Our reactions were mixed. Apparently now they are doing mostly catering so they relocated the restaurant portion of their business to next door of the old location and only have a few tables. Sunny and pleasant, but small. Large menu, but the food was inconsistent. The onion rings and fried ravioli were a hit as well as the fresh and colorful salads. Lemon chicken was fresh and tasty and could be a good option for someone watching calories or for a catered plate. Chicken-fried steak and the Rueben were both described as "okay, but I've had better." Potato soup was strangely sour and elicited scrunched faces from the four people who tried it. We didn't try the pies on this trip, but I hear that they are excellent and they certainly looked delicious. I think there is a lot of potential here, but it depends on what you order. I thoroughly enjoyed my spinach mushroom salad. The flavorful chicken breast was an excellent addition and the bacon tasted very high-quality. I spoke to the Springdale Rotary Clubs Breakfast meeting today. The Spring Street Grill catered breakfast and it was hot, delicious and a great meeting style event. There were bacon and eggs, biscuits and gravy along with a wonderful fruit tray. All the fixings and eating utensils, napkins and some hot coffee and bottled water. It was on time and picked up at the end of the meeting. read more

Spring Street Grill is a recommended restaurant in downtown Springdale. I've eaten here several times & I don't really get it. It has always taken a while for the food to come out (I've only been at lunch). I've dismissed this based on the locals' high recommendations. But no more. My soft drink was flat & when I mentioned it, the server said they've had trouble with that particular drink's carbonation "for a while". Why serve it if you're aware & not going to fix it? Ordered the chef salad. Disappointed. The turkey & ham consisted of ONE thin slice each of DELI lunchmeat rolled up. The cheese was a slice of Swiss cut in half. The burgers & sandwiches coming out did look good. My friend's chicken teriyaki entree looked like that boring food you get at a work banquet for 100 people. Took a while to get the bill processed. Seems like they need more than 2 servers for the entire restaurant. The service, while friendly, is scarce & obviously rushed. It is on a one-way street so you may have to make the block & parking can be scarce. Ambiance: dull with astro-turf like gray carpet. You have to walk through their storage/catering area to get to the bathroom. Plus, you can clearly see all the CANNED vegetables. Reputation alone, will only go so far. Won't be back. read more

Another one of Springdale's hidden gems. We knew this place was here but just never stopped in. Glad we had time today. We wanted to see what pie choices they had because we heard they were to die for but we did not get pie. They did say you could order special pies 24 hr in advance and they would make them for you. (Next time) we had breakfast instead oooohhhh my home made briskets and gravy made on the spot! Not warmed up from yesterday MADE on the SPOT! Ordered a Homemade Sweet Roll$1.50 ( choice of orange or cinnamon) and a mushroom Swiss omelette $7.25 which comes with a choice of side and potatoes . I got the English muffin. The service is very slow and they kept running out of coffee on a slow Saturday morning. Orange roll has no inkling of orange, lol. Summary- omelette was good, service lacking. read more

The Spring St., Grill is tucked away just off of Emma in Springdale. The food is great, service was good, be prepared to change your plans to "take out" cause there's not much seating inside, but even if you have to eat in your car, it's well worth the trip. read more

