This dump is now permanently closed after an eviction on September 5th by the Lake county sheriff. I had been told how wonderful this place was and went there in August and the experience was absolutely terrible. I asked for a jumbo dog and 5 minutes later was told that they didn't have jumbo dogs anymore. The kid working inside had no clue as to how to run a fast food ordering place. We waited 20 minutes and got lukewarm hot dogs and I told my friend at that point, "never again." And 3 weeks later, the place was boarded up. Good riddance to bad garbage read more

A really nice local grill with takeout food, no indoor seating. There are a few outdoor seats overlooking Waukegan harbor. The service was good, and the brat and hot dog were enjoyable. The view and relaxing atmosphere were its strong points. read more

Rustic - esq hot dog/hamburger/bratwurst stand located on the Waukegan harbor. Within walking distance of the boat launch, large pier (w/ lighthouse) and marina. The hot dogs are about $3 each and you get to add all of the fixings to it yourself. There is only outdoor seating. Great for food and/or a refreshment on a hot, sunny day. read more

What a wonderful spot nestled right next to the Waukegan Harbor. There's plenty of outdoor seating and the views of the harbor are really nice but that's where the good stuff ends. You place your order and pay at one outdoor window and pick it up at another window a few feet away. There is a cart with all the hotdog fixin's in containers...so you pay three bucks for a hotdog and have to dress it up yourself which means unwrapping your couple of dogs or burgers and dressing them up (when the people in front of you are done of course) and then rewrapping them and going to sit down or taking them to a picnic table across the street. Not for me! I had the "famous" Italian beef and it was the kind of that reminded me of the plastic container variety you buy in the grocery store and warm up on your stove. I'm sure it really good for all the boat people looking for a quick fix. Great location, great views, limited parking, use only in an emergency if you must. I would go back just for the views and a snack or a small but good sub at the sub joint across the street at Dockside Deli. read more

I was so excited to learn they have Beyond Burgers. Finally something for a vegetarian. First It took the worker well over 5 minutes to figure out how to charge me. She had to call the owner and another person. I felt terrible. there was a line behind me and said I'd go elsewhere but the people behind me insisted on waiting for me. Then it took about 20 minutes to get my Beyond Burger. I know places are short staffed so I didn't complain. It was barely lukewarm when I got it which means it sat and waited for me while I was waiting for it. By the time I put my condiments on and sat down it was cold. The burger was decent. I participated in the Chicago - Waukegan - Chicago regatta and by the time I was ready to eat, the grill at the Waukegan Yacht Club was closed. My Yelp app told me the nearest eatery was Dockside Dogs, and I was pretty excited as I hadn't had a good dog this summer yet. After taking the short walk I found the lil shack that is Dockside Dogs. This flared my excitement even more, but as I waited in line my excitement subsided. I realized they weren't actually cooking the food to order. So I opted not to get a dog. I got a cheesburger (which was reheated in the microwave) and a Frito Pie. I was explained that a Frito Pie was a bag of Fritos with chili and nacho cheese. That sounded pretty yummy to me; and it sure was. That alone made the trip, but again, I was extremely let down. read more

My fiancé absolutely loves coming here when we come out to the lake. They have hot dogs and bratwurst (even a jalapeño bratwurst), which is spicy from what I hear. All the toppings they have on the deck for you to enjoy. I do love their nachos, but being a vegetarian that's really the only thing I can eat from here. There is a deli across the way and an ice cream shop next door, which is nice to enjoy on a warm summer day. Service is always quick and the staff is always friendly. Not to be confused with one of the other various delicious Dockside locations, Dockside Dogs is the hot dog hotspot of the lakeshore. I like to come here with sister on her lunch break and dish about boys while attempting not to sunburn my insanely white body. I love to get the brat/chips/pop combo for $5. It's delicious and you can add your own toppings, which for me, loosely translates into stuff as many pickles onto and around your brat without getting stared at viciously by other patrons. This place does a great business with lawyers, beachgoers, and pickle lovers alike, plus it shares a deck with Dockside Ice Cream in case you need a frosty dessert. read more

It has a lake-side location and they do grill their own burgers (quality questionable) and the dogs are good but really all they are doing is making food you could buy at the local Jewel for half the price. The location is nice along the Waukegan harbor in a dead-end street, beware the seagulls so dont leave your meal alone for more than a second or it will be gone. Best little hotdog stand ever. I read the reviews and was nervous to come but they were mixed reviews. I meet a friend and we shared there famous Italian beef with the works and a double cheese, Chips and a drink. No fries. But I am glad I came it was delicious definitely will go back next time to try the brat every one loves it. I didn't have inof room or else I would have had one.
