A really nice local grill with takeout food, no indoor seating. There are a few outdoor seats overlooking Waukegan harbor. The service was good, and the brat and hot dog were enjoyable. The view and relaxing atmosphere were its strong points.

Rustic - esq hot dog/hamburger/bratwurst stand located on the Waukegan harbor. Within walking distance of the boat launch, large pier (w/ lighthouse) and marina. The hot dogs are about $3 each and you get to add all of the fixings to it yourself. There is only outdoor seating. Great for food and/or a refreshment on a hot, sunny day.

Truly a dockside adventure on Lake Michigan. I truly enjoyed my wisconson brat sitting outside watching the boats come in. The one window service is quick and helpful. CASH ONLY but the prices are really low so not a worry. I would definitely take this adventure again.

What a wonderful spot nestled right next to the Waukegan Harbor. There's plenty of outdoor seating and the views of the harbor are really nice but that's where the good stuff ends. You place your order and pay at one outdoor window and pick it up at another window a few feet away. There is a cart with all the hotdog fixin's in containers...so you pay three bucks for a hotdog and have to dress it up yourself which means unwrapping your couple of dogs or burgers and dressing them up (when the people in front of you are done of course) and then rewrapping them and going to sit down or taking them to a picnic table across the street. Not for me! I had the "famous" Italian beef and it was the kind of that reminded me of the plastic container variety you buy in the grocery store and warm up on your stove. I'm sure it really good for all the boat people looking for a quick fix. Great location, great views, limited parking, use only in an emergency if you must. I would go back just for the views and a snack or a small but good sub at the sub joint across the street at Dockside Deli.

Dockside Dogs, How dare you discriminate against a man in a wheelchair that is a paying customer at your establishment! My father was at the beach, came to your restaurant to have we he still says was a delicious meal, and you told him to get off your steps because you thought he was a vagrant and not a paying customer! He needed to clean the sand out of his wheelchair wheels and you told him to use the ramp he didn't even know was their due to improper signage and to get out! You should be ashamed Dockside Dogs! Google my name, you'll find my phone number If you want to contact me because this will not be the last review I write about your business!

After tasting Italian beef at a lot of different places in Chicago, famous for them, I like this place the best.

Max's Dawg House is hands down one of the best spots around for classic Chicago-style eats. I've…read moretried everything on the menu--and I truly mean everything--and every single item has been delicious. You can tell they care about quality and flavor in every bite. Most recently, I had the Chicago Dawg, and it was perfect. The snap of the Vienna beef hot dog, the fresh poppy seed bun, and all the traditional toppings (yes, even the neon green relish!) hit all the right notes. It's exactly what a Chicago Dawg should be--no shortcuts, just authentic, satisfying flavor. Whether you're craving a burger, Italian beef, or one of their specialty dawgs, you really can't go wrong here. Fast service, friendly staff, and consistently great food. Max's has easily become a go-to spot for me.

Tasty Enough, But Could Use a Little TLC…read more We stopped into Max's Dawg House in Red Top Plaza for a quick bite and tried the cheeseburgers, fries, and an order of breaded mushrooms. The food was solid--nothing spectacular, but definitely satisfying. The fries appeared to be fresh-cut, the burgers hit the spot, and the mushrooms had a nice crunch. No complaints on flavor--just nothing that knocked our socks off either. The one area that could really use some attention is the cleanliness and general appearance of the place. It's not terrible, but it's a little rough around the edges. One of the baseboards was missing, and there were a few mystery splashes on the wall that gave off strong "we'll get to it eventually" energy. It doesn't ruin the meal, but it does take away from the overall experience. It feels like a neighborhood spot with potential, and with just a little more attention to upkeep, it could easily bump up to 4 stars.

I got an italian beef dipped no pepps with mozz; beef quality not good but they pack it in there so you're full by the end. The dip was interesting, I'm used to Portillos where it's a bit soggy but this was not at all, kind of nice it doesn't get everywhere but still some flavor, but maybe not enough. There's a huge amount of fries for the order that are crinkle cut and well done. And you fill the drink yourself (so free refills) but there's no lid on the styrofoam cups. Whole thing cost me $16.33; nice place, can't say I recommend this order.

We ordered a double cheeseburger meal ($11.99) with perfectly prepared Krinkle cut fries and a Gyro meal ($12.49) with those same perfect Krinkle cut fries. These meals came with drinks and we ordered mozzarella sticks as an added side (4.99). The cheeseburger is pretty ok and the gyro was really tasty. Service is friendly and quick. The dining room is not big but has a combination of tables, booths and counter seating and there is also outdoor seating. The restaurant appears to be clean and in good repair. I want to return to try some of the other menu items.
