He came out to our home, tested our car, and found that the problem was the alternator, but that he would not be able to do the work on it because in our car the alternator was under the engine and the car would have to be put on a lift. I'm jealous of these other reviewers... I have not had a good experience with Scott from Mobile Tech. The first time I called, my car had died at a major intersection and I pushed it out of the way. It took 2 days to get a callback and Scott left me the message that he supposed I got my car moved by then. The next time I called, I knew what needed to be repaired, but I never got any callback. It's now been a week since I called Scott and he has yet to return my call. He HAS taken the time to write a message to tell me he doesn't like my review. He could have used that time to call me. While I understand that he might be busy with other customers, it would take less than 5 minutes to just acknowledge my call. It's now been a month since I called Mobile Tech and I've still not heard from him. While I have condolences for his loss, I called him 3 weeks before that happened. read more

Scott is the best! He is patient and explains things very well. I had a Chevy Silverado 3500 HD with an electrical problem that led to the truck not starting. He helped me diagnose the problem over the phone and I was able to go out and buy my own battery. He came and installed it and also showed me how a fuse was bad to the starter cable and I was able to buy that while he installed the battery. His price was very reasonable, and he is just a super nice guy and great to work with. I wish I had found him years ago as I love to learn about cars and he is happy to share his knowledge. My only wish is that I had called Scott first when my 1972 Porsche 914 broke down when driving home on 17. I wasted an afternoon and $100 on a so-called "Porsche mechanic" who came to check out my car and didn't lift a finger let alone fix the problem. I towed the car home and Scott came by today and literally in 5 minutes, fixed the issue. Scott went on to knock out a few more kinks in a very particular classic car (a Porsche no less!) and even charged me less than the time he spent here. Scott's hourly rate is 1/2 the average here and in the Bay Area, and I trust him completely working on and with my classic cars, not to mention he comes to YOU. I rarely give reviews, in fact I never do, but went out of my way to make SURE I gave Scott his due props for prompt, friendly, and exceptional service at a fraction of the cost had I taken it to a Porsche specialist elsewhere in the area. Regarding the two one-star reviews - note that they didn't actually solicit Scott's services, rather they simply reached out when he was dealing with personal business. I raise this as being unfair and Yelp really should remove them because how can you review someone if you never actually engaged the business to begin with?! Dismiss those reviews because Scott's service is 5-stars and those posts are without merit. read more

Had a couple issues with my old BMW a while back and Scott was MORE than helpful. We went for a test drive and he helped me solve the first issue (bad driveshaft) by confirming my diagnosis (I'm an avid DIY'er) and thanked me for the fun ride. For the second issue, neither of us was able to remove the rusted, frozen brake lines so we left the old ones in place instead of damaging them. Scott was amazing for anyone in need of some engine repairs or basically any vehicle diagnostic . Scott was was very professional , knowledgeable and accommodating .He was quick to reply after leaving my info in the late evening (8:00pm on a Sunday ! ). I was stranded at the Best Western hotel in Scott's Valley with a dead Alternator and after being told by ALL 8 Auto repair shops in the area that they could get to it 2-3 days out , I luckily found The owner of Mobile Mech 'Scott' and after explaining I was stranded away from home and desperate to get back , he reassured me he would be there with in 20 min and do whatever it took to make that happen , and that's exactly what he did . Arriving promptly with all Necessary tools and a smart phone to quickly reference diagrams of my vehicles serpentine belt / pulleys from the internet , he had me out of the freezing nights rain and on my way home in 15-20 min . Scott also went the extra mile to replace a steering pump gasket that he diagnosed to be faulty after simply hearing it's compromised strain . Pricing was fair and well below what it would have cost me to have it towed to a shop and fixed there. Had a great experience and would recommend him if you need something fixed and the car won't move. He even spent the time answering other car questions while doing the repair, and fixed another small issue with belts squeaking without any additional cost.
