Paradise Pet Resort offers trustworthy services to dog lovers in the Rohnert Park area. Years ago, we first brought our senior dog, Sydney, for grooming and felt delighted to find Maryben. Her heart must overflow with love for dogs, because now we have a 50 pound Labrador doodle pup for her to groom. Also, I'm so happy to have found this excellent daycare for our big pup. Their kind and understanding staff continues to be gentle and positive with our puppy. Our pup loves other dogs! Paradise Pet Resort offers a half day session (5 hours) which is perfect for our boy. Playing with other dogs tires him out. And a tired dog is a good dog! We have also left him overnight and loved how clean and happy he looked. Like I wrote above, we use their charming dog-loving groomer, Maryben. She taught our puppy how to behave in a grooming session. She does such a wonderful job that Beau wags his tail when she walks out to get him from our car. Two years later, I'm STILL pissed about what happened to Harvey here. He left with multiple deep, open wounds, and the employee apparently thought hiding how badly he was hurt was an acceptable way to handle it. That's beyond unacceptable it's fucking disgraceful. Yes, the owner paid the vet bill. Good. That was the bare minimum after your employee let my dog leave injured and then tried to minimize it. Writing a check doesn't magically erase the bullshit. I actually considered giving this place another chance. Then I saw the continued negative reviews and realized apparently nothing has changed. After a few months, we quit taking our dog here (ended officially in February). Every time we would pick him up- he would smell, would come home with some licking problem or digestion parasite. After the last trip to the vet we stopped taking him here, he had Giardia multiple times after staying here. EVERY dog day facility should require a poop test. Our new one does and it's wonderful. Also, every time we would leave him they said our dog was ALWAYS aggressive- never in our care of play dates has that ever been a thing. They need to evaluate dogs and separate them based on temperament. Not sure why our dog always was blamed and isolated. Now he is at a new dog day care & boarding and is thriving (going on month 5 months) he never has had a behavior issue, no aggression reported and thankfully in smaller play groups. They open early enough for me to drop off my dog (Lexa) which no other doggy daycares in the area does. And Lexa loves it there. She is so excited to see Shauna in the morning. And Shauna has also been very helpful from the first day we started using Paradise Pet Resorts. I also like that they have live streams there. I get to peek in during the day on Lexa. And I know she is being treated well. This has been a great experience for Lexa who was extremely shy and afraid of everything when I started bringing her to Paradise, and now she has come out of her shell and is much more comfortable around other dogs and people now. There are 2 Pet Paradise locations- one on Bluebell in Santa Rosa (for doggie day care) and another in Rohnert Park for extended care. My dog loves the SR Bluebell location and I trust the staff for daycare However I would Not board my dog at RP. I did once over Christmas for a week and when I picked him up he was very sick and weak. He looked fine on the cams but it's kind of hard to tell if they're really ok. The staff acknowledged he was sick, but didn't contact me before the day of pickup, and for some very unwise reason decided to hose him off so he was sick, soaked and shuddering when I came to pick him up. They sent me to the nearby VCA and paid for the expenses, where they determined he had kennel cough, but I would never leave my dog there again. Nearby K9 Activity Club has heated floors and private huts, and offers in home care now as well so if it's just for daycare the SR location is awesome but would steer clear of RP for extended boarding. read more

We visited to meet some rescue dogs they were boarding because there were no foster homes yet. We were considering fostering one of the dogs. The place is very clean. The only scent is disinfectant. The staff is so friendly. All of the dogs who were being picked up by their parents were super excited to get out. They seemed ready to go, even if they had been there for a half day. But, that is likely due to lack of familiarity with boarding or having been groomed. The regulars looked pretty chill. We were in a small fenced yard. It had an area for dogs to poo and hadn't been cleaned yet, but again, no odor. There was a pool, dock diving, lots of outside yards, and the staff really seemed friendly and loved the dogs. This place is hands down the BEST in Sonoma County. Hands down - the Best. I have a 6 year old Husky (Milo aka Lolo) who I bring to daycare a few times out of the week to socialize with other dogs and get those extra steps in . I started bringing him more often starting a few months ago and I can confidently confirm that this is literally his second home in the sense that he FEELS at home and is so happy to be there. Traveling from Sebastopol to RP, he begins to cry and talk in excitement when we exit the freeway . After a full play day he sleeps on the way home and the next day wakes up almost stiff. BUT, what truly makes this place so amazing begins with the Staff..Shauna, Jordan, Kiki, etc., are animal lovers, the kindness and care they show for my dog and all others stands out in the way they treat the animals. I am more than comfortable leaving Lo in their care. I can say from many personal interactions with the staff that they have formed a community - based on caring for OUR pets, our babies. Absolutely amazing people. Another offered feature (maybe one of the only in Sonoma County) is the free webcams on their app (to check up on Mr. Lo throughout the day). This makes me feel that much more comfortable and at