    Castellano

Another 5 star review. These sandwiches are massive. They come in 11 in and 7 in. They are packed to the BRIM. Everything has the most intense flavor. The Castellano had a crisped pile of gorgeous beef, with crispy fries, and super fresh veggies (basically a cheeseburger on a sub). My husband ordered this one, so I didn't taste it personally but he absolutely LOVED it. The Thommy, The Three Fingers is a chopped cheese. It's, by god, the best I've ever had in my life. I add peppers, provolone and mayo and an extra side of tzatziki (labeled garlic cucumber on the menu), and oil and vinegar (which tastes like Italian dressing, but who's counting?). The bread is phenomenal. I may literally just order a sub roll with no ingredients one day, just so I can eat it toasted with butter, with every meal I have. It's soft and fluffy, crispy and chewy all at the same time. (It almost gives bagel, but not tough). I also got the y cheesecake. Not as special, perhaps from the Cysco truck (iykyk), but I still bought it and scarfed it down. Strawberry topping was def the average canned-strawberry topping (but I personally love that). I cannot stress, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD! As for service, the entire team is so friendly and helpful. They kid around, make silly jokes and make sure your order is prepared fresh and fast. It isn't "fast food fast", but also doesn't taste like shit either, so the wait is worth it. At most 10-15 min if you don't call ahead. As for seating, in winter there are only two two-tops so seating is extremely limited. It is mostly a deli-and-get-outta-here kind of place, but nonetheless welcoming and charming. They have tons of Italian memorabilia all over the walls including giant GodFather posters, taxi plates and more. Today was my first time inside, but I've had my husband go pick up food several times on the way home. I cannot live without one of these subs AT MINIMUM once a month.

This place has some of the best sandwiches around.!!! Boars Head Brand meats and cheeses ! Check out the menu .. my new favorite sandwich is the BLT that I got from this place. Let me tell you customer service was absolutely outstanding. The portion size in this place was crazy. You will definitely want to bring your appetite for when you get a sandwich from this place. Because they are huge you've been warned lol .

How ironic is it that my hunbun was literally 2 mins from this spot as I was in route to?! Sounds like a match made in New York Italian deli to me! Hahahaha Was craving a tuna sandwich and remembered my cousin telling me this place had some good tuna, so I ventured down to give it a try. My better half met me here and decided to give it a try himself. My tuna on white toast with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickles was massive! I could literally only eat half the sandwich. It was pretty tasty- but it was missing something... My hunnie opted for the Frank Sinatra and he said it was OK...flavorful...but nothing he'd want to take the ride back down for. He said the same thing way back when I came here before and brought him an Italian sub to try way back when... Welp! I think the same goes for me. love that they have so many options tho! Maybe one day I'll venture down and try breakfast...or the salmon burger...hmmmmm*decisions decision* Already plotting for my next meal! Whether it's a sandwich, burger with fries, or a fresh garden salad- this place has tons of options to choose from. Choose wisely my friends! lol Happy Yelping.

For some this place might be a bit of a drive to Brandywine to get to but it is so worth it. I am a fan of a good sandwich be it a grinder, hoagie, hero, wedge, submarine or spuckie. This place offers a bit of everything to include breakfast but so far on my trips there I have stuck to their sandwiches. If you have a picky eater you can customize anything via the app or their website along with the kiosks they have setup. This is a real convenience in case you want to make some mods to your food and to not hold up the line while on your phone playing the messenger for someone on the other end. There is a place to sit down and eat inside and outside but most people seem to be the grab and go type. Never have I been there with no less than four people waiting for orders but the wait is minimum. My go to selections are the NY Reuben and the Italian combo along with an order of their fries. I am not sure who the vendor is for their fries or that seasoning used but these fries are just plain good and always come out hot. I am talking did these get pulled out the lava but I am not mad at them. They offer a good snack if you are driving back home. The amount of meat on your sandwiches will not leave you upset as it is a decent amount and you do not need to go on a search and find mission through lettuce to find the meat. The reuben is very good but it is my recommendation that you get an extra side of mustard and Russian dressing for dipping. A good find on Yelp and thanks to the reviews that gave great descriptions that sparked my interests.

My law enforcement friends have been patronizing this spot forever and managed to keep it under wraps. However, now the secret is OUT. NY Deli is always bustling!!! I call my orders in to limit the wait & still have to wait in a line to retrieve it although it moves quickly. There is limited outdoor seating but most grab and go. This has been my go to deli for years. Long before I moved to the area. As many Yelpers have shared, they make a great sandwiches, salads, & other deli stuff and use high quality ingredients. I recently discovered their breakfast offerings. I normally cook breakfast at home which is why I was late to that party. My breakfast sandwich (egg & cheddar on a croissant) was truly delicious. I forgot to take a pic but there's always next time, NY Deli also offers pancakes but no French toast. Tip: They charge a little more if you're using a credit card. So if you have cash, use it.

