I cannot say enough about this business. I had been having electrical issues (battery light coming on while driving) with my 2007 Corolla, and replaced the battery at a local O'Reilly. They checked the capacity of the alternator at that time, and it was fine. A week or two later, the battery light came back on while driving. I took it to the closest O'Reilly, they checked the alternator and discovered the voltage regulator failed, so I purchased the recommended alternator, and drove home. I was referred to Smiling Grille by a couple of neighbors, Dana showed up right on time yesterday afternoon, got to work, and quickly discovered that O'Reilly had given me the wrong alternator. He returned this morning, 30 minutes early, with the correct alternator, and his apprentice, a talented young woman who did the work in about 30 minutes, under his guidance. I was so impressed. I was only charged for the price of the alternator, and an hour of labor, and the total was at least half of what I would have paid had I taken it elsewhere. I will be contacting him the next time my car needs anything. read more

Classic 1993 Toyota 4X4 PU (even before they called it a Tacoma). A local well known garage in Felton did a clutch replacement and a normal maintenance oil change but forgot the thing about putting oil back in after they drained it. They wanted $8,000 to replace the engine they destroyed. Toyota wanted $10,000. Dana installed a guaranteed rebuilt 20R engine in my driveway for $6,000. And that included a tune up after break in. Had it for about three months now and it runs like new. And ... that included cleaning up the clutch job that the smucks in Felton left a mess. And, Dana is just a really nice guy. Part of this work was during the 2022 - 2023 winter storms. Gets the job done right, great price and does it with a smile. My trailer was two years old and never had the brakes or bearings serviced. Dana immediately found an issue with one side due to a grease seal that popped out and grease was everywhere. Dana replaced my timing belt on 2003 Tundra I just bought. He found the oil filter was leaking so he did an oil change for the cost of parts. He also replaced a corroded battery terminal for cost of parts. There are a few missing stud on my wheels that he has to return next week to take care of. Overall he did a great job. My car had a major coolant leak, under pressure the car would basically pee out all the coolant. I called another local mobile mechanic because of Dana's busy schedule. He came over to my place and changed the hose I thought the leak was coming from. After changing the small, hard to reach hose he pressure tested the car... it started peeing more coolant, (back to square one) told me the car was prone to the head gaskets blowing and told me I should take my car to either a reputable shop or dealer and charged me $$$ for an hour of work and proceeded to back up and leave... after about an hour of contemplating if I should list my car on Craigslist with a blown head gasket I decided to give Dana a call and relay this information over to him... he put his busy schedule on pause and visited me at my place the next day. Pressure tested my car and started laughing saying "it's the water pump dude!" Now I felt pretty stupid about not knowing it was just the pump but I was so relieved to know it wasn't the gasket as the leak appeared to be coming from the head. Took the car over to Dana's shop and he had my car back to me within 1.5 days (no more leak and the car runs great!! ) Not to mention he did the job for a very reasonable price, and saved me hundreds.
