A townie bar in the middle of Nowhere, Mundelein. It seems as though this bar is actually located in a residential area. The parking here is atrocious. you have to try and maneuver through the tiny parking lot where people have invented parking spot making it a very narrow passageway... at times I held my breath as we tried to squeeze between two randomly parked cars. Eventually, a spot in front opened up and we went in. The bar is a dive to say the least, but it was packed. There was nowhere to sit and barely anywhere to even stand. People kept running into us. However, the cheap drinks and live music made up for this. I just wish the place was kept a little warming, the front and side doors kept opening so smokers could get their nicotine fix. Everyone here was super friendly though, so I could see myself returning in the future. I really like how the outside actually looks like a mill... shh...don't tell, but that is the main reason I decided to check Irish Mill out!

Atmosphere: Divey and a little questionable Food: 2/5 Service: 1/5 We came here on Friday night because it was halfway for my friend and I. I don't know what it is about midwest but everyone seems to love their fish fry on a Friday. I thought it was interesting that a place that raves about their fish fry doesn't have too many reviews but we still went anyways. The moment we drove up, I was questioning where we were. The building is shaped like a giant windmill with green trimmings and it just got weirder once we stepped in. There's slot machines, dart boards, a hog head and some religious statue in a corner. There's not much seating around so we decided to sit at the bar. The guy at the bar didn't seem too thrilled with us but we went ahead and ordered drinks anyways. I'm not saying I'm a beer snob but I don't think it's a good sign when the beer is all foam when they pour. I know I talked about the fish fry but I couldn't get myself to order a pound of it so I ordered the chicken tenders. Chicken tenders is always a safe option at a restaurant and I can't say that it was bad or good but I can say the fries were cold. My friends ordered the fish fry and it came out in the shape of a whole fish. They said it wasn't the best they've had but it wasn't bad either. Overall: the service was lousy. Maybe I'm just used to less dive-y service but man they did not seem to want us there. When we told the bartender we wanted to order and he took a bite of food before doing so. Even though the prices were cheap, I'd rather save my money and go elsewhere.

    Friday Fish Fry Heaven...

Dear Fellow Fish Fry Fanatics, We all know that there are way too many mediocre Friday Night fish frys in the world, and we are more than aware that some restaurants that serve outstanding fish 'n chips during the week compromise their Friday Night Fish Fry with inferior product (note the Abbey Pub as example). We Fry Brothers know how frustrating this can be! We're tired of driving to western Wisconsin to get our fix; tired of driving to Holland, Michigan to the Beachwood Inn or to Grand Rapids to Fat Man's Fish Fry. Brothers, your prayers are answered! The Irish Mill's fish fry consists of a bountiful serving of lightly beer-battered Icelandic cod that will tantalize the taste buds of the utmost scrutinizing fry brother. And, it's only $7. Caaaan yoooou dig it???!???! Located in Mundelein on Hwy 83 between 60 and 176, it is worth the drive. The Mill looks like a typical roadside bar, except it has a windmill.

Typical dive bar with live music and cheap drinks. Just what I needed as an out of Towner, felt very welcome by the locals and staff

The place is dated. Small and smells like a septic tank in parts of the bar. Signs outside need work.

The fish fry was excellent - I would highly suggest getting the onion rings as a side instead of the fries.

As well as the amazing beers on tap. No matter what time I come here while it is usually during off hours, they are so friendly and hospitable and very quick on the service so absolutely no complaints This is truly a great neighborhood jam, and very lucky that it is in the downtown area as well. There is parking that is free. Just be sure to be on the lookout. I wish I was never so full from the entrées and appetizers that I could actually get to Dear one of these days so maybe that will be a future review.

Instead of the standard fries, we opted for the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Both were surprisingly delicious and well-prepared. As for the fish itself? Absolutely wonderful. It was perfectly flaky with a thin, crispy batter, adding just a little salt and pepper makes it perfect. We also tried the traditional Irish breakfast. Everything on the plate was very good. The boxty (fried potatoes) was a little oily for my personal taste, but the flavor was still very good. What really impressed us, was the service. It was truly exceptional. The vibe of the pub is incredibly friendly and peaceful, topped off with traditional pipe music playing in the background. I'll definitely be back again! Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Irish atmosphere.

Wow. I've been here multiple times, and not once have I had a good experience…read more I came here with my family for drinks and ended up having the same bartender who has caused issues in the past. First, he struggled to take five drink orders and brought out the wrong drinks. The bar wasn't even busy, yet we waited more than 20 minutes for them to arrive. When they finally did, the drinks tasted watered down. I politely mentioned this to him, and his response was, "You're f-ing with me." I told him I would rather switch to beer because I didn't want to continue drinking poorly made cocktails. He then replied, "Don't be surprised if the bucket of beers you order comes to you half empty." His behavior was incredibly rude and unprofessional, and he constantly complained about everything throughout our visit. Getting the check was an absolute nightmare. Somehow, he deleted our bill and couldn't find it. When he finally brought us a check, the total seemed way too high. It turned out he had charged us for another party's bill. When we asked for an itemized receipt, he acted annoyed and complained about the request. The issue was eventually resolved, but we were told they couldn't cancel the transaction, so the other party had to reimburse us in cash for the amount we were incorrectly charged to our bill. We asked to speak with a manager, only to find out there wasn't one on-site on a Friday night. Instead, we were given a handwritten name and phone number. As I said, I've never had a good experience here. Some members of the staff were helpful and understanding, but this particular bartender has been a recurring problem. I don't know if he was intoxicated, under the influence, or simply having a bad day, but the level of incompetence and unprofessionalism was unbelievable. This place feels like an absolute circus.