I found myself in Springdale, Arkansas today and decided to ask my Facebook friends for a suggestion of a restaurant to stop by and try. After a few minutes and several suggestions I decided to go to Spring Street Grill & Catering. Upon entering the establishment I noticed there was only one other table seated at the time, and asked to be seated at one of the tables next to the front window. The waitress had wanted to seat me in the back section of the front area of the restaurant, and seemed to be a little irritated that I asked to be seated in the front. After getting seated I decided to check out their restrooms, and on my way back to the rear of the restaurant I saw something that worried me a bit, which was a huge roll around dispenser of institutional sized cans (sauces, veggies etc...). Now I knew by the name of the establishment that they also do catering, so I was hoping that these were for their catered events and not for the actual restaurant itself. Then I went into the bathroom and was a bit shocked at the lack of cleaning. This is their public restroom for their customers as well as the restroom for their staff. And when I see something like this, it tells me two things. First, the staff really do not put any importance on a regular cleaning of their facilities. And second, that management doesn't put any importance on it either and doesn't hold their staff accountable. Whether they want to admit it or not, this is an example of the level of pride that they take on their facility. This just sets a very bad example overall for the restaurant. Once I got back to the table, I told the waitress this was my first time there and asked for a suggestion. She highly recommended the Reuben sandwich. When she came back I told her I would go ahead and get the special of the day. I asked her about the onion rings and if they were made fresh or already battered and frozen. She said they were not fresh. So I asked about the Breaded Mushrooms and she said those were done there, but they were out. Then I asked her about the soup of the day which ended up being broccoli and cheese, but was informed that it was not made from scratch. Asking another waitress that was passing by, I did find out that the meatloaf was made from scratch. And then I asked about the Toasted Ravioli appetizer, and was told it was not made from scratch. Within 10 minutes of receiving my plate of food she had returned with my check. To me, it felt as if I was being rushed out and that it was "time to go". My interactions with this waitress thus far were not impressive, no smile, no real sense of customer appreciation, it really just felt as if I was a bit of "trouble" for her. Now on to the meal! I love some good homemade meatloaf, and this meatloaf was great! Very moist and well seasoned. But then came the sides. The carrots were undercooked and in fact a few of them were luke warm, with a good amount of crunch left in them. And as if they couldn't get any worse, they were not seasoned at all. To be honest, I doubt they even had salt added. Bland would be an understatement. Then the potatoes upon tasting them had the same issue of not being cooked completely. Not quite as bad as the carrots though. There was also a blueberry muffin, which turned out to be nice and moist, but lacking flavor all together. I had been told that their orange rolls were to die for, perhaps I should have ordered one of those instead. When I asked if the carrots and potatoes were fresh or from the can, I was told that the potatoes were definitely from a can and the waitress said she was pretty sure that the carrots were from a can as well. I told her about the carrots being undercooked and crispy, her reaction was basically "ohhh, ok" and then she walked away . The potatoes were definitely from a can, but the carrots actually looked from fresh due to the cuts. Either way, they both missed the mark completely! I went ahead and ordered a slice of their pecan pie, as I was told that the pies were made from scratch. When it came out the waitress asked if I wanted her to box the left over's, and I told her no. So she just took it. Knowing that I was unhappy with what was left on the plate, because I had told her, she didn't offer to replace them with other sides or do anything for me. At this stage of the game, to me it feels like they just don't get the meaning of "customer service" at all. She had a customer in front of her that she knew had never been in before and that was unhappy with a portion of their food. And I purposely did not demand anything from her just to see what she would do. And she failed that test! You have to listen to your customers and be proactive not just reactive. Local favorite and home of the legendary orange roll. Here on a normal Saturday morning and must be a weird vibe today. They keep running out of coffee. EEEK! At breakfast time! ;/ The service is harried and frustrated at best. I LOVE local and I will give this place another try thinking the service just wasn't on all cylinders this morning. The food was good but with on target service and attn to little details (like we have to ask for our own cutlery) it would have made a medium experience a plus experience. ;) read more

They do not return calls for catering. Has happened to me twice. Not exactly customer service oriented. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if they are people who do not return calls for catering when they have catering on their menu, they're pretty sorry. They could have the decency to at least call me back and say they are not available. read more

I came here for lunch with some work friends. I had never been and figured it was worth a shot. I had heard of the place, but had never heard opinions about it. Maybe that was a sign? We entered from the back of the restaurant. They had the entire back set up like a staging area for what I assume would be their catering business. Large pans of green beans sat out in the open, uncovered. Pies were sitting out everywhere, also uncovered. It's also worthy to mention that it was dimly lit and not what I would call remotely clean. When we entered into the main seating area, the room was a little less than half full. We ended up seating ourselves as the only two waitresses were busy with other things. It's obvious they were either short staffed or just didnt care enough to pay for any extra help. After sitting for a fair amount of time, our drink orders were finally taken by one of the two waitresses/hostesses/cashiers/servers/table bussers. By the time she brought our drinks, we were ready to order. Three of us had burgers and the other had a salad and sandwich. That's when the epic wait started. Tick tock, tick tock. I'm really not sure I understand what was taking so long for the food to get done. 35 or so minutes pass and we still didnt have our food. We also didnt get any drink refills. In fact, she didn't come by once while we were waiting. I had a line of sight with the kitchen area where the orders are set to go out. It's around this time that I see burgers and a salad set out to be served. 10 to 15 minutes pass (!!!) with that food sitting out there. As I'm considering the suggestion of walking out, the long lost waitress picks up the plates and brings them over. To their credit, the fries were hot and not bad tasting at all. The burger was juicy and pretty decent. While we were eating, we were never offered drink refills. We got up without getting a ticket and went to the register to pay. The lady working the register at the time obviously acts flustered and stressed. She's not too friendly. She didn't bother asking how the food or service was. A friend asks her about the pies and if they can be purchased as a whole pie. She says, "Those pies?", referring to the ones I previously mentioned that were sitting out in the open. My friend says, "No, just for some other time." Her reply was, "Oh, good. Those aren't for sale." I don't recall her even answering his question. In closing, I'll say that the food was decent. Nothing to write home about, but not disappointing. The service and cleanliness, however, were beyond miserable. I can confidently say that I will never be back. And I will tell anyone that asks about it or suggests it exactly what I think. read more

