Shangri-La is one of the nicest country clubs I have ever had the pleasure to attend...The Summit is one of the finest restaurants I've ever had the privilege to experience. Listen up Shangri-La management about Doc's....we haven't been there in over a year...and if I had wanted to have a meal at 7-11, I would have gone directly there...what absolute crap...it's tantamount to less than fast food. Series of unfortunate events at this location. Yesterday we found hair in our steak order, manager was super super nice. She took the item off our bill and offered a replacement meal. Excellent customer service on her end, she was prompt and eager to make it right. Today I went for breakfast, give another chance but here what I've been served. Moldy fruit with Greek yogurt. Blueberries were covered in deep green mold, unbelievable. I noted I would be okay instead of using blueberries if they can use fresh strawberries and get me another one. What I got next was just yogurt and granola in glass and strawberries on the plate... didn't even bother to cut up some and put it in the glass. Paid 13$ for it and upset. read more

I have to up my review from my last visit. Service was super friendly from the start. We had a large party of nine and were seated pretty immediately. We ordered the pimento crab dip and it was really good. It's served with tortilla chips and after we ran out, our waitress did bring us some more without prompting. (Be aware that if you check in, you get a free app!) We ordered everything from burgers to salads to sandwiches and BBQ. (We did have one vegetarian in the crowd and know that there's not a lot of options here but she was able to piece something together.) Our drinks were refilled promptly. Food takes a while to get out here and we knew that going in. In fact, we had a few hours to kill before heading to the airport to drop off family. It's a great place to people watch or just take in the lake views. My meatloaf sandwich was excellent and I will order it again. Those that had the pulled pork weren't greatly impressed. We went to an event on Wednesday evening and expected a delay in service but 2 hours for a pizza is over the top bad service. When we called to see where the order was they said it had been sitting behind them and was supposed to be delivered. We had to leave our venue and go pick up our food that was cold and hard. It was sitting behind the server for 30 minutes. No text messages telling us it was ready or any communication at all. For the atmosphere and cost, you would expect better. read more

I originally did like this place (a few years ago when it was new!). Now, we've been here several times recently, as we house shop for a lake home. Mike loves their fried catfish, but I convinced him today to try the burger. I had it last time and it really was the best burger in every way I can remember. It comes with yummy crunchy fries, too! Today I couldn't resist giving the brunch murmur a shot out of curiosity. Honestly, I should've had the burger I'd thought about all the way from Tulsa! The eggs Benedict was just odd. Nothing to come back for. Weirdly, they were tiny. They sit on a fried green tomato about the size of a silver dollar and sliced so thin, I had to get the menu back out to figure out what it actually was. (Interestingly on other trips we've had their fried pickle appetizer and that's REALLY good with a bbq ranch dressing for dipping. This was about the size of the fried pickle but not nearly as flavorful. The burger my husband had was just perfect! He loved it. On all visits the employees seem happy to be working here. Service can be a little slow but hey.. it's lake time! Today our server did a good job and was very polite. I can't think of his name, a Bible name like Isaiah but not that lol. On a couple of previous visits we had a great server named Gray. Her recommendations are spot on (including how to order the burger!). So if you're at Grand, check out all that's going on at Shangri La, definitely eat here and hope you get Gray to serve you! read more

I order the large 16" pizza to go, we got a totally wrong order for $65.00 that we returned & were advised doc's only made 12" pizzas - I was advised the current menu was on Open Table They show 12" & 16" on both Yelp & Open Table - Open Table says 12" is $10 + $1.50 for each additional ingredient Yelp shows 12" is $14.00+ $1,50 per additional ingredient - we were given our order for free due to the mixup but doc's definitely needs to fix some issues - Last year we did get 16" pizzas & they were great - The pizzas are small, expensive and taste like frozen pizza & were $23 each read more

Absolutely BEWARE!!! The menu description does not match the food. I had a meatloaf sandwich with no cheese however, the meatloaf is stuffed with cheese, no mention of that anywhere. It was to be served on jalapeño cornbread they are out of that and substituted dry toast without telling me and then tried to tell me my toast was cornbread. WTF!!! No compensation was offered for my disgusting meal. Just an oh well sorry bout that. I do not recommend at all Btw I'm pretty sure the house bbq is head country. Doc's is good for the location and if you like breakfast the brunch is pretty decent on the weekends. For lunch, we recommend the BBQ nachos as my wife and I can share and still have left overs. Prices are pretty consistent with Monkey Island and service has always been good. read more

