APA - Brentwood - stray Boston terrier

    APA - Brentwood

We adopted our last cat from the APA in Brentwood (on Hanley) and that was 15 years ago. The whole…read moreprocess was simple and we loved our Oliver, a big orange tabby cat, until a little over a year ago when we lost him to kidney disease. He was a great addition to our family. I regularly donate clean old towels and blankets to the APA. Their staff are all competent and friendly and they all love animals! I've always been impressed with their veterinarians. I know that we adopted other pets over the years from the APA, and my family of origin did, too, when I was a kid. I'm so happy to have a wonderful organization close by to help families find wonderful pets like Oliver to add love and joy to each family!

I'm grateful they were able to take in the stray Boston Terrier we found. She had no microchip, and…read moreI'm relieved she's safe now. That said, our interaction with Lance was surprisingly rude and dismissive. When we told him we'd been calling her "Mama," he rolled his eyes and said, "We have so many Mamas," like it was an inconvenience. When my friend offered to foster, he brushed her off, saying the dog would "probably get adopted quickly anyway" and that she could "maybe go on the website." He also made the whole intake process uncomfortable. I was sitting with the dog in my lap when he sat at a desk far away, asked for my ID (which my friend had to bring to him), and then slapped it back on the counter without a word. The entire time he was typing things in, he didn't explain what he was doing, what the next steps were, or even why he needed my info. I'm thankful they took the dog in, but the lack of kindness or communication really soured the experience. It shouldn't feel like a burden to bring in an animal who needs help.

Dr. Nelson at the WILDWOOD location. AMAZING. My baby Waffles, had a seizure. We called at least 10…read more+ vets on a Sunday- she was the only one willing to see us. Waffles has a fracture in his lower spine - originally when we took him in, back hine legs were immobile. Today we came to see him. WOW! The treatments and work they did just in 1 over night stay, he was already in such better shape! The staff was SO KIND even at 10:30 at night, after dealing with patients all day and they still had compassion after such a long day. So so kind and we are so grateful for Dr. Nelson! Absolutely one of the best vets we have ever been too!

Unfortunately we will not be going to fox creek anymore after our experience and I urge you to go…read moresomewhere else. Our dog had an interesting case that involved stitches in his tail. After a few weeks we went in for a wellness check & for them to take his stitches out. Again... we thought everything was good. They charge for unnecessary things on the bill which was whatever. We just wanted to make sure our dog was taken care of no matter the cost but they seem to use that against you. We noticed there was a stitch left in so we quickly take him back up there in hopes they would get them all out this time.. Flash forward a few weeks of him "no longer having stitches" and we see there's a few still in there... we're a bit upset that they missed them especially since it's practically healed now & we took him up a 2nd time to get them out. So we call and say they missed a few & she quickly cuts us off and say "this happens sometimes" ... I'm sorry this what? It shouldn't happen at all. Sounds like negligence & bad vet techs trying to work quickly to get more $$$ out of us. Seems like they can only handle small incidents with your animals. If it's something serious maybe go somewhere else. If you like mistakes, having to take your pet up multiple times, or like spending LOTS of money come here !! We sure don't so we'll be taking our business elsewhere. *we did take him to the kirkwood location one time in between visits at Manchester & kirkwood gave us a better experience just that one time than Manchester has this entire time. They're nicer & kirkwood will actually listen to you instead of cutting you off as you speak*
