We really like this place. Our waitress was super friendly and very helpful. We got the wedge salad and it was amazing along with a hand tossed pizza with everything on it. The crust was next level. They have a really cool little bar that is kind of enclosed away from the eating area that looked like they made amazing cocktails. We will definitely stop back by to experience that. read more

It's been about 5 years since I have been to this restaurant and I'm glad to see that is now under new ownership. Ironically I got to meet the family that took it over and they are great people whom I believe will revive this place. The service was great and had no complaints on that end. Always friendly and welcoming. Now to the food. I got some appetizers such as the jalapeño pimento cheese dip and cheese curds. It was as expected. I ordered the prime rib, which is what they are supposed to be known for. I ordered my prime rib medium rare and it came out well done. Prime rib is usually served with a horseradish sauce but I didn't get any. I asked for a side and my server came back and said they had to make some. I had no problems with that, but when the sauce came out, it tasted way closer to tartar sauce than horseradish sauce. Truly, this was the worst prime rib that I have ever eaten in my life. Speaking as an old customer of Shebangs. the new owners or a lot better than the last owner and the product suffered dearly and the customer service the new owners today the food is not as good and the service takes a while with no apology I miss Joyce when she owned it it ran efficiently. Food was excellent product was on time and atmosphere was amazing this new owner that they have now I don't think it's gonna make it. They don't have the quality nor the service it takes to overcome all the new restaurants in the area. This is only my opinion and it's an honest one if you go there, please keep an eye on your pricing because they charge too much for what little they give you and the quality that's there. read more

Food: should've known that expectations for food were down in the dumps when we asked what wine they had and instead of saying regions or vintages, our waitress listed types of wine. The Cabernet was cloyingly sweet and set the tone for a pretty meh meal. The pork chops I ordered can only be described as tasting like shoe leather. They were some of toughest I ever had and I highly regret ordering it. Salad was also WAY too salty. My wife ordered a salad where half of the ingredients were missing because they were out of it. Key elements like candied pecans and the dressing were missing. I know it's off season but the lack of ingredients and the lack of cooking finesse are inexcusable for a restaurant. Service: server was nice. However, she neglected to tell us various things were out of stock including half of the ingredients on the salad. It's almost laughable, one of the main menu items was a ribeye, and they were out of that. We had a reservation at 5pm so it's crazy that they were out of stock of so many things at that time of day. Ambiance: very crazy and unique atmosphere as far as the decorations and the menu descriptions. However it felt too much at times, and the lack of music in the restaurant kind of killed the mood. read more

We booked a reservation for a bachelorette party and received a confirmation text the morning of that our reservation was still upheld. We show up and there is a sign on the door that says "temporarily closed." Tell me why we got a confirmation text confirming our reservation when they are obviously not open. We called them multiple times throughout the day and got voicemail. The voicemail never said they were temporarily closed. I am disappointed by the way that this was handled by them! read more

Sad to give this 2 stars since I've been wanting to try it for a while. Went on a weekday night. We waited at the hostess stand for several minutes while others waiting were ringing the bell for service. The others were regulars that ended up having to venture through the restaurant to find the owner to be sat. Finally the owner came out to seat them, then seat us. Our whole experience was over an hour long...which does not bode well for an acceptable experience. Ordered the filet. It came out luke warm. I found a hair in the broccoli unfortunately. My family seemed to enjoy their meals. Would have been better if it didn't take so long and if our server was more attentive. Were told that they only had one chef. A restaurant so large should have found a way around this issue. The regulars came up to our table (after they already ate, but we were still waiting in our food) said, "they usually don't take this long". I guess you need to know the owners to get fast service. I gave them 2 stars because the decor was cool. read more

The place looks cute and has great personality. Definitely read the menu carefully because there are knee slappers in there. Popped up here from the Shangri-La for dinner with my boss and coworker. We wanted someplace to eat not on the grounds since we were there for a conference already. We started with the jalapeño crab dip with the toasted baguette. It was good. We were pretty hungry, so it tasted better in the moment than what it actually was. It wasn't spicy. The only jalapeños we tasted were the slices placed on top. It's mainly the cream cheese and not much jalapeño. Baguette pieces were okay. The herbs on it were good, but of course not a strong flavor by themself. We got a papa sized pizza to split between the 3 of us. It was a good size, and we weren't able to finish it all so we took 4 slices back to the hotel. They put the leftover on a piece of circular cardboard, so it makes for easy reheat in the oven if you are able to reheat it in an oven. Honestly disappointed in the Margherita pizza. The cheese pull was satisfying, but there is no red sauce. The pizza tasted bland without the acidity do the sauce. If you got a bite with basil it had more flavor, but it was mainly plain tasting cheese. Maybe we should have got a different flavor pizza, but sadly won't be back to try more since we are from Texas. read more

