We stopped at Dockside Dan's on our way home from a bike ride through the Michigan countryside. Some of us are vegan so it was hard to find something to eat. We ended up with the fried pickles and French fries which of course were plentiful basket fills and cheap as heck. Our pescatarian had the fish tacos with fries and really enjoyed them. We sat on the patio overlooking Round Lake and had a nice break from our ride. The hostess and waitress were really nice and the owner,Dan?, came over and asked us how everything was. We were visiting the area and looking for a quick bite to eat. This place is right on the water with a great patio. I had the smoked wings which were being prepared on a grill right near the patio. They were fantastic and came with a cilantro ranch for dipping. My boy friend had the lobster salad with thousand island which he loved. The service was fast and friendly. Very nice and accommodating people, chef Jose and owner Dan both came out to greet us. It's a great addition to the area! We like that they have only a few menu items so they can perfect them rather than try to make a ton of stuff. I might have had too high of expectations for the food, I found it to be good, not great. We tried almost everything on the menu, the most memorable thing was the fries, very good steak fries. Everything else was just alright, portions are big! Fish tacos were spicy and you get 3 full tacos in the order. The chicken sandwich was also a very large portion. Adult grilled cheese was smaller. Fried pickles tasted fresh and had more pickle than breading which is a good thing. I plan to come back next year when I visit the area and am looking forward to more exciting things to come! read more

I used to go to Legacy Lounge years ago and was sad to see it close. After a lot of brightening up I am happy to see it reborn as Dockside Dan's. They are consistently adding to their menu and have great bar good and friendly service. The prices are very reasonable as well! read more

Really decent lakeside bar, with great location, good food and very friendly service -- Angie was great! We're locals and know most of the good spots around the area although we don't get out to Sister Lakes often and haven't been here before, but this was a very good burger (the blue cheese version with grilled onions) and the grouper basket was very good too. Very good food wife had fish tacos , zero complaints they were very good , My burger was good everything on it bun held up meat was juicy , had wings as appetizer also very good 6 wings 7$ maybe ad one more to the basket, limited options burger ,fish tacos , club sandwich ,saliads , chicken strips , be nice to have a few more choices , but maybe it's a bar first resturant second. Went for dinner and sat outside with a beautiful view. Not too many places to go and sit outside on a lake. We had a steak sandwich and pesto chicken sandwich. Both good but chicken needed more pesto. Will definitely return to sit outside. read more

The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was very good. The owner and staff were very friendly. The 16 oz sand shark beers were on special for $3.00 which isn't bad at all. The only reason this place gets 3 stars is that the food is pretty average. It's decent, but it's average. The menu is limited which isn't always a bad thing because it usually means homemade fresh food but that wasn't the case here. For instance, three of us ordered the burgers and they were frozen patties cooked on the griddle. Now don't get me wrong, they tasted decent, but they could just be so much better if they would make them fresh themselves. With such a small menu, there's really no reason not to. The fries I have to say were excellent so nothing to change there. Onion rings were beer battered and very good. The shrimp appetizer was $9.95 and although it tasted decent it was underwhelming because it was small popcorn shrimp and tasted like I was eating nothing but breading in what was a decent sauce. Again, just jack up the price to say $14.95 and use some real medium sized shrimp. The dish will go over much better and nobody will care about the extra $5 because it will be quality. This place has real nice potential, they just have to improve some of the food a bit. This is a pretty new place so one has to give them some time to work out the little kinks. It was good enough that I'll be back to try it again. read more

I had a relatively large party for dinner and Dan and Jose were so accommodating that they prepared ribs for the occasion! They were fall-off-the-bone delicious. We stopped by Dockside Dan's on our way home from a short weekend in Michigan. My boyfriend was very excited to stop there since he'd read the view was very nice. The restaurant opened at noon and we got there a couple minutes early so we waited in the car until the time read exactly 12 noon on our phones. When we went in, the lady at the bar immediately told us they didn't open until noon and she still had some time left before noon. Although we were both confused by the statement since it was already noon, my boyfriend just politely asked if we could just wait inside until noon. She said she guessed we could wait and for us to just find a table. So we found a table with a nice view and waited a couple mins before the waitress came to greet us; she was very nice. Not long after we got there, another family came in and asked when they opened and the lady at the bar stated very loudly that they opened at noon and not a minute sooner...which I took as an obvious dig at us. I would have been fine with gtfo at that moment because there are plenty of places to go eat and I'd rather spend my money where we're wanted. However, I didn't say anything as I didn't want to make my boyfriend feel bad since he spent a lot of time planning our weekend and wanted to make sure I was enjoying myself. So we ordered our food and it took an EXTREMELY LONG TIME to get it. We were there close to two hours for our two appetizers and our burger and fish. And when we did receive it, it wasn't that good. Really basic bar food that definitely wasn't worth the price or the attitude coming from the bar lady. The rest of the staff was very friendly and Dan himself came out to greet some of the guests. The view was nice and that's really about it. We won't be returning. read more

What's not to love about a place on the lake that has cheap drinks and excellent food! Their food menu is a bit limited, but what they do make, they do really well. The hamburger is particularly tasty as are the fish tacos. Their outside seating area on the water is nice when the weather cooperates. They also have a few craft beers on tap. read more

We are visiting from Oregon and came out to try Dockside Dan's - and I am so glad we did!!! My husband and I love to try new restaurants, and we tend to be pretty picky, especially about our burgers and wings. Dockside Dan's exceeded our expectations on all counts - great service, fabulous food, and delicious drinks. We had a party of six initially, which quickly grew to eight, and our waitress was very prompt about asking the new additions what they wanted to drink. We started with drinks and appetizers. Fried pickles with ranch is one of my favorite appetizers, and these quickly disappeared so we ordered their chicken wings. They came out perfectly crispy, with three dipping sauces - honey mustard, bourbon BBQ, and chipotle. We received our entrees soon after - the table got fish tacos, burgers, and chicken fingers. Everything was piping hot and it all arrived at the same time - not an easy feat when you have eight people! The fish tacos are made with grouper and have a tasty aioli with the perfect amount of spice. The burgers were some of the best I've ever had - I love it when places use a Brioche bun because then it holds together and doesn't get soggy. Oh, and the beer-battered fries were finger-licking good too. We sat on the deck and really enjoyed the beautiful lake view. I wish we didn't live across the country, because we would be regulars if we were around here!! read more

We happened to stop in for lunch on the way home from our annual girl's getaway. Great burgers and the pulled pork was outstanding! The Grown Up Grilled Cheese needs another slice (or two) of cheese. It also happened to be Sunday, Bloody Mary Sunday, and those were very tasty! Excellent service and a perfect view of the lake, we sat on the dock and dipped our toes in the water one last time before heading home. read more
