I have found that this is pretty much par the course for many of the East Bay dog walking companies that I have looked into. A couple months ago, a friend from the Alameda Pet Shelter (place where I adopted both of my pups) recommended Zack with Unmarked Territory. Zack was wonderful with both of my dogs and paid special attention to my older dog's health concerns. You can tell he has a lot of experience with dogs big and small. I love getting my report card at the end of each walk describing all of the fun and exciting places my pups have been! Very reliable, professional, affordably priced- and flexible! Last time we were there, there were several other dogs with their owners and everybody was chill. This time we got there on a Thursday morning. There was absolutely no one there until right when we were leaving when a dog walker brought in about 15 dogs. They were all very well behaved. The grass has grown a bit and dried out a bit but nothing that made me concerned about getting foxtail or burrs. I love this park for its simplicity and the ability for me to walk with my dogs in an enclosed space, and they can run, but not out of my sight.

I think most people just bring their own though and leave them, I do sometimes for whoever may have forgotten their own. Whatever the case we practice on keeping it very clean by picking up our pets waste. As for parking it's usually some street parking always near....one more thing on the side gate of the park there is a fence with lots of cactus and sweet fruits I like to enjoys every so often also.

Moe was fairly friendly and communicative at first, but when I arrived I was not allowed inside to see the set-up where my cat would be staying. I knew she wouldn't have a lot of space, but from the one blurry picture I received during her stay, she was sleeping and eating right next to her litter box in the small cage. When I picked her up, I found out that she had lost half a pound (and she was already underweight), and had an eye and upper respiratory infection that she probably picked up from another cat there which had to be treated with medication. She also smelled bad and had to be bathed right away. I brought a cat bed with her, which was in her cage, and when I picked her up there was uncleaned vomit on the bed. I would never take my cat here again. I don't think she properly received her medication every day either but that is just my suspicion. I am disappointment in the lack of care and concern for her health and the cleanliness of her environment. That being said, it is the cheapest boarding option I could find, and my cat is old and more susceptible to infections. A younger cat would probably be fine boarding here for a weekend maybe, but I wouldn't do any longer than that.

We had the Princess with us and as we were leaving mapped out the nearest dog park. Lo and behold, it was right next door! It's not a huge park but there's enough room to throw a ball and run around in. Parking is one the rocks right in front of the gate on Main Street. I suppose you could also park in the Ferry Terminal parking lot although I'm not sure if that's okay or not. There are two entrances to the park. The main entrance on Main Street has a dual gate entrance while the entrance on the Ferry Terminal side is a single gate. Dual gates are my preference because it adds a layer of safety should one gate accidentally not latch properly. We found a couple of dog toys and there were several bowls with water. There were also numerous gallon jugs with water in them. There is no water fountain nor restroom onsite, so it appears that other pet parents are taking empty jugs and filling them. The encampments and motorhomes that other wrote about in 2022 and 2023 are no longer there, so the area feels relatively safe.

Biggest problem is that it is difficult to get to assuming your not living nearby. Alameda is such a drag to drive around in - I'd say its almost as bad as downtown San Francisco in terms of driving 1 mile will cost you 12 minutes. Lots of stop signs and tiny narrow streets. Crowded feeling. Your dog will love it. If he is cooped up in a tiny apartment there is space to run. Also important for your dog to socialize and do some flea swapping with the next dog. They love that.

Phobos is extremely people shy, and scares easily in loud/noisy environments so as you can imagine, it's been a huge challenge taking him anywhere. Walks were extremely stressful, always cut short and we were beginning to feel pretty hopeless since we had tried EVERYTHING we could conjure up to improve his confidence-to no avail. It's only been several months since Phobos has been joining Hadley & the pack on walks, but I'm honestly in disbelief with how much progress he's made already. Just yesterday, we brought him along with us to Moseley's Cafe to grab a quick bite (being cautiously optimistic), and he did SO well even though it was a tight, crowded area. He remained calm, collected and even laid down to enjoy a patch of sun. I was absolutely shocked. Only a couple months ago, he'd be barking at people, pulling every-which-way to get away, and we would have most likely caused a scene. I can't even begin to tell y'all how much my fiancé and I appreciate Hadley's patience and expertise in navigating these tricky waters. Imagine my happiness when I found out they're a local company! Prices are marginally higher than my local Petco, but big box pet stores can't hold a candle to BB's inventory. Binky Bunny has TONS of stuff, even sample sizes so you don't have to commit to a large product in case you have a picky character at home. I would also add that one feels better supporting BB over the large corporations not just as a small local business, but supporting an owner who is so passionate about bunny rescue. I try to buy toys or new chews once every month or two, and I love that these chews come from manufacturers I can trust completely. It can be hard to find untreated willow, for example, and I'm not willing to take the chance with things found at the big stores. If you're local (only if COVID distancing mandates are lifted) you are able to pick up your order, which is awesome! They aren't a brick and mortar store at this time, but I hope in the future opportunity arises. Other major pros: Rewards program-- 1 point for every dollar spent, 100 points = $5 bucks.
