This practice made a mistake on my puppy's vaccination. I chose the office based on the great reviews, so I feel obligated to share my experience. I brought my puppy here for her first checkup at 8 weeks old. The staff drew up a plan for vaccinations, and I followed it closely. At 9 months, I went to another vet (this office is closed on weekends), and that vet noticed that my pup only had one round of the lepto vaccine - which requires 2. The new vet said that given elapsed time, a second dose wouldn't work - it would require starting over. I called the office, assuming it was just a paperwork error. The staff member looked up records, and said, yes - my puppy didn't get the second dose as she should have. She then asked if I wanted to schedule that second dose. When I brought up that I believed that wasn't the correct course of action (that she would need both given the time between first and second), she acknowledged that was correct. (No follow up or explanation as to why they didn't provide the vaccine in the first place.) So - while the staff is very friendly and nice, in my experience they weren't careful to follow through and make sure my dog got the proper vaccines. When faced with the error, they recommended a course of action that would put my pup at risk. If you want a vet office that will give you peace of mind, and diligence in their approach, I would not choose Doctors Office for Pets. read more

Dr Bloomfield is amazing! He takes the time to get on the floor with your dog and make him/her feel at home and relaxed. An exam is more like a full body massage. Dr B is incredibly well educated and takes the time to discuss your dog's health and make sure you feel comfortable with and are an active participant in all decisions. We have three large dogs and needed health certificates for a last min flight. I called the Vet we used a few times and they told us they could do it but would charge for an emergency check up. When I found out it was more than double the reg check up I called around and Animal Outpatient they fit us in and charged us a small fee. It was more than half of the other vet. They gave us extra papers in case we lost any and told us to call them if we need anything for the flight. They were very nice and pleasant to work with. We switched vets and could not be happier. I starting going to the Doctor's Office for pets about 3 years ago when a good friend's dog bit my dog. They are my vet now and I will always go to them. Every single member of the staff is friendly and helpful and when I had to put my dog down, extremely compassionate I discovered. (the girls working that day tried to hide that they were crying too) Dr Kang walked me through all the options for my dog and took great care to follow up on his treatment. When initially taking both our dogs to Doctors Office for Pets about 5 years ago all routine stuff the dogs needed this vet seemed to be fine. This was both my Dogs primary Vet. In the last year we had 2 awful experiences with them and will never go back. One of our dogs got extremely sick (turned out to be spleen related) our other dog a elderly 14 yr old lab woke up one day body failing and in pain it was time to put him down. Hard to plan in advance for either of these situations. When I needed Doctors office for pets the most they told me they could see us in a week in both incidences. Why have a regular vet and be told to look elsewhere when your pets need to be seen? Thank you Sierra pet clinic for outstanding customer service and comfort when having to put our dog down on short notice and to our New vet Burton Creek for outstanding guidance, availability and petcare for our sick dog. It was my one year old pup's first day getting to play in the snow. I was visiting my parents and my dog and their dog were having a blast-until my dog ripped one of her nails pretty good. Minimal bleeding but I could see that the nail was hanging and at an angle, and my dog was not letting my near her paw. So I called Doctor's, and they made me an appt for that day. My experience from when I walked in to when we left was simply the best service. Someone immediately got my info at the front desk, and within minutes we were in an exam room with the vet, Gina. I felt like the staff listened to my concerns and my recount of the experience attentively. Gina discussed options and outcomes, and we decided on mild sedation so they could take care of my furchilds nail. When all was done, someone took the time to sit with me and go over the procedure that was done, and answer my questions. I never felt rushed at any time. My dog still wagged her tail with the staff when we were leaving, which I felt said a lot. If my dog is still happy to see people even after an unpleasant experience for her, then they have my complete trust and confidence in them. read more

Had an issue with our Lab puppy while up at Tahoe and was able to get a same day appointment. Very friendly staff and doctor. Not a long wait and very modern office. ended up coming back for a second visit for a different issue later in the week and both times the charges were very reasonable and diagnosis was right on and saved us from what some offices could have charged for unneeded services. We will now be bringing all three of our dogs to this office for our regular vet rather than our current vet in the Bay area since we are in Tahoe often. They got me in quickly, took prompt action that worked and the cost was very reasonable. The facility is easy to get to and clean.
