I have been a few times to this practice and have had a mixed experience. . The first time I went I had to wait for 30 minutes to be seen. The receptionist at the time was not very welcoming. The dental assistant kept making small talk, but did not seem very interested in the responses. If you need an estimate you have to keep reminding them so the administrative staff could use some efficiency. The office itself seems quite dated. The positives are the convenient location and the ease of getting an appointment. The dentists seem honest and professional. read more

The dental assistant "Amanda" is very disrespectful and has a serious attitude problem. Please request your staff to create a friendly and hospitable environment for your patients. Every question and response was treated in a condescending manner by this rude and incompetent dental assistant. She deserves to be put on a probation. I understand that it could be unfair to blame the entire business for the mistakes of one employee. But I'd say that the business owners are also to blame for not screening and vetting their employees properly. The doctor was really sweet and understanding though. I won't be visiting this clinic again. I usually don't leave negative reviews and callout people by their names but this experience forced my hand. Only interested in money. Dr. Relan is extremely patient no doubt. But they quote false amounts wrt insurance. Can't they check before Sea Dental Care does a much better job. They quoted $460 initially (for root canal + crown), later said $675. Now before my crown they changed it to $800. Very bad. They just quote before the treatment. So we can't seek anywhere else. This was about as pleasant as a dental visit could be. I had a slight dental emergency and they were able to squeeze me in between other appointments. The check in process was efficient as it was done on an iPad. They seem to be pretty tech savvy. There is the option to receive email reminders, etc. I was especially impressed with Dr. Chien's professionalism and bedside manner (chair-side manner?). He took the time to explain what the diagnosis was, what my options were, and checked on me throughout my procedure to make sure I had no pain or discomfort. read more

I came to Dr. Relan with a mouthful issues. For the last 20 yrs I had neglected my teeth. Hadn't had a cleaning, and developed over a dozen cavities. What i appreciated most in my initial consultation was the professionalism of her entire staff. From the receptionist to the hygentist, to Dr. Relan herself, they made me feel welcome, not judged for my lack of attention to my oral health, and moved swiftly, yet thoroughly through all the uncomfortable stuff. By the end of my visit, the dental hygentist had already cleaned over half my teeth( split the cleaning process up into two visits to make me more comfortable), filled me in with important home care techniques, and the Dentist had explained to me in detail a plan to begin fixing my smile. I've been going here for a long time now. I started several years when Dr. Mehnaz used to run the place. I had originally read great reviews on Yelp and decided to visit. After several years now and so many changes - I am still happy with the service I get here. Sure, Dr. Mehnaz isn't around but Dr. Peter Chien is a very nice dentist. He is polite and knowledgeable and has great bedside manners. He does not push for any unnecessary procedures. As for my hygienist, there used to be this really awesome girl who cleaned my teeth. She was the best! Unfortunately she left soon after. I have a different hygienist who cleans my teeth now. He seems to be doing a decent job - although he doesn't spend as much time as she used to. Similarly, the girl (I am better at faces than names) at the front desk used to be great. But she left her job and I haven't seen anyone consistently ever since. I've read all the nice reviews here and I wonder if I'm the only one with a bad experience here (I hope so!). I went in for a cleaning + cavity fill, and while that was all good, it felt like I was rushed. On a whim, I decided to go to a different dentist for my next cleaning, and I was in for a word of surprise. Turns out Bellevue Family Dentistry never took the gum health measurements they were supposed to (ny new dentist was surprised that this could be possible, apparently it's the standard of care expected), neither did they check out the areas of concern my new dentist pointed out. I got a second opinion, and yup, I'm due for a ton of work that was never flagged in my first cleaning/exam at Bellevue Family Dentistry. Now I've got a month long series of appointments to deal with all this, but I'm sad the Dr.Chien and his team did not do pay attention to flag these issues and rushed me through. read more

The one lesson I've learned in life is to take care of your teeth (cause otherwise I cannot eat!). I'm so good about going to dentist twice a year too especially because i've had so many fillings in my past. So when I first moved to the Seattle land area (well, East Side actually), I asked around a ton to find a good dentist. Dr. Zamanian was recommended by a colleague. I decided just to give it a try because (1) it's relatively close to work (2) takes Microsoft health insurance (3) the recommender is well networked so I trust her (4) it'd been a while since I've seen a dentist. Dr. Zamanian is very professional. I like her for that (my previous dentist would gossip with the hygienist while looking at my teeth). She seemed confident and knowledgeable (of course this could just be behaviorial, but she made me believe she knew). She also allowed me to make my own decisions. For example, she asked whether or not I wanted to refill my older fillings (one was already chipped), so I didn't feel pressure to sign-up for more services.She said that she'd usually recommend a sonicare tooth brush, but my teeth seemed well maintained so she wasn't going to push me to change my habits. I like that she recommends the conservative approach. She did a good job of refilling my chipped filling. My last filling experience with my prior dentist was not so good in that it continued to bother me for a while. WIth Dr. Zamanian, my tooth felt fine afterwards. Though relatively not too painful, her injecting the anesthetic did hurt more than my prior dentist (but he was awesome at that). The one thing that i didn't like was their x-rays. It was extremely uncomfortable! I think it's the new technology, and I know it's not the fault of the practice, but this is the first time that taking x-rays of my teeth hurt! I already have another appointment booked later this year, so I'm definitely going back to Dr. Zamanian read more