ease when he is playing for 8+ hours when I am at work. With very reasonable price points for a single half-day or full-day of daycare and the options for additional bulk day care packages makes this place flexible for literally any need. When I picked my dog up, she was covered in filth and smelled. She was bathed the night before drop off. She's gone a month in between bathing and never in all her years looked and smelled like this. It was a mixture of dog smells and dog feces and urine. Everyone in our vehicle could smell the stench. The worst part is she, my dog had to smell it and feel the filth of other animals on herself. The kennels and areas were filthy like they hadn't been power washed or sanitized in months, if at all. When I got home, my dog's belongings were missing from her stuff and another animals things were in her bag even though she was NOT to be boarded with any other animals or mingled with any other animals. read more

We were customers at Paradise Pet Resort for 9+ years. We stopped going in May 2024 after my dog suffered severe chemical burns in his mouth and gums while boarding at this facility. The extent of his injuries only became apparent after he was seen at pet ER. My dog's condition was so bad he had to stay overnight and had to be on 5 medications, including codeine, to help with the pain. The owner, Mike, has been indifferent and non-responsive to all communication throught this ordeal. The manager only keeps telling us she will relay to, but not a word from him. We were loyal customers who spent thousands of $ in almost a decade of patronizing this business. This recent ordeal cost us $3800 in vet bills and sleepless nights. I gain nothing from posting this truthful and accurate account. My only hope is no one goes through what we did, which was to see our dog suffer needlessly. No one from Paradise Pet Resort noticed and no one called us to tell us anything was wrong while he was boarding. The owner is so cowardly and sends his manager to talk to us. There is zero compassion and accountability. I will post photos taken by the vet showing the extent of the burns on my dog's tongue and gums. One of the vet techs told me I should have known this was a bad facility given the rotating staff and large # of dogs compared to staff. Look at the videos yourself. I do not like to leave negative reviews, but I feel that the negligence of this facility is so poor and subpar, that dog owners need to be made aware before they entrust this facility with their precious animals. I have been coming here periodically for years, pre and post- pandemic, and have never had a good experience- all have been either neutral or bad. The majority of the staff there does not show that they care about the animals. They're all distracted and checked out from reality. No report cards, no update on the dogs day, nothing. They're just going through the motions like zombies. Also, every time I picked up my dog he reeked of pee. I wish this was the worst of it. One time I picked my dog up and he was still full of energy after an 8 hour day. I found out later it was because he was humping another dog, so they isolated him from the rest of the dogs for the entire day and did not call to tell me. Mind you, he's fixed. I have a crate at home for him, I bring him to daycare to get his energy out and have fun while I'm at work. Why would I pay $30 to have someone else essentially crate him for the day? That was very upsetting, and I asked to please call me immediately if they ever decide to do that again. The last straw was while I was watching the doggy cam, and noticed the girl was being aggressive with my dog who just wanted to play catch. I watched her grab him by the collar and jerk him in a manner that immediately caused me to leave work to go pick him up. I asked for a refund and requested that the owner please call me. In conversing with the owner (I believe it was Mike) I was told that the girl who mis handled my dog told him that he bit her. Well the entire ordeal is on camera, and it was a flat out lie as I watched the whole thing. I had 5 large Macaws that had to be evacuated while a fire was raging up our mountain in Angwin, CA. September 2020 that lasted 23 days . The owner at Paradice Resort set up a dedicated conditioned bird room with his assorted cages and took them all in for the duration. He did not bill us because it was an emergency he said. He did the same for many rescue dogs & cats ... he took in all comers....some that finally had no owners. He was the one that cared! Pet paradise has been there for us for 2 week vacations as well & our difficult birds were well cared for. Who does this? Nowhere we can find that is clean & safe. We have watched how busy the office can be at 7 am when the doors open and at 5 pm when people come for their pets.. We know that he kept his people working during Covid when many places just shut down. Dropped my little one off at Paradise and was greeted by a warm staff! They took her belongings, labeled everything, asked me her schedule and if she had any special needs! While away, they forwarded me a link for the doggy cams where I saw her playing with her new friends! Then even sent me text updates with pictures on how she was getting used to overnighting! This place needs more people working or at least one designated employee manning the front desk. I sometimes wait up to 20 mins for them to retrieve my dog. This could simply be helped by one employee using a handheld 2 way radio and asking the people in back to bring specific dogs to the front. ****PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR PETS**** I am writing to express my extreme disappointment in the quality of care provided at Pet Paradise Rohnert Park. We trusted your facility to take care of our 1.5-year-old dog, Bria, while we were away for 10 days. Bria seemed to do well playing with the other dogs and we were