I can't review the dentist himself, since a critically important part of the work was not done by him, it was done by his technician (it's incredible how much they over-book, I rarely see the dentist). That certain part ruined the whole result, and I have to redo the work ! I can review his technician: she is incompetent, and with an obvious "I don't really care" attitude. Growing up in a family of doctors, I'm very critical of the care I receive. Dr. Nov is superb -- he's got remarkable technical skills and a comforting bedside (chair-side) manner. As a 10+ year patient I've also observed Dr. Nov's voracious appetite for knowledge. He's on a continual quest to learn and each time I sit in the chair he comes well versed in new techniques and options to make my experience and care optimal. I also constantly find it refreshing to have a doctor who's so focused on sharing knowledge with me in a way that educates instead of sells. It certainly doesn't hurt my visits to have internet access in the waiting room and a killer collection of movies to keep me occupied in the chair. Bottom line is that Dr. Nov's practice completely delivers on the total experience. It's a flawless operation that tends to every detail. Needless to say I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Nov (just as long as your becoming a patient doesn't make it difficult for me to get an appointment.) read more

I've never written a negative comment in my life, but I really feel I need to give potential patients a heads up. I've had a few of his crowns put in and all of them have had to be replaced. To make matters even worse, he wasn't sympathetic at all to my level of anxiety (bad experience in the past). I remember my jaws aching for several days after having work done. He would tell me to open wider. I always asked for a bite block, but was told it would get in the way. There is nothing worse than being in tears and having someone drill your teeth. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DENTIST! Right off the bat, he referred me to get root canal in two of my wisdom teeth and then crowned them. Within a year they both became severely infected to the the point of requiring surgery (at which time I switched to a wonderful dentist in Seattle). I had numerous dental infections while in his care. When I would ask about antibiotics, I was repeatedly told to talk to my primary about it. I was also told I had a grinding problem and TMJ. My experience with Dodi was horrifying! Let's put it this way, if I needed a tooth pulled and he was the last dentist on earth, I would get myself a pair of pliers. read more

DO NOT go to this dentist!!! I went to see him because I read great reviews about him but my experience was really bad. 1) He couldn't care less about me or my concerns. 2) The assistant took the very expensive X-Rays and he just look at them for 2 seconds and didn't even care to tell me anything about it or to set up a treatment outline and budget. 3) I explained to him that I had problems opening my mouth because of my TMJ disorder and he didn't care at all, on the contrary he keep telling me to open my mouth bigger. 4) The assistant had a large face the whole time. When I told her that I would need a mouth block to help me with my joint she even made faces at me. 5) VERY EXPENSIVE for what you get. The assistant was the one putting the crown and fitting it. 6) Charges I didn't understand. I was supposed to pay a certain amount and ended up paying more than receptionist told me. 7) Bad service. In a nutshell, it seems Dr. Nov is always in a rush and I feel like an assembly line appliance whose value is in the bills that will be sent out. The last time I tried to ask some questions, the way he answered made me feel like I'm intruding on his time. I'm on the lookout for a Dentist who cares and I feel welcome to clarify recommended procedures. Dentistry is very much like any other skilled trade. What makes a difference to me is in how you are treated initially and after your appointment. The rest of the time is just mouth time to me. I think that Dr. Nov is your standard dentist. The work that was performed on me was fine. I did find it interesting that when you get crown work, after your mouth has been open for an hour a dental assistant comes up to you and asks you if you want the crowns that have porcelain up to the ridges or if you want the ones that have a silver line. DUH! :D I could see how this would be a question better asked at the beginning of the appointment because it does involve more money. From what I can tell with my work, the metal inside is standard stainless *I didn't ask* but I later found out that other dentists use noble metals such as a gold mix which is supposedly healthier or makes a better bond or something. I would ask for that. So all in all, ok, no great shakes just ok. Seems rushed a bit with clientele. But I could see going back. read more

I totally agree what Mel Y. said, Dr. Nov recommend unnecesary surgery on your teeth and I asked my friends who recommend this doctor to me, they all have the same procedures recommended by him. How could all of us have all the same issue the same order/time????? and the filling he did on my teeth need to be refill every other year!!!! I wonder if he did that on purposely to make more money. I start asking my history file but they don't want to give me. The most alerting thing is my teeth doesn't improve at all after I did all his recommended surgery and filled pain all the time. And the staff made mistake on your bill all the time. They confuse you about the term and make you pay what you know your insurance suppose to cover and said it is different service. But when I made appointment, I clearly say I want the service covered by insurance. But they didn't admit that and charge you anyway. And if you called and they said they resolve the issue , don't quite believe them, you will be surpprised to get another bill saying the same charge several month later!!! I hate going to the dentist. I am happy to say that Dr. Dodi's staff was excellent and made me very comfortable given my anxiety around my visit. They gave me a movie to watch, the office was clean, they were very hospitable and warm and of course, they took me on time. I read some of these other reviews and can only say that I personally appreciate that they are strict on time because i don't have time to sit around and wait (working mother of 3) and if everyone else is late, then it messes up the overall schedule. I also like that he has early office hours and I can get in before work. Dodi is conservative with me in his approach and takes very good care of my kids too. I always snag a lip balm on my way out and the kids love it. read more