Chip my front tooth on Tuesday night, called them on Wednesday morning 7:30am and they found me a spot! Sweet! Quote was about 100 more than at my usual dentist, but still reasonable for the Bellevue area. Dr Zamanian and Loc and Daniella were super friendly. Daniella made sure I was taken care of, had water etc. Loc was patient with me as I tried to figure out the costs etc since I don't have dental insurance. Overall, a great experience. (One small note: I had a scare that they might have to do my exam and X-ray Wednesday and the filling on Thursday bc of time restraint. However, they worked with me and got it all done. So try to be as descriptive as you can when you phone in your appointment I guess). I don't like seeing a dentist, but if I have to, this is not a bad spot. A+. read more

The did a teeth whitening for me and did an incredible job, provided me with all the take home materials, and took excellent care of me. And since being in a dentists chair means that you aren't going to get much in on the conversation other than "MRRHMMMRMMRMRMMRM", it helps that Zamanian is a very interesting person with a lot to say. She's incredibly caring (wants to understand if you've had any dental issues or fears in the past), thorough, professional, efficient, and funny. What a combination. I just moved to Seattle a few months ago and hadn't lined up a new dentist here. Truth be told, I hadn't been to the dentist in (GASP) 10 years. No fooling. Shameful terrible stuff. No surprise, when I was eating microwave popcorn last week, part of one of my back teeth broke off. For reals! I had a cavernous gap in my tooth where tooth should have been. Long story short, Dr. Zamanian squeezed me in the next day -- to check things out and put in a temporary fix. This, in spite of the fact that she wasn't taking patients that day. Not only did she make an exception to help me out in an emergency but she didn't even have a prior relationship with me. Amazing, generous spirit. Anyway, the temporary measure held great and she made room for me to replace that with a complete fix at the beginning of this week. I went in, she anesthetized me, checked as to whether a root canal was necessary, and filled the cavity -- all within about 40 minutes and in flawless form. I highly recommend Dr. Zamanian and her professional, warm, friendly staff as well. I have like most never liked or appreciated going to the dentist. Avoiding it until you get that nagging sensation of responsibility to your self to go, you finally make that dreading appointment. However this one visit was significantly different and has hence forth changed my mind about the dental industry. Not only was the reception staff incredibly friendly and accommodating and the office clean and lacked that sterol teeth wrenching atmosphere we have all come accustom to. But this dentist office was more like walking into a family business than just some office you found off of google with hit or miss experience. Dr Chien was professional and very nice and ran a office similar to running a ship. Very organized and structured but still with a friendly. One person I have mention above the rest though is there dental hygienist (if that's even his title) the reason for my review, Kevin was very informative, funny and made me feel at ease cry quickly. It may have been something in the air but it was his quick and professional service along with his quick wit and humor that stood out. He made the whole experience so much more worth it that I actually am looking forward to my next visit. If you can even believe it. I've been going to Dr. Chien at Bellevue Family Dentistry for about a year and a half, ever since moving up to Bellevue from Orange County to work at Microsoft. During this time, I've had a few cleanings and a crown put in. Some things I love about this place: Dr. Chien is a true professional a very personable guy. The dental assistants and hygienist I've worked with, Daniela, Amanda, and Kevin, are also all great at what they do, really friendly, and fun to talk to. I had a cavity get bad enough that I needed a root canal. I was in bad enough pain that I had to leave work for the day, so I called Dr. Chien and he had my local pharmacist fill an order for painkillers within half an hour. No long waiting room stays - I've never waited for more than 3-5 minutes before seeing an assistant or hygienist. Appointments are as fast or slow as they need to be. I don't feel rushed, but I know that I won't waste time waiting around, so I can get back to work or make it to dinner on time. It's easy to schedule appointments, and the office texts and emails you reminders and rescheduling options as your next appointment is coming up. The services are very affordable, and Dr. Chien doesn't push any unnecessary procedures despite having a clientele flush with premium dental coverage. Overall, my experience at Bellevue Family Dentistry has been excellent. I highly recommend Dr. Chien and the many great team members you'll get to work with. read more