delighted that we could watch her on the cameras to ease our minds. However, I noticed several times that the person that was supposed to be watching the dogs was not paying attention to them at all, rather staring at their phones. I observed one dog relentlessly jumping on the other dogs right in front of the employee on duty and they paid no attention to what was happening. The dogs were kept outside all day from 7 am to 5 pm. I could see one water bowl for 15-20 large dogs and nowhere for the dogs to lie down. On Monday, December 5th we could not find Bria on any of the cameras and debated whether or not we should bother the staff with our worries. Later that evening, I received a call telling me that Bria was in an "altercation" with another dog and had two puncture wounds. We asked when the incident happened, and we were told the night before. This means it took the staff nearly 24 hours to notify us of our dog's injuries. When I asked if she needed to go to the vet, I was told she should be fine, and that they would send me pictures of the wound. I waited a couple of hours (worried out of my mind) and still no pictures. I called back and was able to get another person to send pictures. Upon receiving the pictures, I was very concerned, as the wound looked serious to me and was leaking fluids. I forwarded a picture to Bria's vet, and they advised that she needed to be seen right away. I signed something giving Pet Paradise permission to seek medical care in the event of an emergency, prior to boarding Bria. Sadly, being bitten by another dog and having an open wound is not considered an emergency to the staff and the urgency was quickly dismissed by telling us she will be fine. We arrived home too late to pick Bria up the next day, so we had to wait until 6:30 am to pick her up. When Bria saw my husband and me, she let out the most enormous "scream" that we had ever heard from her. She was clearly traumatized from the whole experience, and she urinated on the floor (which is out of character for her). We were told that they were unable to find the 40 lb. bag of dog food that we left for her. I insisted that they go back and look again, and they miraculously found her food. We were very unhappy that we paid close to $400 to have our dog attacked by another dog (that was clearly aggressive) under your care. In addition, Bria smelled strongly of urine. The same smell you smell when you walk into the front door. This leads me to believe that Bria's kennel was not being properly cleaned. We took Bria to an emergency veterinary hospital, as her regular vet was booked. We incurred close $1100 in vet bills for Bria's surgery. The vet found a secondary infection and necrosis in the wound area. We were told that it wouldn't have been this serious if Bria had been seen right away. Again, we were not even notified of the incident for nearly 24 hours after it happened read more

We brought our best friend here, so he could have a nice safe place to a stay while we went away and 6 days later we realized that isn't what we did at all. During our time away, we tried to use their (paid for) camera app with great disappointment. The first camera "big dog play" is clearly on its last leg. 5 of the cameras including "big dog outside" don't work and at least one is mislabeled. I called and complained and was told the owner was "waiting for parts". And what parts do you order for a camera? When we came to get him, we found out that our dog was used to feed this abominable establishments apparently abundant flea farm. He has also clearly been bitten by something much larger than a flea. When my girlfriend asked what happened, she was told that another dog probably didn't want to play, so bit our dog. That's probably all I need to say. Here, that is. My dog was staying here for a couple of days during vacation. The day he came home he seemed so exhausted and filthy although we called for a bath days in advance. His paws were stained and red. He had diarrhea with slight blood. His stool was fine before we left him. I would like to be informed if my dog is unwell... also seems like he came home with a bruise or two, which can you explain to me why? It looks like they hardly fed him for the amount of days he was there. I would've though his food bag (gallon ziplock) would've been almost empty for the 5 days he spent there but it was ONLY half way. I know my dog should've been fed more for his size. If you get paid to take care of my dog, you better take care of my dog and ignoring their needs and care is unacceptable. zero stars. tried this place out because it's down the street from my house for an one night, asked for the premium bath/nail trim package, but didn't receive it and they didn't even let me know. They don't seem to care about the animals at all. It is dirty and smells like pee and poop, so i can only imagine what the kennels are like. Second overnight visit my dog came home with ticks and fleas. they also couldn't find his lease and harness. A couple staff members are teenagers and they have no clue what is going on and aren't very knowledgeable about services or what's going on with the animals. my dog is my best friend and seeing him looking skinny and starved makes me so sad, never ever take ur dog here. Nightmare Pet Resort. We were regular customers, but never again. What happened today isn't a risk I would take even one in 20 times. Our dog is a dog's dog and likes to socialize with other dogs and run around. We have brought him to "Paradise" numerous times. Our daughter just moved away from home, and she was our dog's best friend, so we bought our dog a day at the resort to console him. They caged him and left him in the cage all day. He didn't get to run around and socialize. We are used to watching him play on the dog-cam, so we phoned "Paradise" to ask what happened. They accused him of being rough with the other dogs. It's unlikely. He's