I've been Dr. Nov's patient for over 10 years. Back then I arrived from Russia and needed a lot of work done at first, including two crowns. I think I can say positively that I never had any pain after any kind of work that Dr. Nov did, that's how careful he is. Since all that was done, I hardly need any work at all, that's how good the hygienists are. The office staff is excellent, they have been there for years, too. A few friends go there with kids, and my understanding is that Dr. Nov is very good with kids. Oh, one other thing -- I think he is not the kind of doctor who will try to sell you services you don't need. E.g. in my case braces were not strictly required (I ended up deciding to do them on my own), and so Dr. Nov did not pressure me to do them. Etc. Highly recommended. read more

Dodi's great, as good as they get. He's attentive to your needs, and doesn't make you spend when it's not necessary. He uses the dam when doing procedures, which I don't like despite the safety component, and it can be hard to get on his schedule. He's a super Husky fan, and it's apparent in one of his exam rooms. I've been seeing Dr. Nov since 2006, about nine years now. They've taken great care of me on everything from routine cleanings to cavities and other problems. One thing I like about Dr. Nov and his staff is they are always updating to the latest technologies and techniques over the years, and cleanings feel very thorough and include steps that other dentists seem to skip. Dr. Nov has been my dentist for the past 4 years. Having grown up with a father who was a board certified dentist I have very high expectations for the dentist and office where I am getting treatment. I am relocating out of the northwest and the only reason that I am not continuing treatment with Dr. Nov is that there are no direct flights from Pittsburgh to Seattle. Dr. Nov is very professional and personable. He is very up to date with his treatments and equipment. I have never felt that he was pushing me into treatment that I did not need. I switched to Dr. Nov's office because my last dentist did just that. I have found the hygentists to be friendly, knowledgeable, and caring. The front office staff has been very accomodating, even fitting me in to get a needed filling on the last day before my insurance changed. I would like to address some of the issues that others reviewers have had. Scheduling: Dr. Nov's is a one dentist office and he is regarded by his peers and local media as a top dentist. With this type of popularity his office is in demand for patients limiting the availability of short-term scheduling. Costs: I believe that you get what you pay for. If you are looking for cheap dental costs don't expect great work. One on One time: Whenever I have had a routine cleaning I have not seen Dr. Nov for more than a couple minutes per visit nor do I expect to. A cleaning is an appointment with the hygentist. Anytime I had work outside of a cleaning, Dr. Nov was there and available to answer questions. After every visit I received an email from Dr. Nov to follow up. And if I needed to ask any questions at that point we carried the conversation on via email or on the phone. read more

I had 1500 in my dental insurance + 1000 in flexible spending that i had use before end of year else i would lose it all. I went to dr dodi nov and asked him to see and prioritize what needed to be done (root canals or bad cavities first). I had no pain. He did xrays and determined that i only needed several small fillings and that he would be able use the entire 2500 towards it. I was fine with this. His ofc gave me an initial estimate that was just about 2500..then i had several visits in which he completed my fillings. After they were done his ofc gave me a new estimate and said that it would only cost 2300...so i still had to use 200 in my flexible spending or lose the money. i confirmed this amount several times and finally they gave me a printout explaining how they would not bill the insurance and recommended i use the money elsewhere. I then used 200 towards a pair of glasses that i did not need. What was extremely bad was after my treatments started i had horrible pain in my left and right lower teeth. Dr dodi nov just told me to take pain killers and that it would go away. After a month when the pain did not go away i went back to his office and he said that the fillings may have been too deep and that i should see an endodontist for a root canal..when i went to the endodontist he took xrays again and said that there were atleast 3 root canals that were absolutely required and that dr dodi nov should have sent me his way before even trying to do the fillings as they were all too deep..i was shocked..To get rid of the pain i had to do 2 root canals. Also the final bill from dr novs office was over 2500 so i was not even able to reclaim the 200 they said that were avaialble for me to use elsewhere. I will never again go to Dr dodi nov again. read more