Great dentistry! Friendly and well educated staff all across the board. Front desk made sure I have everything in place prior to coming to the appointment, which I really appreciate because I don't like waiting and doing paperwork in the office. Dental assistant got me all ready to go, got my x-rays done, let me know what to expect. And the doctor took his time to explain my current condition, what needs to be done and what at-home care is best for me. All in all really liked the efficiency, atmosphere, staff. So fair warning: know your insurance, and don't accept it when the person at the front desk tells you they're good at working with insurance companies. My insurance has always been alright, and I usually leave the dentist's office paying a $35 co-pay and maybe $50 more if I got some fillings. I left this office owing them close to $250. They lowered the price to $200 after I asked them about it, but that is still crazy, especially since I was told that in their experience I might owe $20 or $30 after my co-pay. I think they were surprised, too, but I still have to pay the outrageous bill. In addition, the x-rays were the most painful I've ever experienced. I'm not usually a whiner, but I was tearing up toward the end. The tech had to keep re-doing the images, which only made the plates cut into my mouth more. I much preferred the hygienist's scraping and the later drilling, neither of which made me cry. I know some people would have been out of that chair halfway through the x-ray series. I would tell them beforehand if you have any fear or anxiety issues with dentists/dental work. Maybe they would be more careful. That said, their hygienist is great and didn't make me feel too bad for not flossing as much as I should. The doctor did an excellent job on my fillings. I won't be back because of the cost, but if that isn't an issue for you or if they're better with your insurance company, you might want to give them a try. read more

I believe this place only has good reviews because of a previous doctor that used to work here, Dr.Z, who no longer does. The receptionist is also really rude and unprofessional. I ended up at Bellevue Family Dentistry because the location was convenient and they were preferred providers for my insurance. It's a small boutique-type office, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Dr. Zamanian was wonderful. She was patient with me (I have some dental phobias), and she took the time to listen to my concerns and explain in detail how she could help me. My new veneers are beautiful. Although going to the dentist is still not high on my list of fun things to do, this whole experience was positive. So positive, that i wanted to share it with others. Based on recommendations from the an internal Microsoft email list for new college hires, I scheduled an appointment at Bellevue Family Dentistry. That was two years ago, and I have been very happy with my experiences at Bellevue Family Dentistry. I really like their email/text appointment reminder and confirmation system, and I've never had a problem with long wait times before my appointments. I have had both Kevin as my dental hygienist and Daniela as my dental assistant, and they are always extremely friendly, attentive to my needs, and work meticulously whenever they clean my teeth. Dr. Chien is great as well: offers good tips for brushing/general hygiene without being preachy, and always makes a point of ensuring that any questions or concerns I have are answered, no matter how small. No complaints, would definitely recommend Bellevue Family Dentistry. read more

I went to Dr. Zamanian for the first time the other day because I am new to the Bellevue area. I think they saw me, and put a mark on me. My insurance covered the bill 100%, however they overcharged my insurance company. I am not a friend of insurance companies, but I do have a yearly limit i.e. they unnecessarily cut into my yearly limit possibly costing me $200 in the future (they over charged me by $200). Paying this high of a premium would not be a problem if the service matched the price. The dentist office is located in a low cost area and the work itself was not well done. Not only that, they offered to do surgery on my first visit. These people are all about profit, and I would never recommend them to anyone in my family. read more

Dr. Zamanian does very thorough examinations in addition to the normal cleaning/checkups. I have never had a dentist before (and I have lived up and down the west coast) who checked the gum line for oral cancer and other problems. In my case, she saw that an infection in a root canal was progressing. Had she not performed this additional check, the problem would have gone unnoticed and untreated and possibly affect the adjacent teeth. I am now getting this treated by a specialist. I found Bellevue Family Dentistry on yelp and decided to make an appointment with Dr. Zamanian. The reviews were great so i was hoping for a great experience with great results. I have very difficult teeth. Thanks to genetics and living in country where there was a serious lack of fluoride in our watter supply, u can only imagine the problems i have had with my teeth. Everybody in the office was super friendly and amazing. Lock helped me with all the financial paperwork. She explained everything very clearly and was very friendly through all my questions about my insurance. Yalda and Brenda were amazing as well. Very friendly,answered all my questions and made me fell super comfortable through all the procedures. Even though i was reffered to a specialist after my tooth didnt want to cooperate ( my teeth are famous for that) Dr. Zamanian explained exactly what was going on and made me an appointment with the specialist accordingly. Kudos to Dr. Zamanian and being honest and proffesional about my situation. She defenetelly treated me like a friend or family. Gave me great advice and now my root canal is done, the crown is set and i didnt have to give her my arm and a leg for a fantastic dental work well done. I rate this fine establishment 5 stars.
