Dodo's was such a fun surprise and honestly one of the more unique date night spots we've tried lately in Spokane Valley. The space itself feels modern and cozy without trying too hard dark moody interior, creative cocktails, and elevated comfort food that actually tastes as good as it looks. We started with the Caffee Salato, which is probably one of the most interesting cocktails I've tried in a long time. The idea of parmesan in an espresso martini sounded completely bizarre at first, but somehow it worked. The parmesan wasn't overpowering or "cheesy" tasting. It slowly melted into the espresso and by the end it almost gave salted caramel/tiramisu vibes. Definitely one of those drinks people will either be curious or skeptical about, but it ended up being memorable in the best way. The crispy cauliflower was one of the standout dishes for me. Sweet, sticky, crunchy, savory just a really addictive plate overall. The sweet potatoes were also incredible and felt very elevated without being overly complicated. The miso butter and hot honey combination worked perfectly together. The beets dish was beautiful visually and tasted fresh, bright, and balanced with the citrus, pistachio, and creamy elements. You can tell a lot of thought went into the plating here because every dish that came to the table looked intentional. We also tried the double cheeseburger and stroganoff. The burger was rich, messy, and flavorful in the best way possible with crispy edges on the patties and a soft bun. The stroganoff was creamy, comforting, and absolutely covered in parmesan. Another thing worth mentioning is that they also have a patio for warmer weather season and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-1pm, which already makes me want to come back and try more of the menu. Overall this feels like one of those hidden gem foodie spots that works really well for date night, cocktails with friends, or trying something a little different from the usual Spokane dinner rotation. read more

Do not stay past your welcome! This restaurant holds a very firm one-and-a-half-hour reservation time slot only. I treated my clients to a lovely dinner, and overall, the experience started out wonderfully. Service was fantastic, the food was amazing, the drinks were on point, and the conversation was great. At the end of our meal, we were sitting, enjoying our time together, finishing drinks and conversation, when the hostess kindly came over and let us know our time was up. Apparently, there was a foursome waiting for our table and we were expected to leave. I wasn't even done with my drink yet. With a $300 tab (including tip), I expected a bit more grace in how the situation was handled. I continued to chat and finish my drink, but shortly after, the hostess returned and asked if she could clear the dishes--which was fine--but then gave a look that clearly signaled we should be leaving immediately. I let her know I would be finishing my drink before leaving. While the restaurant absolutely earns high marks for food and service, I would give it four stars due to how this situation was handled. Being told to leave while still actively finishing a drink--especially one that cost $15--felt disrespectful. There are definitely better, more gracious ways to usher guests out when their time is up. The restaurant is quite loud, but that's to be expected in such a small space. Cool vibes and delicious food. Very unusual pairings of ingredients but tasted great. We had bbq chicken on top Alfredo bucatini noodles. I would never think of pairing that but it was delicious. Wife and I dropped in For an early dinner and give Dodo's a try. We seen how busy the place has been and read about the chef and the reviews so our expectations were high. We ordered the Dodoboggie for our starter and the Rigatoni and the crab pesto pasta dishes. The starter dish was a let down. Was burnt on the bottom of the bread and lacked over all flavor. The Crab Pesto pasta dish was the better of the dishes we had but the pasta must of been broken into small pieces before cooked. Weird. The Rigatoni was sitting in a bunch of oil. The only flavor that stood out was the Italian sausage and nothing else, disappointing! Tried it and wasn't all that great. Sorry. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant but pretty disappointed overall. While the calamari was delicious, the entree sizes were very small considering the prices. My husband wasn't impressed with the cubano. Not to mention we were absolutely swarmed with flies. Two appetizers, two entrees and a very small, overpriced mocktail put us at $100 tab. While swatting away flies the entire meal.. not worth it. I can't imagine what the kitchen looked like if the dining area was as swarmed with flies as it was. Our server was nice but we asked about the flies and were told they left the door open at brunch so flies came in and they were looking into electric fly swatters... First let me say, the food here was excellent! We started with the beets appetizer, which was super light, bright, and refreshing. Loved the brightness of the oranges with the earthy beetroot. Our entrees were equally as good - the stroganoff is made with short rib, so it was very tender and flavorful. The sauce wasn't overly heavy like some stroganoff's can be - it was just right. The variety of mushrooms in the dish was also nice. My partner had the chicken, he said it was quite good but could have used a touch more salt/spices. The capers and olives added some life to the dish, but some more greenery/vegetables could have rounded it out a bit. Our drinks were tart and tangy from the hibiscus, but paired with the coconut cold foam it was just right - if you like cranberry or tart cherry, I think you would like this for sure! The servers were also very kind and the dinner service was quick. I did take a star off for a couple key things. To start with, they don't have a very good waiting area. You enter and have to stand directly in front of the doorway, so other folks coming in or going out get crowded. Second, they have no noise cancelling foam boards on the walls, and it's an open concept spot so it is very, very loud. My voice is a little hoarse after conversing and having to speak at a loud volume. Third, and related to the noise, the tables are super close together. I could hear all the details of both tables on either side of us. You almost touched elbows with them, barely had space for even a coat between you. And I'm a petite gal, so that's saying something! I know it's a small spot and they're trying to max their tables, but it was a bit claustrophobic. Lastly, they do not allow for any substitutions on the menu. In today's day and age where so many folks have special dietary needs or lifestyles, it's an odd choice to disallow substitutions. Their prices seemed fair for the quality of what they served - it's not the cheapest spot, but it's definitely more upscale food than some American New places I've been to in the area. read more