Grabs Bullhorn. "Special Announcement Yelpies!" While in the boondocks I asked my partner in crime where I could get a freshly made breakfast sandwich. He mentioned New York Italian Deli, so off I went to get my sandwich. Cute quaint little house looking business sitting on a corner, looks like "home". I walk in, I'm the only one there. The nice man says you looking for breakfast, the menu is right over there. The deli had so many options. I mean this may have to be a place I come to often. The selection is huge! Salads looked amazing! I walk back to the cashier to order a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. He asks what type of bread, he names them, "white, wheat." I respond wheat. He continues, "pita, croissant." I look up and my eyes twinkle, I change my wheat to croissant. He must have known I had no self control. The pastry window was calling my name, "Nessa try me." So I listened, I ordered a carrot cake because why not! He offers coffee, I look up and say can you put a lot of creamer and sugar and he says you get to do it yourself. Sold! Give me a coffee Sir! I am eating this sandwich right now while writing this review! It's top notch. The croissant was delicious. They loaded this sandwich with a half pack of bacon. This sandwich deserves a Gold Medal. My coffee, was perfect because I made it! The carrot cake is to die for. Yelpie Math 309 Reviews = 4.5 Stars You get the point! Pulls out Bullhorn again. "Come Try This Place!" Love the old cabs!

Drove up and immediately noticed the old yellow cabs. Love them. My niece and I were camping in the area and decided to stop by for take-away. We were immediately greeted by the cashier upon entrance and workers were cleaning the eating area. Love the mob themed pictures and the mob themed sandwich names. I ordered the Al Capone (Smoked bourbon ham, smoked gouda cheese, lettuce, tomato and banana peppers, sans honey mustard ham glazed, got that on the side) My niece ordered the Frank Sinatra (Hot turkey pastrami, munster cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and honey mustard). The bread has an amazing bagely exterior with a soft chewy interior - perfection and held abundance of meat and toppings beautifully. I honestly would order just the roll. We took our bounty back to our campsite and before I could snap a pic of the Sinatra my niece had devoured it. She said it was that good :) I subtracted a star because one the female sandwich maker had a poor attitude when I asked her questions about my sandwich, she acted like I was bothering her. I just was trying to make sure it was made correctly since we were not dining in, jeesh. If I was in the area I would definitely return.

Glad I don't live nearby, because I would eat here twice a day, every day!!!! Authentic NY deli serving unbelievably delicious sandwiches. We had a Ruben, an Italian, and a Pastrami on rye. I destroyed the Pastrami on Rye, best Pastrami I've had in a long time. The Italian was so big my co-worker could only eat half. Same with the Ruben. Awesome staff too - food came out quick. Fair prices for the quality and amount you get.

Upon entering. You're greeted. The ventilation is very good. They had the heat on so it's nice and warm inside. Very good amount of free flowing air circulating which is a plus. Parking is very easy. There's an attached parking lot as well as street parking. There's an unused lot directly across from the deli large enough for truck parking. **SEE PICS** The selection of different subs is very good. Also very cool naming for the subs. They can be a tad bit pricey however depending on the length of the sub. But the best part is the PORTION SIZES which justifies the price. The subs are loaded with MASSIVE amounts of meat which is a major plus. Unlike subway and other sub shops with their "accordion" style meat. Where you get synthetic meat stretch to the max to make it look like you got a lot of meat but in reality. It's four little slices. Here. They actually use thick real "boarshead" deli meat. One of the best brands. **SEE PICS** They are also very generous with the toppings and sauces. There's a very good selection of chips as well as cold drinks. The drinks are priced very fairly. Soda, water and juice is available. The employees are very friendly. Professional and social as well. Very relaxed environment with amazing decor from various movies and tv shows. The general customer base is of all ages and all different backgrounds. A lot of military personnel eat here as well as law enforcement. Very highly disciplined customer base. Everyone is relaxed and down to earth as well as social. Overall. A++++++. ,I'll almost SWEAR BY THIS PLACE. All the times I've been here recently. The subs are amazing. Loaded with meat and toppings and amazing customer service.

