Their ribeye tastes delicious - probably just seasoned with salt. It was tender and perfectly cooked. I ordered crispy hasbrowns and they were exceptional. I went mid-morning on a Thursday and there was one server for the whole place and she was incredible. 8 tables and 20 people, and she sat me, got me drinks and a menu, and took my order within minutes. Atmosphere and décor, both minimal. The food and service excellent. The usual comment from my wife, only this time stated with emphasis, "That was the best damn chicken fried chicken I have had!" It was a big, big chicken breast steak with excellent crunchy breading. She picked mashed potatoes and fried okra for her two sides. Real mashed potatoes. $19.99 for a 12 oz ribeye cooked over a flame and two sides. Try and beat that at.... well anywhere! It worked for me with a small side salad and fries. Check the pictures. The chicken fried steak here has to be fantastic too. On Matt's website, many of the beef, pork and chicken entrees start their description with the words "hand cut". That would lead one to believe that Matt cuts the steaks and chops in the restaurant. NE Oklahoma is ranch country. It might be local beef? Three recommended meals: Chicken fried Chicken, Ribeye, and Chicken fried Steak. Pick from their big selection of sides to round out the meal. Save room for dessert, there is a case full of beautiful cakes to choose from. Don't overlook the catfish. There was plate after plate of catfish coming out of the kitchen this Friday. We stumbled upon this iconic gem during our anniversary getaway to Grand Lake. Our usual breakfast spot was apparently closed on Tuesdays. So we had to find somewhere else to have breakfast. Another great eatery in Grove! It's one of the only restaurants open on Mondays, which is nice. I stopped in for dinner, and it was delicious. Service was exceptional. I was seated quickly, and my food came out hot and fresh. Every time I think I find the best fried mushrooms, I find another spot! These fried mushrooms are next level good. Hand battered slices of portobellos! No button mushrooms here. Delicious house made ranch. Another thing worth mentioning is the cucumber salad side. It's sweet and pickled cucumber, red pepper, and shallot. It's SO good. The chicken fried steak was recommended by the waitress, and it did not disappoint. I went untraditional with brown gravy, and it was fork tender and delicious. The inside is simple. It's just a big metal building, but wonderful folks and food! Oh! I grew up in Grove, OK, and lived here until I turned 18. This diner used to be a Catfish place, but now it's a gem for down-home Southern cooking. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food? It's almost as good as your grandma's--if not better! Around these parts, our grandmas knew how to cook up some of the best ranch and Southern food, and you can get that same deliciousness right here. I go to grove about twice a month for a haircut. I normally go to Drakes or that Mosa Japanese restaurant. I decided to try something new for lunch and went to Matt's place. Well that was a mistake. I get there at 10:30 AM. They have a breakfast menu and weren't about to switch from it. It's a diner! Why aren't you serving breakfast and lunch all day throughout the day? I was really wanting a burger! Well I say screw it and end up ordering this hash brown and sausage plate with a side of biscuits and gravy. Yeah don't recommend it or the biscuits. Biscuits were hard, hash brown plate was flavorless, and the sausage was like summer sausages but they were hard. Now let's talk about the waitstaff. I didn't get a refill on my water, napkins, and when I pushed the plate in front of me to show I was done it took 20 minutes to get the check. I do not recommend this restaurant if it's 10:30 and you are wanting a burger. read more

Ambiance is basically just a diner- the place was packed and it was loud with all the conversations going on but we were able to easily visit within our party of 6. Pictures of Grand Lake were a nice touch. Only 4 stars, given the wait, but will definitely return for breakfast and may even try out lunch/dinner. Entrees are reasonably priced. We were looking for a old fashioned diner for breakfast and found Matt's Place. It definitely fit the description and the food does too, although the portions are a little smaller than we're used to. Nothing fancy but good, nonetheless. While the French toast looked really good, I got the chimichanga burrito and it was tasty! Would have liked it a little spicier, but still tasty! Wife and I were driving through Grove and stopped for lunch. It looks really plain and they didn't do anything to create any ambiance. It reminded me of my high school cafeteria. DO NOT let the looks deter you! Great food.!! Great service!! Large portions!!! I had the lunch special with chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, etc. The CFS was huge and prepared perfectly!