Third time here and second bad experience. About 5 tables full. After 45 minutes, we still do not have appetizers. The server was doing her best to help out, but the cooks were struggling to get any food out. Hadn't been to The Shebang in at least 10 years. Apparently I hadn't been in ten years because I wasn't that impressed. Went there tonight with a group of six. Service was good, but food was a big disappointment to a few of us. One person said the lasagna was good. I had the pasta with Alfredo sauce, boyfriend had pizza. I was expecting something like fettuccine Alfredo similar to Olive Garden. What I got was barely warm pasta with a thick sauce that tasted like in came from a can. What a disappointment. Called a to-go order in for two pizzas. Was told it would likely be 30 minutes and they'd call us. We showed up in 30 minutes to simply pay for the order. They then told us it would be at least another 30 minutes because they weren't even in the oven because "they take care of their on-premises diners before they even think about their to-go orders." We've eaten here over the years and I can tell you there's nothing on their menu worth waiting an hour. Service is subpar at best. Finally, asked for ranch sauce because they always serve it with pizza ordered for dine-in. Was told it would be an additional $4. Clearly not the experience one should have. read more

This place used to be one of the best restaurants in the area when there weren't a lot of nicer restaurants. Unfortunately it's not been the same on our last two visits and the food has definitely changed for the worse. They used to have some of the best prime rib around and it was never inexpensive but it was always top notch. Now it's even more expensive but the quality has drastically changed for the worse and it appears they have begun purchasing pre sliced portions instead. The baked potatoes were soggy, the two people who had pizza thought it was below average and neither cared for it. The calamari was rubbery and soggy instead of being crispy, our party of 6 people were all disappointed as we have eaten there many times before and went back after several years for a birthday dinner. Our server was great and she felt bad about the food but her service was the only positive of the night. This was on a week night when it wasn't crowded and I would have been embarrassed if I had taken a client or a date. The place hasn't changed in decades and it could use a good cleaning and a refresh of the interior but that's not likely to happen as this place is on the downhill slide especially with more competition than ever. Maybe it's time the place was sold so someone can return it to its former glory as the best restaurant on Monkey Island. read more

This is a very unique place. I am not sure where to start. Our group had a great time, but I think it is because we felt we were getting punked. We arrived and as we were being seated, the hostess tells us they don't have enough menus and the silverware was being rolled and it would be out soon. But when we get into the dining room we see tables with no people, but the tables have silverware and menus set and we weren't sat at those tables. Lol. The young server was hilarious and she had a "I don't care attitude" in the most charming way. We spent so much time laughing with her and how she would answer the questions that we asked. The room we were in was very loud and full, this sometimes added to the confusion and funny moments. We asked about the very unique "charm" of the place and what was the story behind it, we never got that answer. The menu is just as confusing as the decor as many of the dishes do not have descriptions and we just decided to guess what they might be. The food was ok. The experience became more about the fun and silly time we had there instead of the food. It was a dinner we won't forget. read more

There was a time when I could count on Shebang's for a pretty good chicken/country fried steak. It saddens me that those days appear to be gone. The last c.f. steak I had there was mediocre at best and I was very disappointed. It tasted bland like a pre-prepared frozen one. I will wait awhile and give them another chance this summer and, based on the quality and taste, write another, hopefully positive review. In fairness, their potatoes and side dishes were good. Wait staff are attentive usually. I'm hopeful that things will get better. read more

I have only had takeout, hoping to get in and try the place soon. We ordered thin crust pizzas to go and it was two hours before it was ready. We went here and were just going to get drinks at the bar but decided to try the mussels and later a pizza. We had talked to the owner a couple of days ago in the boutique she also runs that is connected and found it was non smoking and that was a plus because my wife has a problem being around it. For a Tuesday night in this area it was fairly full in the restaurant and most seemed like they had been there before. We ate at Shebang's Saturday night and it was excellent! We came down to Grand with the camper for the weekend and a friend told us to try it and he did not steer us wrong! My wife had the chicken and I had the ribeye and both were beyond our expectation. Definitely the best of the Grand Lake food options I have tried, and bonus points for the fact that you can get here by golf cart from Shangri-La and most of this side of Monkey Island. This place is SUPER popular, so best to get in so we rather than later. The restaurant is brothel themed, which is definitely interesting, as are all of the servers I have had in my few times here. The menu slants Italian but has lots of options like Burgers and salads if that's not your scene. I've had pizza and it was great! Also tried the jalapeño crab dip and wasn't disappointed! Just enough kick to taste the jalapeño and not too fishy/crabby as these dishes can often be. They offer take out, which is great if you don't have the time to wait. read more

So...I've eaten here 4 times in the last 8 days and this is my first time writing a review for them. Why, you ask...simple...I wanted to see if they were consistently ridiculously awesome, and they ARE!!! The food has been amazing. We've had the key west chicken (yum) pizza (great) hamburgers (omgeez the fries) blackened trout (outstanding) chicken fettuccine (better than anywhere in OKC) jambalaya (oh yeah!) madame clucks chicken strips (light as a feather haha...and the desserts are flat out ridiculous. I own an online bakery and cry over the chocolate cake. It's homemade and decadent. Also has the french silk and peach cobbler. Everything on the menu is from scratch and made with love and it SHOWS. We had Sara for our waitress 3/4 times and she has been nothing short of amazing and courteous...hands down the best service experience we had in Grove the 2 weeks we have been here. I don't know when or if I'll be back to Grove but if I do, I have my dining location lined out. They have an interesting kitschy decor that normally turns me off (think Victorian bed and breakfast meets swap meet) but it didn't take away from my dining experience. They are also only open for dinner so plan accordingly. Cross my fingers the chef and Sara are here the next time I come. read more