Second best sandwiches I have ever had, but best on the East coast…read more I'm in Arlington on business from the West Coast and was looking for a quick lunch spot when I stumbled into this little hidden gem. I've eaten at plenty of delis over the years, but Eddie's Little Shop completely surprised me with flavors I've genuinely never tasted before. The sandwiches here are incredibly unique, creative combinations that just explode with flavor in ways I wasn't expecting. What really stood out were the huge, fresh chunks of real mozzarella, paired with their homemade-style dressings, sauces, and condiments. It's easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had, and I've tried a lot. The portions are generous, the bread is spot-on. I'll definitely be back before my trip ends. If you're in Arlington, do not miss Eddie's Little Shop Deli. Highly, highly recommended!

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Hello, 911? I'd like to report an attempted murder…read more Eddie's tried to kill me with a monstrous sandwich. Saturday, midafternoon, I stop by for an Eddie Mootz ($17) (salami, ham, sopressata, mozzarella, on seeded italian). I'm handed this brown paper bag that weighs, I dunno, 3 lbs? I have to carry this back with me to the Metro. Twice along the way, I have to stop and catch my breath. I get home, my kitchen counter sags a bit where I put the bag down. Cripes, Eddie's. And the sandwich itself? 2 meals, easily. Thick thick piles of meat and a shovel-full of mozzarella. Very chewy bread. I work up a sweat just eating this, there's so much labor involved. I ordered online from the Metro, around the DCA stop, and got a notification it was ready before I got to the King Street stop. Fast turnaround. Eddie's is now on my list of places to make a point of going to for sandwiches in the DMV. Really good sandwich, and a lot of it.

Capo Italian Deli - Old Town Alexandria…read more I reviewed our new Old Town neighbor - Capo Italian Deli - early in 2026. Time for an update. The deli is outstanding. Taking up a tiny footprint on the N. Washington Avenue thoroughfare, a few seconds from King Street, the deli delivers both hot and cold deli entrees, soft drinks, and salads. There's maybe half a dozen tables inside and a couple of tables outside, but from what I have seen thus far, most of the trade is with carry-out service, drawing from the excellent reputation Capo brought with it as it arrived in Old Town (the restaurant has siblings in Shaw NW, and Western Market in the District, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA, Annapolis and Potomac, MD). Fresh Philly rolls for those seeking a traditional hero sandwich, with go-to seasonings and all of the essential protein groups. My favorite is a large half roast beef half turkey with lettuce, tomato, and mayo (I skip the Italian dressing, which is part of the default, and I skip the cheese). I can and have made this $18 sandwich last three meals (so I ask them to cut the sandwich into three pieces), and the ingredients stay fresh for the next 24 hours. The last time I did this the sandwich fed me from 4:45 a.m. to 9 p.m., as I served as an election officer at one of Alexandria's polling places. Neat, trim, and completely satisfying. Just a point of concern: given its location, the opportunity to double-park while picking up an order seems to be just too tempting. This location, however, cannot over the long term sustain double-parkers. The deli is about 100 feet from the intersection of King Street and N. Washington Street. There is a dedicated lane for cars seeking to park adjacent to the deli. And then there are two northbound lanes on N. Washington Street. That's it - just two lanes serving one of the busiest intersections in Old Town. If a delivery-service car pulls up alongside one of the parked cars, all hell will break loose by drivers who suddenly find a delivery vehicle double-parking in front of Capo, leaving but one northbound lane open for however long it takes for the delivery agent to gather the order and beat it out of there. This happens with remarkable frequency, starting at about 11 a.m. and running throughout the day. That's not going to make good neighbors of Capo's nearby shops. Alexandria Parking has its work cut out for it, but here the rule prohibiting double-parking has to be enforced - it's both a safety issue and an issue of common courtesy. Doesn't matter if you think you'll just be in and out of the deli in seconds. We know it doesn't work that way, not always, and here - not even often. More often than not the double-parker will be creating a traffic hazard just by parking alongside a parked car in front of the deli. Please, don't do this.

This review is based solely on the customer service I received over the phone…read more I had placed a $62 order through DoorDash and chose Capo even though there are plenty of other deli spots nearby, because they normally make really good sandwiches. Unfortunately, the customer service this time was extremely disappointing. I called with a simple question about the bread since I have braces and needed something soft. The person who answered the phone was rude and dismissive, acting as if my call was an inconvenience. When I asked which bread was the softest, he cut me off to say they were "super busy" and could only change the bread on one sandwich, not both. I asked again for clarification, and he continued sounding irritated and uninterested in helping. He repeated that they had a line of people and needed to know which one sandwich I wanted to change. For the amount I paid, the lack of basic courtesy and willingness to answer a straightforward question was unacceptable. This will be my last time ordering from Capo in Alexandria, VA.