Give it a try; new restaurants are always so busy. I normally don't go to new openings this soon cuz they're still working things out, but my brother wanted to try it (it was in his neck of the woods, not ours, but we made the drive from south hill). Might wait until outside seating is available. Our food was good and we were served promptly; however, very small, crowded, loud space ( we were in restaurant, not bar). Caesar salad was large and perfect, sharable for sure. Flat bread isn't really flat, but resembled a pizza, and tasty. Chicken dish ample and tasty (no sides, lots of cheese and arugula). My husband and I went to Dodos in March with some friends. Had a great dinner and great time. Went there yesterday May 22,2026, to celebrate a friend's birthday. Got there at 3:30 pm. Parking lot was empty but thought we were early. Went to the door and it was locked. Place was dark. A couple of other cars pulled up and we talked. I even called the phone number and got their message. There was not a note on the door, there was nothing on their message, there was nothing on their website stating they were closed and when they would be back. This was very disappointing. Does this mean they are going out of business? That does not make sense as they always seem so busy. They do have great food but not sure I will ever be back. We finally tried Dodo's tonight after driving past it a million times on our way home. The only thing I'm disappointed about is that we waited so long to try it!!!! The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Double Cheeseburger and the Chicken Milanese which was so decadent. The service was outstanding! We were seated quickly at the bar and Hallie was so cool. She took great care of us. We decided to walk in on a Tuesday night to see if we were able to get a seat - luckily the timing was perfect as several tables were finishing up. We were quickly greeted and had our table in less than 5 minutes. The atmosphere is very upbeat, and smell was outstanding. We had the beets as an appetizer which were wonderful - I had the scallops (perfect and the sauce was amazing), my wife had the stroganoff (also great). This may have been the best meal I have ever eaten in my life. Seriously. if I were ever on death row, and I get my last meal, I want the scallops from Dodos. The food itself was quite good and thoughtfully prepared. Unfortunately, the atmosphere overshadowed what could have been an enjoyable meal. The tables were extremely close together--so much so that we were nearly brushing arms with guests on both sides, and I had to physically move the table to stand up and leave. The proximity created a shared dining experience where conversations blended together, making privacy nearly impossible. The acoustics added to the challenge. Noise from the very loud bar spilled heavily into the dining area, creating a party-like environment that felt at odds with the more upscale restaurant setting. The combination felt conflicting and made it difficult to hear our own conversation. Staff was young and inexperienced. Our server was pleasant enough, however, we had to make multiple requests for things requested..... like lemon for our water and extra plates as we were sharing dishes. My friend and I had planned this dinner as an opportunity to catch up, but the extremely close neighbors, volume, and acoustics prevented meaningful conversation. We repeatedly had to apologize for not being able to hear each other and ultimately decided to save most of our conversation for after we left. While the food was tasty, the overall atmosphere significantly detracted from the experience. During the entire experience, the neighbors on the left and right side of us kept commenting on how awkwardly close we were all sitting, has it felt like communal dining. I hope this is something the restaurant considers, as the quality of the food deserves a setting that allows guests to truly enjoy it read more

Wife and I stopped in 6 o'clock on a Friday night. Very busy so expect a wait. Couple seats were open in the bar. We don't drink, but that was OK. We had Lumpia and the double burger To share. My wife shared with me " the burger was very good and all it had was cheese onion and pickles". Came with fries but the staff looked like deer in the headlights when we asked for mustard or ketchup. The fries did not need it but we do like condiments. The staff were attentive and answered questions. With any new business there will be bumps. The vibe in there was really cool and the service was so great and accommodating- they were able to make a table for us with our baby and our waitress was so kind and personable. The food was incredible. We ordered the lumpia, the sweet potato, the dodobaba, and wings starters and had that for dinner and I have nothing bad to say about any of it. So delicious! To say that Spokane Valley has been in need of this kind of food (and the atmosphere that comes with it) is a massive understatement! We've been twice and not a day has gone by since that I don't obsessively think about what I want to try next. We've had the Stroganoff, Scallops, Chicken Fried Pork Chop, Free-Range Roasted Chicken, Lumpia, Crispy Cauliflower, Clam Chowder Pot Pie, Cesar Salad, and the Chicken Wings (we got these both times). We talked to Chef Joe briefly about a few of the things he has in mind for the future and oh my goodness, I literally can not wait! There is nothing like you here (fresh, made from scratch, quality ingredients made into magical masterpieces) and we're so glad to have you. Loved the simple, yet funky, atmosphere of this place. We ordered the wings as an appetizer and they were pretty good overall. Crispy and tender. The sauce was very soy saucy. Our entrees were the fried pork chop (heavily breaded) and the short rib stroganoff. I didn't care for the already shredded short ribs. Gave it a weird texture. Flavor was good though. Very disappointed from the start with poor parking in small dirt lots. Once inside found the seating congested and cold being seated near the door. The food was tasty but the presentation was a disaster. My chicken Milanese was covered in arugula so I had to dig through to reach the chicken. I would have ordered a salad if I wanted that much. Very noisy and had trouble hearing the waitress. Poor service in general. Overpriced for the entree portions. Better to order multiple starters. Not going back anytime soon. read more
