Fantastic meal, and exactly what you would expect if you've ever been to a Doe's. They keep it simple, and do simple incredibly well. The menu is basic. Absolutely devastated that the Benville location closed and so unexpectedly... HOWEVER, hardly a shock. Some of my favorite food I've ever had.... BUT hands-down some of the absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced at any restaurant. This was not simply on one occasion, but repeatedly, especially over their last two years of business. After hearing the Fayetteville location was still in business, we redirected our plans to go to that restaurant (mind you that is a 2 1/2-3 hr drive). Called ahead to verify hours and to our complete shock they close at 8 PM on the weekends??? Either way the individual who answered the phone was unbelievably rude and dismissive any of my questions. I said my concerns about driving that far wanting to make sure they wouldn't close early unexpectedly. The kind individual pretty much said when things slow down, they stop seating and if that's early open parentheses before posted closing time) so be it!?!?!? As such, we did not make the trip. Clearly, same ownership, same wonderful customer service. What an absolute shame. To have such an amazing product, but terrible customer service is a tremendous lost opportunity for the business owners and community alike. read more

My favorite steakhouse! Great atmosphere with adorable wait staff (Anna is a delight). We always get the fillet mignon. It is always cooked perfectly and is juicy. We love to have the tamales with chili as an appetizer. I know that sounds crazy but they are amazing. Another favorite item is the bread bites with honey. First time going to Doe's and came away absolutely shocked and completely satisfied. First things first our waitress was terrific. Our drinks were always full and our question's were answered with positivity and truthfully. She was also very attentive and we didn't have to wait long to order. We ordered the tamales and the half and half shrimp appetizer that comes with 6 broiled shrimp in a flavorful garlic sauce with a lot of spices and six fried shrimp. For our entrees we ordered a 11oz fillet (Queen) and a 2lb porterhouse. Starters-The tamales are delicious. I've had my fair share of tamales with chicken and pork mainly from food trucks in Fayetteville and they are very good. The tamales at Doe's are made with beef and they are honestly the best tasting tamales my mouth hole has had. The chili that comes with it knocks it out of the park. The chili would be perfect on a chili dog or with just crackers but they nailed it with their tamales. 10/10 The fried shrimp was just as good as any shrimp I've had at a seafood restaurant in Florida or in Orange Beach, Alabama. The cocktail sauce is perfectly balanced with the horseradish, acid, and ketchup. This is one of the reasons why I said I was shocked earlier bc it was so good. When we're at the beach I'll order grilled shrimp over fried but if it tasted like Doe's fried shrimp I wouldn't. Just trust me on this one. 10/10 again. The broiled shrimp was cooked perfectly. The garlic butter sauce it came in wasn't bad. It was seasoned well and worth trying. I recommend the fried shrimp over the broiled but to each his own. 7/10. Entrees- My son split a porterhouse with his mom and he devoured it. He crushed the strip and the ole ball and chain had the fillet. I didn't try it but they said it was cooked and seasoned nicely. They went with the boiled red potatoes and mushrooms for their sides and even though they liked them the fries are the go to. I had the 11oz fillet with fries. Again SHOCKED! I will put their fries up against any restaurant. They put on a master class with them. Cooked, cut, and seasoned perfectly. They were crispy and hot. Man they were freaking bad ass. Look if you could only eat one thing from the menu I would honestly order the fries. Without a doubt the best fries in Arkansas by a landslide. I could go on and on about these crispy boys. 100/100. Bravo! Freaking Bravo! Ok, my steak (11oz fillet) wasn't seasoned and that's why I couldn't give them 5 stars. It was cooked correctly but it lacked flavor. I usually order ribeyes but I had implants put in my mouth 3 weeks ago. All steaks were finished with a ladle of butter. When my mouth heals I will 100% be back and order one of their giant ribeye steaks. 7/10 I forgot to mention our steaks came with Southern style drop-biscuits that were fried. Our waitress recommended we eat them with a little bit of butter and honey and she couldn't have been more correct. What's that moron Guy Fieri say "they would be good on a flip flop"? That's probably not true but they are delicious little flavor bombs. They kinda remind me of something you would get at the fair for $12. Overall-Doe's is a little bit pricey but Fayetteville lacks really good restaurants and this place is worth the money. If you want to keep it a little bit cheaper I recommend ordering 6 tamales and the fried shrimp entree. The fries alone are worth making a trip here. On the flip side save your hard, earned money for a few weeks and get a steak and an order of the tamales. You deserve it. Enjoy! read more

