What a great evening. Sat outside and watched the sun set with a signature margarita. Our server Brooke made the evening even better. The crab salad - wow! Hubby had shrimp scampi and I had grilled shrimp. So good. Just waiting on our fried key lime pie.

This is a great restaurant. Honestly a bit of nostalgia. Have not been here in years. Remember going to the old restaurant that was further north down the road. I know that was a long time ago. I am so glad they had this new restaurant. So much bigger and located where we use to have our boat. So much has changed for the better. It is way bigger place than the old one. They have cleared out a lot of area that surrounds it. If you saw it before you would not believe the difference. This place has plenty of parking. They have no only the front for regular parking. If you require more convenient parking and access. Recommend parking on the eastern side. Plenty of parking and access ramp. They also have an outdoor patio area and seating on the first floor when weather permits and open. Otherwise, they offer stairs to the front of their restaurant on the upper deck. You are welcome to hostess table in the lobby or front depending. They offer a full bar on the left. (Drink responsibly) They offer an outdoor patio and live music from time to time. Definitely recommend seating outside whether it is on the bottom floor or outside patio. When the weather permits. They staff is so friendly and welcoming. At time we went, they asked we are free to sit anywhere you like. We opted for a booth seating. The regular table seats are hard wood seat with no padding. They also offer booth seating on the outer edge. They are padded both back and bottom. Both are very comfortable to sit in. Do not recommend sitting in them for long. In my opinion. As soon as we sat down, I believe her name was Christina. She was amazing. She made sure our brief stay was great! Usually I get a sweet tea. But Christina was so convincing to get something else. Started out with an ice water and pina coloda frozen daiquiri. Got an ice water and sweet tea also. She quickly came back with our drinks and mentioned that he will be back with the daiquiri soon. She asked if we would like to start with an appetizer. She recommended the jalapeños and mentioned that it is not spicy but has a little kick since it is a pepper. She mentioned they remove the seeds that make it spicy. We opted to get it since she made so appealing. She also asked what else we wanted to get. She mentioned that they have a special offer for fresh boiled crawfish. How could we say no to crawfish! We ordered an order of crawfish. Got an order of hamburger steak and side of fries. She asked if crabmeat salad or regular salad? Decided to get a regular salad instead. Had to get an order of oyster sampler. Love the variety of flavors they offer. And of course round out with a fried key lime pie for dessert. Apparently they have gained a wonderful reputation for their key lime pie. Both fresh regular and fried pie. She we had to get one! After a little wait. She started to bring out the good stuff. Slowly started bringing out salad and the appetizer. The smell was so amazing! Shortly afterwards. The main course, came available. They were all hot and fresh! We had to give some time for the crawfish and oysters to cool down. In the end, it was so delicious. Christina was so funny! Hope y'all have room for dessert? She also mentioned that they are well known for their key lime pie. I am so glad we ordered it. To experience the best. Many places use regular crust. In this case, they use a very flavorful gram-cracker crust. They only offer military discount for active duty only. They offer free Wi-Fi but is password protected. This place never disappoints. Whether it was the old one or the new restaurant. Make this part of your dining experience if in the area.

Fried green tomatoes - They're under those amazing shrimp!

Captain Al's has been a Mississippi Gulf Coast staple for many years, and I love that they are continually making improvements. They used to be located in a small building several miles north of their current location, and it was known for its greatness then. Their staple dish in the steak and shrimp, but they have many other offerings. The restaurant is located in a raised building right next to Bayou Bernard, which connects to the Gulf of Mexico but is located a couple miles north of the beach. They also have a huge marina out front so you can arrive here by boat or car. They have plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor, so even when the parking lot looks packed, you should go see if a table is available before turning away. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which came with pickled onions and a bunch of large fresh shrimp on top. It was fantastic and way more fancy than we expected. Their dishes come with a ground krab salad (spelled with a K because it's not actually crab but the other stuff) and they are kind of famous for that. The honey mustard dressing has a kick so be ready. We've also had their stuffed jalapenos but wanted to try something different this time. Their staple dish is the steak and shrimp, which also includes a side and I usually go with the stuffed baked potato. The steak is grilled over pecan wood, and it is easily one of the best steaks on the coast. The normal portion is 10-12 ounces but you can upgrade to a 16 ounce. Our was served hot off the grill and perfectly cooked. They also use large plump shrimp and not those dinky little ones you often find at chain restaurants. I usually end up bringing part of the dish home. Service was fantastic and it's the kind of place where they have extra help to clean tables, refill drinks, and so on. You won't be left there with an empty drink if your server gets tied up with another table. I was really impressed by how attentive they were, even on a busy Saturday night. Definitely check out Captain Al's if you're in the area. They have been in business for decades and know what they're doing.

Great place for dining on the water. Captain Al's is a fun casual joint. They offer a wide variety of delicious seafood options and they have some excellent oysters, which is what I usually get there. They have plenty of non seafood options as well as their menu is quite expansive. The service is friendly and welcoming and the space is great for groups large or small. They have a lot of fun cocktails and eating here will make you feel like you're on vacation, even if you're a local like me. Great place to check out!

The service was friendly and prompt. But the best of all were the raw oysters. They were delicious and big. I only get tiny ones in Memphis.

We took our daughter her husband and 2 kids for dinner Friday night. The place was too warm and uncomfortable. The service was at least decent. However the food was far from deserving the price tag. The fresh catch was redfish, likely imported, served over a mountain of angel hair pasta and a seafood cream sauce for $45. One of the kids asked for the side of crabmeat looked like about 2 tablespoons in crabmeat in a cup of oil for $11. I had 5 small strips of fried catfish a cup of green beans and a tasteless salad for $24. This place is NOT worth the price as the quality of the food isn't worth the price you pay, no wonder the place was more than half empty on a Friday at 730 pm.

    Art R.

Great desserts! They have 2 main desserts - key lime pie and hot fudge brownie. The key lime comes 2 ways: regular and deep fried. The fried key lime pie will change your life. Imagine a world in which a homemade key lime pie is dipped in funnel cake batter, fried, and topped with whipped cream and ice cream. Or, go to Captain Al's and quit imagining! And the brownie is as big as your head on the hot fudge brownie!

The jerk chicken was absolutely amazing. It came with the jerk sauce on the side. Honestly, I really didn't need it. The chicken had a delicious smoked flavor. For the sides I had potato salad which looked like it came from a plastic tub at the grocery store, but the plantains were very good. Total of everything plus a drink and tip was over $26 - for lunch! Overall, I don't think it's worth the price. The inside was very nice and clean but the place was pretty empty at noon on a weekday.

From the moment I interacted with the staff, the service was rude and dismissive. Instead of being greeted politely or treated like a paying customer, the employees I dealt with seemed irritated that I even had questions about my order. Their tone was short and unprofessional, and it made the whole interaction uncomfortable. What really crossed the line, though, happened when I was handed my to-go order. While passing me the to-go box, the employee shoved it forward carelessly and ended up hitting me directly in the face with it. There was no apology, no acknowledgment, and no concern shown afterward. It felt extremely disrespectful and honestly shocking that something like that could happen and be brushed off like it didn't matter. Customer service should always involve basic respect and professionalism. Accidents can happen, but the complete lack of accountability or apology afterward made the situation much worse. No customer should feel disrespected or physically struck, even accidentally, when simply picking up their food. I hope management takes situations like this seriously and works on improving how customers are treated. A restaurant's reputation isn't just about the food--it's also about how people are treated when they walk through the door.
