Once I brought my boat over to the marina I usually dealt with Vinny who is one of the nicest young man that I have met in a long time. Vinny goes above and beyond to make sure all the customers are happy and getting whatever they need to have a great day on the water. This is a very nice place to keep your boat as they care about all their customers.

We hired Lukens Marine to shrink wrap our patio furniture last Fall. My son also had them shrink…read morewrap his furniture. My son had a seam open up on his wrapped furniture and called Mike at Lukens. Mike told him he was out of town for a family wedding but would come by the following week to address the issue. He never came to resolve the issue. Today I opened up our patio furniture and there was easily 3" of water pooled on the bottom of the shrink wrap packaging and there were decayed leaves in the shrink wrapping as well. Clearly the shrink wrap wasn't properly sealed at the time it was applied. There was rusty water running out of the legs of the patio table and bench. My deck has visible signs of rust stains from where the water accumulated and came in contact with the furniture frames. Covering the pieces with furniture covers in prior years wasn't a good solution. The covers would blow off and water would penetrate. I expected a more professional outcome by choosing to shrink wrap the pieces. Clearly that was not the outcome we received. I won't use or recommend Lukens Marine Services for shrink wrapping in the future.

We went on a very impromptu paddleboarding run on a Saturday. Everyone at the shop was extremely…read morehelpful, a little bit of language barrier and snafu here and there, but they were the most pleasant and gave us recommendations based on our time frame and experience level. They sell some incidentals at the shop, but didn't try to upsell. We were instructed to pick up the life jacket, but they brought the paddleboard over to the dock across the street. There was no demonstration, but it was easy enough to figure out that I started backwards on my board and the family was nice enough not to say anything about it (lol). We did a very short ride, an hour out in the water. The paddleboard and the paddle seemed well-maintained (not that I am an expert). The course they suggested was perfect as it gave us some time in the water. Because it was the height of the day, it was not very crowded out in the water, though I could see larger groups starting their rides by the time we came back to shore. It was a surprisingly pleasant experienced and I love that it's a family business. I would visit the Peconic Paddler again.

They helped us decide what would work best for our group. They gave us all life preservers and had us in the water and going within 5 min of arrival. Easy Peezy. You can go as long as you want or just do a quick float about. We did about a 2 mile trip, (took about 3 hours)we arrived at a small waterfall and the kids got to get out and play about a little. They loved it, don't forget your water shoes and your bathing suit. You cant really swim but you will get somewhat wet. Pack a lunch or go to the end where there is a spot to get out and grab and taco or some ice cream. Maybe both. The trip back went a little faster as you are going back with the current. If you are always wondering what to do with the kids ( of any age ) I highly recommend you try this place.

I saw a social media posting for a guided tour of the Connetquot charging a small fee for dropping in your own vessel. They run this tour weekend days. Until November. There was a group of about 17, some with their own kayaks or SUPs, others rented from the business. Rob provided great direction, was informative , and a genial host. Lisa and I probably had time during the 2 hours to have small conversations with everyone in the group. The canals and river were so easy to navigate, scenic, tranquil, even with some light powerboat traffic. Not an abundance of wildlife but we had a great close encounter with a great blue heron. We are probably comfortable doing this without guidance now, but might choose to join up again for the group experience! Check it out while the weather is fine and the waters are warm! P.S. - I fell out of the boat before we even launched. Looked the fool in front of all but that just started the day off with laughter.