Being from Texas, I found the beef filling bland and the light and almost fluffy masa to be off putting. This is just my tastes and others, I'm sure, think this is how tamales should be made. The parchment paper wrapping instead of corn husks was novel and interesting. However, the chili served with it (lots of meat and well seasoned) was excellent. Let's talk steak. 3 of us shared a 2 lb. Porter house. I'm a light eater and prefer the filet, which I shared. However, with the big bone (which your dog will LOVE you for) 2 1/2 or 3 is better for a group. Taste? Out of this world. Easily one of the best steaks I've enjoyed over the years and I'm a steak lover. Let's talk sides. The porterhouse came with a dish of 3 small red boiled potatoes (or we could have had fries). Tasty potatoes, especially if you added the butter available on the table and salt and sour cream (in packets) but seriously, three small potatoes for a $72 steak? The infamous soaked salad (which I was dreading based on previous reviews) was actually pretty tasty, if not sophisticated. Our table of three all had great steaks-huge- each one was enough to feed all three of us. None of us could eat that soaked salad ( and we usually love soaked salads at other places) but this was only a bowl of iceberg lettuce with what tasted like oil on it. Had dinner here on a weeknight with a couple of longtime friends. Doe's on Dickson is always buzzing with activity, even on an otherwise uneventful weeknight. We started out with some of their famous tamales and chili. They are delicious - smother some chili and some hot sauce on them - hard to beat. Just don't eat too many or you'll be taking steak home for breakfast. Simple salad with an olive oil, lemon juice, and garlic dressing is both pleasant and somewhat palate cleansing ahead of the main show. Bring on the meats! Filets, porterhouses, t-bones, there's a cut for everyone. Choose based on your appetite or meat preference. I like them all. The Doe's filet is one of the most tender I have ever had. The porterhouse, the best of both worlds - a tender filet on one side, and a more flavorful strip on the other. A t-bone, similar to a porterhouse, but just a sliver of filet. They also serve fries or boiled potatoes with the steak. Small, two-bite sized fried bread are too tempting to resist. Drizzle some honey on it, and you will pop 3-4 in your mouth before you know it. This review is more so for the the steak . So to begin I ordered the 2.5lb rib-eye steak and it was delicious. Cooked to perfection, dripping with juices, well marbled and well seasoned. It was a challenge to finish but worth every bite. The fried bread was tasty and my waitress was attentive. Now to talk about the remaining...if not for the steak being the rock star I would have given this a 2 to 3 star at best review. To begin they ran out of beer, salad were wilted and disgusting, no drink menu, the sides were particularly disappointing and pricey. The atmosphere could really use some work. On the whole they are a steak joint and it lived up to the hype...everything else was a disappointment. The closest thing on the menu to a vegetarian option was the chicken fingers (though I guess you could get by on boiled red potatoes and the little balls of heaven they call drop biscuits and honey). But the steaks are massive and wonderful - get the 2-pound ribeye, or the 2.5 pound porterhouse for two, for one, and let your cardiologist worry about the consequences. All I can say is WOW! This is our new favorite place for steak and shrimp. The wild caught fried Gulf shrimp were fantastic and the filets we had were wonderful - great taste and cooked perfectly. We tried the half & half potatoes (boiled red potatoes and french fries) and were impressed with them too! (I'm a bit of a french fry snob and these were fantastic!) The southern rolls and the salad were ok, but they weren't meant to be the stars of the show. Was in Fayetteville for my daughter's orientation at the University. Our friends suggested Doe's because we said we wanted steak. I would highly recommend you make a reservation as the place was busy the whole time we were there and it was a weeknight. The restaurant is clean. It's not huge and the tables are quite close together. It is located in a nice area. Parking can be a challenge. We found metered public parking around the corner near the food truck area. The menu is steak, steak, steak french fries, boiled potatoes, tamales and steak. But huge steaks!! It is also pricey so be prepared for a little sticker shock. Most steaks are priced by the pound. The ribeye was $65. Be prepared to wait for your gigantic steak as it takes time to cook. My daughter and I split the ribeye and still had leftovers. It was cooked to the perfect medium rare and seasoned just right. We will definitely go back during move in week. read more

This is a great place to get the meat sweats. Literally. Seems like the smallest steaks always sell fast here, so don't come an hour or two before closing, and expect to get a petite filet or a steak under 1lbs at that time. Steaks here average - i'd say 1.5 lbs, and specialize in TBone, Porterhouse, Ribeeye. Its a pretty bare bones type of place, don't expect fancy sauces, special crusts on your meat. I'd say this place does well with the simplicity of their ingredients. The mushrooms are the best side dish here, and YES - the damn salad is soggy as hell, you could ask for the dressing on the side, but its still wet. Definitely come here hungry. read more