Great place to have breakfast with the family. Had their special, a spinach ham quiche, and it was delicious. The coffee is good, the pancakes were the size of my head, and the bacon was yummy. Well I have really wanted to eat here. So today after the 100's of places to eat in NW Arkansas I made the trip. The burger was very tasty but small for the $7.75 price with a hand full of chips. Fries are extra. $7.75 for a Cheeseburger I can name many other places that do it much better. Try Smithy's in Fayetteville they truly have a $8.00 cheeseburger you will remember. My waitress was working fast and hard and was very nice. Problem the cook was slow. 5 tables were seated 4 had food, I was table six. What a kick the Spring Street Grill is! It's nothing fancy, but it sure is FUN to eat there. This is the place where all the locals go, including the police. The food is basic but good (burgers, salads, sandwiches, homemade soup) and the hand-cut fries are AMAZING! There are also various homemade pies that are super delicious. The down-side is that there can be LONG lines when you go to pay. There is one cash register and if you have someone ahead of you who is picking up an extensive call-in order, it can take a while. We have used Bill and his staff for several years at the Fayetteville Diagnostic Clinic. We routinely have lunches for large groups of people. I call in advance and give easy instructions of what I want. No matter how much we prepare, they are late. The most recent example. Last week I called to order a business lunch for today even commenting to Bill that I wasn't sure he would be open, due to the holidays. He assured me they were open and scheduling a lunch would be no problem. Told him I needed it to be setup by 11. 11:50 rolls around and we had to call him. He informs my assistant that "he thought the lunch was tomorrow" he could have it to us in 45 minutes. My lunch was to start at noon. We told him no and had to scramble for another option. You cannot depend on him and I will not it use him again. read more

I ordered a casserole, salad, dip, chips for a night before thanksgiving dinner. Then at the last minute I ordered a pie... the owner was FABULOUSLY FRIENDLY and accommodating. ( and he remembered me... and the spelling of my name) It was all perfect. My family GOBBLED it up. I'm ordering Christmas items today. French fried mushroom are battered dipped with apricot sauce---delicious!! Carrot cake to die for, italian cream cake yum yum. I eat here whenever possible. The owner Bill Pawlasky's dad owned Polly's Cafe in Fayetteville on Dickson Street and Spring Street Grill has their famous Rainbow salad on the menu. We ordered a chicken tortilla casserole on a Wednesday for our daughter's graduation party on Saturday. Family and friends were coming in from out of town and we wanted everything to be ready and right. We went to pick up the casserole at 1:00 Saturday afternoon. They had told us that we could pick it up anytime after 10. So, to make a long story short, they had sold our casserole to someone else and tried to pawn off a different casserole that was half the size of the one we ordered. We respectfully declined. In an effort to make things right, they quickly threw together the worst excuse of a chicken tortilla casserole that our guests ever tasted. We know this because we've eaten their chicken tortilla casserole before. This casserole was $40 and they claimed it would feed 15 people. I'm not sure where they get the figure 15. Maybe 15 kindergarteners, but definitely not 15 adults. We had bragged to our guest about what a treat they had in store and it was just a big disappointment. I will not be coming back for overpriced horrible food and service and will not recommend to others. read more
