My wife and myself thought we would visit Docs and have their raved about biscuits and gravy. We must of picked the wrong day because our food was awful, the gravy tasted like wall paper glue and the sausage had no flavor. The serving size was huge. We didnt eat but a couple of bites and left. We hadn't been to Doc's Diner for many years. How long you ask? The last time we were there doc was still alive and smoking was prevalent if not mandatory there. Well, of course, some things have changed. No smoking anymore and lots of slot machines in the back. But one thing hasn't changed. The food is still delicious and inexpensive and the service is still friendly. We each had an omelette and they were huge. Tons of bacon and sausage on each of them. Docs most of the time there breakfast are decent to awesome at time today I placed and order for a country skillet and my girl a omelette white with a few other things roughly 36 bucks for two breakfast unfortunately our plates had no flavor to them were pretty bland and I didn't get three eggs on my skillet only two not sure what's going on at docs but I think they need to get there Hearts back into there restaurant passion not saying there horrible but this was my experience today and now we're both on the toilet witch kind of sucks anyway we won't give up on docs might've been a bad day or morning read more

This little gem, is located in a strip mall at the end. My girlfriend told me you have to get here before church lets out on Sunday, or you will be waiting a long time. We got here early. The food is phenomenal. Great motif inside, race, cars, and 50's theme. I had the Denver omelette, with American fries, and sourdough toast. Homemade biscuits and gravy are a specialty, very reasonably priced, and plenty of parking. The staff is very friendly and they make you feel welcome. Hubby and I stopped in for breakfast while staying in Marathon. Ordered the eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. Delicious!! I am not a big pancake fan but these were the best I ever ate. Hubby had corned beef and hash and enjoyed it. Great customer service too!! read more

A lot of lottery promoting here -All you can eat Friday fish fry. This is the real reason why I come here -Owner frequently interacts with the customers. You can tell they care about the business. Cons: -Food is generally average, but sometimes I've had some exceptional fish frys -This place is a little odd in terms of atmosphere. Has a 50's diner look but it definitely looks a little aged. Popular spot amongst first responders looking for a good, quick, solid breakfast. Ambiance is a little outdated but the coffee is hot and the smiles are warm! They have the best Stuffed Biscuits & Gravy! (Sausage patty, egg & cheese stuffed in the biscuit..) Yum! :) Their Friday Fish Fry is also one of the best in the Rockford area. Light batter, never greasy, and leftovers are even delish the next day. We adore this place! read more

Went for 1st time and definitely will be returning! Went for fish after reviewing the places listed for best in Rockford and been to other places listed but never heard of Docs... As far as diners go, this place is nothing special. I tried this place out because I heard it had the best biscuits and gravy in the Rockford area. Sad to say, I was disappointed! The biscuits and gravy were dry, the biscuits were not great and the gravy lacked any flavor. This may just be me being a Bs and G snob because I feel that I make delicious biscuits and gravy, but I think that this place is very mediocre. The diner itself is OK as far diners go. Nothing special, but it was odd and somewhat uncomfortable how there was no music what-so-ever in that place though. The prices are extremely cheap BTW, which I guess it goes to show you get what you pay for. I will continue my search for a great non-chain breakfast place in the Rockford area and not look back. read more

this place is a go to for me and my dad. we've been going here every weekend for the past 5+ years. no matter what you get at this place it's delicious! my go to food is the ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and white toast. i would highly recommend trying that if you are new to the place. my dad either gets the denver omelette or the 2x2x2 and he always loves it! this place never disappoints!!! read more

For people that are tired of the same old chain restaurants in the area, Docs is the place to go. A great meal for a small price. I highly recommend the meat skillet for you big eaters. The owners are extremely friendly and my wife and I look forward to having a meal at Docs. read more

Walked in, sat down. 2 other tables came in, sat down. The other 2 tables got coffee, water, AND their orders taken. We still sat there. Finally, I turned around and looked at the 3 people standing around. I think my stern look, made her realize we still didn't get coffee. She came over, gave us coffee, as others looked on. After I realized the other 2 tables had ordered, I told Todd, i'm leaving. It was a weird feeling. People kept looking at us as if we didn't belong. I went to the register and paid for my coffee, which I never even took a sip. Todd took 1 sip! She still charged us for 2 coffees. When she asked how everything was, I let it go! I told her, 2 tables walked in after us, they got coffee AND their orders taken. She continued to take my money. I will NEVER go back to Doc's. Not sure if they are just stupid as a waitress or prejudice! Either way, I'll take my money elsewhere. read more
