When my fiancee decided to take me out for a Birthday celebration she asked me to choose since im a foodie. Since I had heard about Doe's and their great steaks we made reservations for 745. Upon arriving at the restaurant at 730 a few minutes early I noticed there was no hostess, a waitress was busy at the register trying to close out and seemed to be having issues no biggie. While my fiancee proceeded to the bar I finally get the waitresses attention and notify her that we have arrived and are gonna wait at the bar for our table. After sitting at the bar for over 1 hour and enjoying our drinks and apps I kindly ask where is our table, they ask if I want a table or booth and I ask for a booth. As we walk into the small dining area I couldnt help but notice its half empty with a large party sitting in the middle of the restaurant, again no biggie. Our waiter David arrived and I mentioned about our long wait and he said something about people arriving with no reservations. We inquire about the menu and order our food. My fiancee ordered the Filet with twice baked potato and I order the Cowboy ribeye with mushrooms and sauteed onions. The mushrooms were fresh and tasty but the onion was basically a quarter of a Vidalia onion sliced into 1 inch slithers and sateed in worstershire sause. My partners Filet was cooked perfectly but my Cowboy ribeye was basically unrecognizable as such. Now first I must note that I am a Pitmaster and I know my cuts of meat even build and modify smokers. What I ordered was a Cowboy and for those of you who don't know that's a center cut bone in Ribeye. When my steak came it was swimming in a thick dark worstishury sauce, now if you know anything about steaks a perfectly seasoned steak swimming nin its own juices with very little done to it is a good thing. I cook Choice grade or better meats and the meat I was served didnt even come close, full of gristle and inedible pieces that filled my app plate. When the desserts arrive I tell them to box them up cause we had been lingering there for 2 1/2 hours and we had other celebration plans. At this time the manager comes over to check on us and flops his butt down in our booth like he's lounging on his living room couch. Seriously!!!! I then forget all about my steak and proceed to tell him about our hour wait for our reserved tsble at the bar while walk ins and Marqaritaville employees get preferential treatment. His reply was " oh I thought y'all were enjoying yourselves at thr bar" um no, we were having drinks for over an hour while waiting for a table that we reserved! He then wonders off without offering an excuse or apology. If your looking to celebrate a special occasion with great ambiance, great steaks and stellar service then go to Morton's next door or Ruth's Chris at the Hard Rock but avoid this place like the plague!!!! To this restaurant chain, (a) get a hostess! cause you obviously dont know anything about reservations or seating people and (b) your manager needs a manager!!! read more

Located in the Margaritaville Resort in Biloxi, Does Eat Place is a fantastic steakhouse. Don't be surprised if tweens with mom & dads credit card are seated next to you ordering chicken fingers as this is a very kid friendly hotel. However, the food/service at Does is worth it. Ask for a booth so you're not in the middle of the small-ish dining room and it provides some privacy. We split the Filet and it was plenty of food. The entree came with steak fries and we ordered mushrooms and also split a house salad. This is not a bar/grill and its not a Ruth Chris' either. Its a laid back restaurant with expensive steaks. I had the most delicious, tender, flavorful filet mignon I've ever eaten! They are having a special for two, their "date night" special, through winter where you each get the filet, a side dish each, a salad each, share an appetizer, and a dessert to share. Very reasonable price! The twice baked potato and Mississippi mud pie are to die for! The special is Sunday through Thursday. Don't miss it. We've gone a few times and won't be wasting our money there anymore. Prices are almost Morton's high with an Applebee's ambiance. Servers are in jeans and tees, and the food lacks any presentation. The entree menu is extremely limited as well. The steaks are great, and the tamales, but that's about it. I ordered fish on one occasion, and for $36 got a huge plate with a slab of fish and nothing else on it. No garnish, nothing. It was also a very basic preparation; not worth $36!!! What sticks in my mind the most, however, is the water from the tap tastes like toilet water. You can't drink it! This has been the case at each of our visits. When paying $50 for a steak and $36 for a piece of bare fish, you don't really feel like throwing down for bottled water, too. For these prices they could add a filter to their tap to at least try and get the horrible taste to a reasonable level. The lighting is too bright, floors too bare to absorb noise, music is tacky, food selection is limited with marginal quality, and the service is entirely too casual to be charging the kinds of prices they do. We will not be returning as they seem to be firing on 1 cylinder and it doesn't seem salvageable. It's also virtually empty each time we've gone, which I'm guessing means everyone else feels it's off, too. read more

Am staying at the Margaritaville Hotel in Biloxi and heard that this restaurant was "high end" for steaks and other items. Reviewed the menu and thought I'd give it a try. Went in sat at the bar where Stacy was the bartender. She's great! This review is not about her. Anyway, being as this is supposed to be a good steak location and the prices adhere to that concept I'd expected to get a good bottle of wine to pair with a great steak! Well.....not happening. Their selection consisted of plastic bottle wine, some swill they consider a house wine "39 line" or something like that, and a very lackluster selection of whites. THE "Best" they had was standard Quill Cab out of Napa and standard Charles Krug Merlot out of Napa. Both low-mid end wines at $68 per bottle. If I'm going to pay $50-$80 for a steak, I want a selection of may Silver Oak Cab (Napa, not Alexander Valley), Caymus, Duckhorn, Stags Leap, etc.....all well known wines that would sell at a place selling $75 steaks. On top of this, their wine glasses belong in a Chili's! Tiny, port like glasses. Crazy. Lastly, I did order the grilled shrimp while sipping my swill wine, and they were the tiniest shrimp you could and weren't local (6 for $14) and 2 pieces of bread. Needless to say, I wasn't interested in wasting anymore $ at this establishment so I went to BR Prime at the Beau Rivage and had a nice steak and lobster dinner w/Stags Leap SLV....dinner and wine $400 was well worth it! We had a great experience as usual at Doe's. I am a steak person, eat steak at least twice a week. I normally buy racks to cut and marinade myself at the house to have ready for the grill whenever we are ready. I like the more natural flavored aged steaks, and Doe's has just that. 2.5lb ribeye wasn't to fatty and was cooked just rite. The tamales with chili were very good. Angry shrimp are on the spicy side, but I like spicy foods so they were perfect for me. Nice prompt service. We will be back for sure. read more

