We have been wanting to go here since it was Mitchum's and finally did for our anniversary last night. The food is amazing and our waitress Jennifer was awesome! We were cordially greeted when we arrived and our table was ready and waiting for us. I had made a reservation and I think it's a good idea as they were quite busy. Atmosphere is casual but elevated with cloth tablecloths and napkins. Entree prices are a little high but worth it. The interior is gorgeous. They have dinner specials during the week and they do pizza as well, so we will be back for that sometime for sure. The bar is beautiful and quite big. High ceilings and track lighting complete the look. We split the Oysters Rockefeller along with expertly made cocktails and they were delicious. I had the Braised Short Rib and my husband had the Greek Pasta Bake. Both were yummy. We each had a glass of wine with dinner, and dessert was a piece of key lime pie that is made in-house. The food and presentation were top-notch. All in all a great experience and can't wait to taste the pizza!! If you live close you should try it and if you don't you should make the drive! read more

The service was great - super nice waitress. The restaurant was VERY warm.. we were a table of 6 and everyone was sweating. Not sure if the AC was out.. but not good. My lamp chops had some much potential.. they came out raw :( I sent them back... and they came out raw again. (I originally asked for them medium). My suggestion would be to ask for them well done!!! I had a birthday party event last night at Momma Maria's. I easily fell in love with the Maple Room as it felt like a perfect intimate setting. Dorian Mitchell and his staff were absolutely amazing and a complete joy to work with. Dorian was super attentive and responsive to any questions I had along the way. This was our first time to Momma Maria's. When we walked in the smell of sewer was very apparent. We looked at the menu before we made a reservation (which wasn't necessary since we were the only diners). As soon as the waitress came to the table she informed us that the menu had changed this week. No problem as we were looking forward to their selections of pizza. Sorry, no pizza since the oven had been down for over a week. We looked over the menu again. Two people ordered lasagna, I ordered a steak Caesar salad and the other person ordered a chicken dish. Went for group dinner w extended family. They were great with reservations and were ready for us when we arrived. Really nice location, lots of parking and interior very nicely done. We had many different items for apps and entrees but the 2 that truly stood out were the spanakopita (best I have ever had) and brussels for apps. Entrees were good but not extremely memorable. Wood burning oven turning out good pies but once again not anything I would need to order again. Service and wait staff was really really good. This place came highly recommended by an old friend, and I can tell you they didn't disappoint. The short rib and special pizza were great. The rib was perfectly tender and seasoned very well.... Not over seasoned. It's difficult to describe the pizza. It was a nice thin crust with what was clearly very fresh ingredients. The appetizer was the popcorn crab, which doesn't sound like anything I would order, but upon hearing the description, I took a dive. In short, it was multiple chunks of lump crab meat with a paper thin breading with light seasoning and a special dipping sauce, which you didn't have to use, but it was good. This is a lovely spot with great service and perfectly spaced tables to make the atmosphere lively and yet not loud....an often overlooked detail that can make or break the evening. Dean was our server. He was SUPER helpful and made us feel cared for throughout our meal. Our group ordered a greek salad, greek pizza and the tuna special. The greek salad wasn't the best I've ever had, but was a nice prelude to the greek pizza. The greek pizza was delicious, but probably better described as a loaded veg pizza. It was baked in the onsite pizza oven which gave the crust a lovely texture. The tuna was slightly overcooked, but still tasty. Overall, Momma Maria's is a great choice and will deliver a great time for you and your dinner companion(s). If you're looking for an extraordinary culinary experience, you may leave slightly disapointed. read more

I was taken here by a friend. I wasn't expecting such a "fancy" place, for a casual dinner; but I decided to roll with it and enjoy. She mentioned they had an "Early Bird"...and it turns out, that's exactly what I would have gone with; as I could have had a salad, the Short Ribs, and a snack for the $35 asking price. Problem is...it was never offered to us! I'm only aware what it was, and that it was never offered to us (oh...530pm seating on a dead Tuesday night in February), because my friend mentioned it, and I found the menu online. Didn't want to grouse. Had a good House salad, and decided to split a pizza. We ordered a Funghi, but with the Truffle Oil on the side. Maybe this really changed the nature of the pie, because what we got...was (very good) crust, with a couple of dried mushrooms and slimy onions. 2 drinks, a DELICIOUS "Cannoli" Cake (ate more like a Tiramisu, in my opinion...but it was outstanding, whatever they call it!) to share...and a bill just north of $100. This is a beautiful space...and I have no doubt there are some good dishes there. I'm going 3 stars, because they deserve another shot. My biggest complaint, was the omission of the EB special. I work in Hospitality, and I find this kind of withholding...poor policy. read more

Lovely restaurant in Trappe. A hidden gem. It was a halfway meeting point for our group so it was perfect (Cambridge and Easton). We got the fried oysters and Brussels for starters. I'd definitely would get them again. The Brussels had a very nice crispy texture. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The Caesar salad dressing was on point. I think the winners were the crab cakes and scallop dish. The service were incredibly nice! It really makes it a 5 star review. The women who helped us was great and thoughtful. Consistently one of the best restaurants on the eastern shore. It's heavy on the Mediterranean flavors which works very well. Highly recommend the cabbage rolls, lamb kabobs and the short ribs. The specials are always good too. Ambience and cocktail program are also on point. read more

Highly recommend Momma Maria's! My partner and I went on a Monday night, we didn't have a reservation, but we're seated right away. It was prime rib night but we decided to get something different. I had the Italian Shrimp and Grits (my mouth is still watering typing this), it was amazing! Cute atmosphere, and very friendly staff!!! Great little hidden spot. All around amazing experience. We were driving home from OC. We wanted something really good. This was 3 min off Rt 50 and wonderful. We had the pork chops and braised short ribs. Both were cooked really well. We got a turnover to go. It lasted all of of 5 min in the car before we ate every little piece of it. Very good. We were driving for another 3 hours, so we did not have drinks. But I looked at the bar and I must say if you are a bourbon or whiskey person, stop here. They had many of my favorites and some new ones I will be back to try. Great meal and staff, too. read more

Wow is all I can say. What an incredible gem of a restaurant tucked away in Trappe. It could be called an Italian restaurant, but it's more Mediterranean than anything else. Pizza to be sure, but also incredible fish, steak, and many other things. Delicious and perfectly plated. I had the special of the day, which was a wonderful half rack of lamb with new potatoes.