Real disappointment. We came as a party of 6, on a Sunday evening, with few other tables occupied. The hostess sat us quickly. The waitress with an A took our order and after receiving it, she was worthless. We requested an additional tortilla and sour cream and waited 10 minutes. She arrived back at the table to quip, I guess you don't need the tortillas now. We said actually yes we do. Please bring them. I've been here approximately 10 times since they opened a year ago. Yes they've had a couple management changes and the revolving doors of employees never stop but this is the labor pool at the lake! One of the hardest things for people to understand is Grandlake runs on Lake time! When there's just a couple of us we always sit at the bar the service is fantastic and the drinks are strong! When we have a big crew we have found politeness and generosity to the server goes a long ways here!! It's clean , it's new , it's air-conditioned. If you want to sit outside the view of the lake , Marina, and pooi is great! I can't imagine the nightmare trying to run this restaurant when during the week you have conventioneers , in the evenings you have golfers , on the weekends you have impatient Lakers! Oh and throw in all the resort guests on the weekends with all their bratty kids!! Have a drink and chill out... you're on Lake time!! read more

The location and atmosphere of this place is fantastic. It sits right on the lake and has a very classy and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are very nice and welcoming. The quality of the food needs some help. Their menu is pretty small and the food resembles something that you would get from a bar. I'm not sure anything is made from scratch. It appears to be pre packaged and/or frozen ingredients. With a little help in the kitchen this place could be fantastic. read more

Doc's Terrace restaurant is fantastic! What a hidden gem of a Restaurant in the Grove vicinity. Our server Cayla was very attentive, and helpful. We ordered Calamari as an appetizer, and a Taco Salad, Steak Panini, and a Mediterranean Sandwich. All were delicious! We were seated by the pool and had a view of Grand Lake. The decor is nicely decorated- with a modern vibe. The Restaurant wasn't too loud, and it was easy to carry on a conversation during dinner. The bar looks fun, too! We came for a pizza, but decided against it... we're going back again tomorrow! The meatloaf was unique. Meatloaf isn't supposed to be unique. This one is. The chicken fried steak is buttery. Who knew a chicken fried steak could be crispy while tasting buttery and be smothered in gravy?! Really good food. Nice setting, horrible lunch by food and service. 8 of us came by boat, the last boating for the season (October 17). We had a 4 year old and 9 year old with us. I ordered the 'steak panini', my wife the 'fish tacos', 2 guests had hamburgers, the 4 year old the mac and cheese, another had chicken friend steak, another the 'fried shrimp po-boy'. The fish tacos my wife said, were the worst she's ever had. To quote: "They had a tiny bit of what seemed to be ground up flakes of fish mixed with bread in it or something, very dry flour tortillas rather than corn (tortillas), and a ton of cabbage on it, very yucky. Normally fish tacos have a lot of large pieces of fish with a little cabbage. I've eaten fish tacos coast to coast and these were just awful, the worst." My 'steak panini' was in fact not panini, but a regular hoagie roll that was perhaps warmed at most, no crispness to it at all, maybe the whole sandwich was put in an oven for a few minutes at most. But it was a hoagie role, not panini. No crossing grill marks, etc. Just a hoagie roll. The steak part inside was ok, very sparse in portioning, it had dijon not horseradish aioli that was listed on the menu it seemed, or that aioli was heavy on the dijon and light on the horseradish - the dijon came through stronger than the allegedly marinated meat. The menu said it had caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms on it, as well as Gouda cheese - cheese was there a bit, couldn't find much in the way of mushrooms or onions. The 9 year old's mac and cheese and our 2 guests from Europe who wanted an American hamburger had to wait for their orders to arrive - the rest of us were half way through our lunch before they were delivered to the table. No apology was offered nor any explanation...the 4 year old was kept occupied with french fries but was still asking where his lunch was. No one had any idea. Of the shrimp 'poboy' our guest said 'the kettle fried chips are good', and the chicken friend steak was good his wife said. The waitress: She never apologized on why 3 items came 10 minutes after the rest, no explanation offered. She never cleaned a single dirty plate away, so the table became as crowded as the kitchen counter and sink after Thanksgiving's feast at grandma's house. It piled up with everything from the appetizer of tortilla chip duo with guacamole to the lunch dishes and old glasses of soft drinks, water, and tea. She'd disappear for several minutes at at time and seemed to have no clue as to what was happening on the table, nor the timing of the orders coming out...just a long meal made worse by the poor food and service. We've been now 4x to Doc's, with the last two leaving a bad taste in our mouths, to the point my wife said we'll take future guests to eat elsewhere on the lake. Phenomenal food and great atmosphere that provides for nice upscale dining as well as casual eating out. Impressed with the diverse menu and higher-level of service than would be expected at most restaurants in the area. The views from the patio and certain tables inside the restaurant are some of the best on the lake. read more