My husband and I went on date night. Had the fillet and it is the best on the coast. Seasoned well and cooked perfect for me. Salad was fresh fried shrimp and sautéed mushroom are good. Would highly recommend it. Service is also excellent. read more

Not impressed. The sweet tea my mom ordered tasted sour. We all tried the sweet tea to make sure we weren't mistaken and all 5 of us at the table thought it tasted horrible. (C'mon now sweet tea.. really??) The salad tasted like someone squeezed a lemon on it for the dressing. My brother ordered gumbo and it was luke warm.. The service was ok. The steak on the other hand was phenomenal. The atmosphere was ok. A lot of kids acting up and having a good time in a somewhat fine dining restaurant. Best steak ive ever got at a restaurant. We had the 2lb ribeye cooked medium well and it came out perfectly cooked and almost fall apart tender. The juices that are used in the cooking process are poured over the steak before its served, and in my opinion is what makes the steak so great. At $46 it sounds high for 1 steak but its enough to feed 2 people. If you like good steak this is the place for you.... read more

Great food! Had the cowboy ribeye and chili cheese tamales and both were excellent. The peanut butter pie for dessert was great too!!!!

Overall a disappointing experience. The restaurant is a far cry from the down home original in Greenville. The decor is hip and overall really pretty with a nice atmosphere. The service was not great. We got salad and appetizer at the exact same time and were seated at a tiny table that really didn't have room to accommodate all those plates. (Side note: whoever designed the hip decor clearly did not take into account that this is a steakhouse mostly famous for serving 2+ pound pieces of meat. The tables are better suited for a tapas bar.) the tamales had a good flavor but we're very very dry. The salad was a little flavorless except for the garlic which was a little overpowering. The steak came out just a few minutes after the app and salad so we had no room and really were not ready for the entree at that time. They took it back and brought it right back without notifying a manager that there was a problem. We had to get all the plates pre bused to make room and then got the steak which we had ordered medium rare. It was rare, not medium rare but it was delicious. No one ever checked or asked if the steak was cooked properly or if we needed anything. My wife had to go to the bar to get her own drink (refill on Coke which she had requested when the steak was delivered). The manager saw her and said nothing. Once the manager finally came to our table he admitted the steak was undercooked then completely blamed the server. His explanation was that he would rather a steak come out underdone than overdone. His point was that an underdone steak could be brought up to temperature but an overdone steak was just waste. I was appalled and said that I would think a restaurant with a renowned steak would want it to come out perfect. Also, refiring a steak makes it tough for those of you who may not know. The server was clearly not the best I ever encountered but she was sweet and appeared to be genuinely trying to handle her tables. The manager was completely inappropriate and even went so far as to say that the server was still in training on probation and probably wouldn't make it. I think there is potential for this franchise. They need a little more time to really perfect the recipes and they need a new manager. read more

Service was just sad, slow and lacking. The atmosphere was "blank," depressing. I ordered the hot tamales, the "meat" was almost nonexistent (generously I can the meat was 1/8 of a tamale). My husband ordered a steak, had to be sent back to be cooked more. He ordered medium and got rare. At most, he ate 6 bites of the steak when it finally returned to the table. I contacted the corp office, via email thru their website, two weeks later still not a word. Basically any and all aspects of this meal was disappointing, and clearly we will not be back. read more

Tamales were pretty gross and the drinks were watered down. I guess the drinks being watered down might actually be a good thing because the Tamales were way too salty. A large amount of ice was also added to the already watered down 9 dollar Hurricane to top it off. Soooo....came thru Biloxi on a road trip. Chose Margaritaville Resort for the "deal" of a great room & a $50 voucher for their Top Steak house. This was the worst steak experience I've Ever had. This is Not better than Ruth's Chris!!! There was ONE (yes 1) other table of diners when we got there. 7:15 pm. A scruffy looking guy in baggy pants, untucked scruffy shirt & a sloppy baseball cap sat us. Thought that was strange. (Later found out he was the owner of the restaurant?!?!) Service was just ok. We got the date night special for $60 with our $50 voucher. First thing the waitress did, told us what desserts they DIDN'T have for our nice date night dinner. All sold out! Seriously? Ordered our filets medium rare as a good steak Should be. It came back medium Well. The potatoes were still raw & cool, and waitress didn't show back up to inquire about our meal until we were about half done. (Remember, 1 other table) The "owner" kept trying to tell us how great the last 3 nights were. Well, what about tonight?! I would Never go back there. Beware! read more
