my Toyota 4runner on Saturday evening, 6/2/2018 at Docks in Wauconda and when I got my vehicle back, everything was askew - the garbage was tipped over, and CDs even fell OUT of their cubby on the dashboard and were OPEN on the floor. It would take a lot of abusive driving to to do that with a SUV of all vehicles. When I complained to Docks, they said "not my problem, call "A-valet". When I complained to the owner of "A-valet", Anthony, he defended the drivers and said "it was really crazy last night". I hope they did not damage my engine. I am beyond disgusted. read more
