So we went to have late lunch early dinner at about 3 on a Sunday. The place was not too busy. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were told they were having issues with the grill. So this eliminated any burgers or grill chicken. But we opted to stay. The we all ordered different stuff. One bang bang chicken sandwich, one bang bang fried shrimp a BLT avocado and boneless wings. So as for me the food was good. My chicken was very tasty the bang bang sauce was a lil spicy but very tasty. The bang bang shrimp was tasty the other folks liked their food. I must've misunderstood the website. Thought I would try this for breakfast on an early Sunday morning. When I got there it was mostly empty. One person at the bar and one playing slots (7:30 in the morning) and no one seemed to be working the front area so I left. Has a good location by the lake, which is the best thing about this bar. Uncle D's is one of the local hangouts in Wauconda. It doesn't look like much, because it isn't but it's okay for the area. Mostly a place to knock some back and play some games. food is mostly fried and greasy bar stuff but there's some better options. Certainly it looks kind of sketchy but it's not that bad. It's actually a pretty okay sports bar with plenty of TVs for watching games. There's also games to play such as darts and a few slots. Has a pretty good happy hour. There's $3 wells. As for the food, better than expected. It's not all greasy fried stuff. Best healthy option is the Black Bean Burger. It's $12 and comes with a side. Big patty and it's filling. Sloppy Joe decent. Upcharge for Cole slaw instead of fries. Cole slaw was meh. No problem but should have been informed about the sub up charge. Now for the chopped salad. Lettuce, egg, green pepper, red onion & avocado were good. But the rest of it-tomato, bacon, onion were so tiny nearly microscopic. No way a fork can gather. A spoon would have worked. So the "to go" box had all of the flavor sitting on the bottom. Please chop the "guts" a little bigger. Not an enjoyable experience for the salad entree. Once turned upside down for the "to go" container-looked good. Still needed a spoon. Don't cut too veg that needs a spoon in a chopped salad. read more

Uncle D's offers great service any time of day-I wish I could remember the names of all the great servers I've had there to give them a shout out! My favorite is the Southwest Salad, which includes a very fresh mix of greens, corn, black beans, diced tomatoes, shedded cheese, sliced avocado, and is topped off by in-house made tortilla strips. The salad dressings are all house-made with my favorites being the cilantro-lime vinaigrette and ranch. Even the side salads are better than most area restaurants! My Dad has tried most of the sandwiches and burgers and loves them (and he's picky!). A few of his favorites are the Sloppy Joe and the Italian Beef. I wasn't really sure what to expect when coming here, but I love this place. We came at an off hour, so we were able to chat with the people working a little more and everyone was so nice - it literally felt like we had been coming here for years. The menu is pretty bar-typical food, but I would say it's definitely better than that. We got a sandwich and burger - both were pretty good and the prices were decent for the amount you get. It looks like during the week they have a bunch of different specials and rotating food items. Well, been passing by this place forever and this time we decided to stop in. Very sparse parking so we asked where to park and immediately the female bartender came outside and pointed to a few locations. She must have been an owner because it is rare and doubtful an employee would be so accommodating. Moving on..... We were seated, by the very nice and conscientious female bartender. She asked for our drink order and gave us menus........ So far so good......The food..... Corn Beef and Cabbage Dinner-Outstanding Monster Burger-Incredible Ruben-Great Patty Melt- Delicious Absolutely excellent all around. Not a single negative comment from anyone in our party. Oh, yeah! There was a gentleman talking to some people at the bar and was showing the coolest DUCK model to his friends. Said his buddy made them and was selling them for $5. My buddy immediately jumped up and bought it and asked for another one. Well the gentleman left the bar. Damn... no duck for me....... Hold on...... He returned with another duck in hand. I snapped it up and thanked him. That doesn't happen nowadays. How cool is that. The entire experience of that bar/grille was that of a typical Chicago old neighborhood tavern. Great people. Sunday morning breakfast at 10:30, and they seemed surprised that people were coming in to eat. The food took a long time to be served. My entree was delivered first, and it wasn't very hot. This was probably my sixth visit. I always get the wings (breaded) with the chipotle honey sauce. They have always been outstanding regardless of eat in or carry out. Sadly, today missed the mark big time. Did a carryout of my usual order and it was wrong (bad on me for not checking before leaving). Wings were not breaded, on the smaller side and absolutely overcooked. Didn't notice until home and too far to drive back. Really hope it was just an off day in the kitchen read more

Ordered food to go. Wish I had a chance to sit down and eat. Will do that next time. The server/bartender Kayla was extremely sweet and the food wasn't too bad. Great American style food and Mexican dishes too! Nice u-shaped bar and outdoor patio with plenty of televisions to watch sporting events.

Great atmosphere, quick service, and the food was top-notch! I will definitely be coming back time and time again.

This was really slow service and the crowd was drunk loud and sketchy this place looks like a former hot dog stand turned bar and it is very small and few televisions and you are right up on the next person this is not a place I would want to be around during the pandemic read more

Lindys, Docks, Middletons, Slyce are the big almost touristy spots in Wauconda, then you got Uncle D's new restaurant on 176 that could be easily passed as a place the changes names and owners every few years. And it may but I hope not. Tired of the usually go too's in Wauconda, the wife and I decided to give Uncle D's a shot. And I'm glad we did because we will be back. I'll put it out there BEST WINGS in Wauconda, naked chicken wings with hot sauce. This is what I expect from a chicken wing, no ridiculous breading (can go to jewel for that) nice crisp not super injected with hormone turned into turkey leg chicken wing. Will be back for them. Onion rings is my wife's domain. Very particular about too much breading, the size of the onion inside, and the flavor. She loved them and said these are hard to find. Now 2 options for burgers 1/3 lb and 1/2 lb both just as delicious and they don't skimp on the bacon. Again really tasty and would come back. The atmosphere may not scream of Lindys or Docks on the water with picturesque views, in fact the views are of of the busy street or hopefully someone winning at the slots. But this is my kind of local spot. Smaller place, locals, good food, great service (Michelle was better than 5 star restaurants), and clean. We will be back for sure! read more

Been here any number of times and found that looks can be very deceiving. It looks like a "townie" bar but the clientele is very friendly and the service is top shelf. The food has always been outstanding. We've had various tacos, burgers and breakfast and though hardly of the gourmet variety, it's easy to screw them up. Our food has always been hot and very tasty. Uncle D's gets my vote for sure...and the prices are quite reasonable. read more