a pretty big dog, and can get pushy, but he doesn't harm anybody. So I asked them to try again, and they disappeared him. An hour later when I called, they told me that they had taken him to a place with no cameras and he had attacked the other dogs again. It's highly unlikely. What's more likely is that they had an untrained employee who isn't good with dogs and didn't understand what was going on, and it's just way easier to lock the dog in solitary confinement than deal with them. Or it's possible that they were simply understaffed today and didn't have time to monitor the dogs and so just threw mine in a cage to be safe. I called to discuss this five times during the day, and each time the phone employee said they would do something and didn't do it, like they promised they would at least move him to a kennel where I could see him on the dog cam, and then they would call back to confirm that I could see him. None of that happened. TLDR; I tried to treat my dog to a spa day and instead they caged him. If I hadn't been monitoring the cameras I would never have known. And in any case there was nothing I could do about it. They better change the name -- there is nothing resort-like about this place. read more

My Aussie, Kodiak, has been staying at Paradise Pet Resort for our trips when my mom was not available since 2016. Even though we now live down in Benicia and not next door in Santa Rosa we make the 50 minute drive to bring him to Paradise Pet Resort because Kodiak is always eager to race in the door here and the cost is very reasonable. The employees are diligent about going over his food and med needs when I drop him off. I put his anti seizure med and joint supplement in a pill container and am pleased that when I pick him up that it appears he has always been given everything as scheduled. The employees bring their own dog's to work are clearly all animal lovers. My dog was socialized to play with other dog's since we got him from an Aussie rescue when he was 4 month's old. He absolutely loves playing with other dog's and I always go on their app to watch him in the yard multiple times a day. This is an ideal place for social dog's that play well with other's. If they are not very social, are fearful, or play rough I would look for in-home care for everyone's safety. I just picked Kodiak up after an overnight yesterday and was happy that he was wet (not from urine, it was definitely water) because they had the dog pools out and were spraying down the pup's to keep them cool in the hot weather. There is also a pool they can book swim time in but it's a little pricy at $20 per swim. However, at $48 a night ($44 for stays of 6 nights or longer), this place is the most reasonably priced around and they didn't jack up their prices post-covid the way every other dog-related business seems to have done. I have seen a couple of disturbing reviews on here about dog's getting injured in scraps with other dog's but I'm not sure that is 100% preventable. My dog was randomly bitten (nothing severe thankfully) by another dog a few weeks ago while we were having dinner at a dog friendly patio restaurant a couple of weeks ago and once at a dog park in Santa Rosa. Dog's do get in random fights sometimes and these businesses do board a lot of dog's. However, this business does have multiple play yards to separate dog's and from what I've seen on the cameras there is a reasonable dog/staff ratio unlike a place I once took my dog in Oakland for the day that must have had a 100 dog's and 1 or 2 staff members visible. Never went back to that one. The only issue I've had in the past was a slight urine smell on Kodiak when I picked him up. I spoke with management about this and it has not been a problem again. I do arrange for him to have a bath the day before pick-up and he has been smelling really good when I get him now. Their bathing prices are also very reasonable. I call to check on Kodiak every day and watch him on camera very frequently which I think every pet parent should do. If I could give this place negative stars I would. My poor mom had to have brain surgery, due to the hospital being in the city and is having to spend much of our time down there and taking care of her she decided to board her dog so she would NOT have to worry about him, because he is her EVERYTHING. She asked my friend, who is a vet tech, where she would recommend in our area, because she wanted the BEST care for him, she recommended Paradise pet resort. The day after we picked my moms dog up, my mom called me to ask if I could take the dog to the vet because he was coughing and she thought he had kennel cough. I took him in and Sure enough he did. My Poor mom was Recovering from BRAIN SURGERY & STRESSED & WORRIED about her dog. The dog had to get get a shot, she has to give him a liquid & a pill medicine EVERYDAY & take him back in two weeks, All while she's trying to recover. Also she asked & PAYED them to clip his nails & they did NOT. She asked when we picked him up instead of saying, Sorry we didn't we can do it really quick, they said "we'll put a credit on his chart for next time. We both have taken our dogs there for nail trimming and we will NEVER go back there for ANYTHING again. I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE pet paradise. My Pitt mix started going there when he was 15 weeks old till he was 2 years old when we moved in 2017. I have a trip planned in June that I wanted to board him for. I just called them and they told me that my dog because he's part Pitt would not be allowed to be in areas where other dogs are. He would have to be in a kennel by himself. This is so very disappointing that they would put a band on an entire breed. All they're doing is perpetuating a stereotype. Perhaps,more in-depth evaluations on their part are needed. This place has gone down hill since we last attended, lots of 1 Star reviews for a reason.
