We have tried the local kennels and when we picked up our dogs after a few days they where exhausted and acted like they had not eaten or slept in days. After having Julie come to the house and take care of our dogs a couple times each day we feel like the dogs are much happier and healthier in their own home. We have used Julie a number of times and she loves the dogs and communicates with us almost daily. Highly recommended. read more

We have a 12 year old Papillon that was just diagnosed with heart disease and had gone into congestive heart failure 3 weeks prior to our planned vacation to Hawaii. Because of this I didn't want to go on the trip. My dog was obviously struggling and the gazillion meds did not seem to be as effective as I hoped. I was super discombobulated after his two night stint at the Prescott ER Vet. I screwed up the return date and Julie's helper had a prior obligation so could not stay an additional night. Needless to say I was in a panic. Thank goodness Julie funds a professional operation and stepped up for us. She personally stayed at our home even with a totally full schedule. Somehow she made it work and I am eternally grateful. Had it not been for her it could have been a very bad situation. I must say I don't post many reviews, but when someone handles a crisis the way Julie did for us warrants sharing that experience with anyone looking for a pet sitter or someone to walk their dog. Julie had been walking our Catahoula for awhile when this happened so our animals knew her. It's an amazing feeling to actually trust the person looking out for all of our pets and to make sure our sick little man gets his medication on time. I cannot recommend Julie and Doggedly Devoted highly enough. She is a professional and truly cares about animals.That is not easy to find in Prescott, AZ. read more

After knee surgery I hired Julie to walk my dogs. It's obvious she is an animal lover, she is in control and they hang by the door after she leaves, wanting her to come back. Just talking to her, I would totally trust her to pet sit at my house. There just aren't enough good things I can say about Julie. read more

Julie is an absolute professional. All of the i's are dotted and the t's crossed. I felt very comfortable leaving my cherished dog in her care when I lived in the Prescott area. Provisions are made in case you don't return home on time, your pet needs the vet, and just about any other problem that may arise. read more

Julie was just wonderful with our cat Cooper! They bonded instantly when she arrived for her complimentary first visit to our home. Her attention to detail was so reassuring to us that we immediately felt at ease leaving Cooper in her care. We came home to a very happy cat after our vacation! Not to mention freshly watered plants, empty trash cans and a weeks worth of mail safely picked up daily! Established in 2003.

Doggedly Devoted was started after I moved to Prescott in late 2002 and could not find satisfactory pet sitting in the area. My pets are the most important things in the world to me and I expect dedication, professionalism and a true love of animals in the person I would hire to care for them. My experiences with the sitters in the area, over the phone and in person, were very unsettling so I began Doggedly Devoted. Now I am happy to personally give others the care I came to expect.

Meet the Business Owner: Julie A.

Doggedly Devoted, Compassionate Pet Care when you can't be there, is owned and operated by Julie Abel, currently the proud pet parent of "Wondermutts" Frankie, Ozzie and Silas! Julie moved to in 2002 with her previous Wondermutts: Shayn, Ruby and Kota. Arriving in Prescott, Julie did not find the quality Pet Care services she had grown accustomed to. The so called "Professional Pet Sitters" were of the perfunctory "we'll drop by and fill the bowl" type. Julie, like most pet owners, wanted the comfort of knowing her 'furkids' were being treated kindly and with individual attention. She surmised that combining her excellent management skills with her inherent love of animals could result in an exciting career change. By harnessing the two together, Julie could provide her new community with a much needed service while satisfying her desire to care for animals. April 2003 saw the birth of "Doggedly Devoted: Compassionate pet care when you can't be there."

I finally got my baby out and home and he drank probably a half a gallon of water when we got here he was very dehydrated. Never again! I wouldn't use them if it was the last boarding facility in town!

In the past I've been shown the dental x-rays along with before and after pictures of my dog's mouth. None of these were unavailable. Blood was left on my dog's arm that should have been cleaned off. Being a retired RVT and the amount of money I've spent on veterinary care I expected much better treatment from PAH and answers to my questions. It might be time to find a new Veterinary Practice.

I have been in to Mile Hi FIVE times in the past two weeks. Last week I took one half of a bonded pair of elder Brussel Griffons in and he proved to have serious complications from bad teeth and was not a good surgery candidate. He suddenly passed away in my arms two days after that appointment. I am so glad the vet found what was wrong beforehand and I wasn't blindsided by his death. Today I called for his brother who had suddenly stopped eating and was lethargic and was given an appointment within TWENTY MINUTES. The poor little furry dustmop was dead when the tech tried to take him from the carrier. I can not say enough good things about the care myself and my dogs have received from Mile Hi. Although I wish there had been more years with the little guys, they are buried under the same tree and will have eternity together gamboling through the meadows. Every member of Mile Hi has been caring and wonderful for every visit I've had with them - good outcome or not so good outcome. And they have been easy on my wallet. I have used three other vet services in my 15+ years here in Prescott, and Mile Hi is the best by far.

AVOID THIS VET AT ALL COSTS…read more This veterinarian drew out supposedly "lifesaving" services for our dog for a full week. Days and days of being told to bring our dog in to the vet so they could administer supposedly lifesaving procedures. When there was no improvement after a full week of this, we took our dog to a different vet. This other vet immediately informed us that our dog had been in full kidney failure for probably the entire week and there was nothing more to be done. On top of that, our dog's pain and suffering had been prolonged for NO reason. When I asked the receptionist about this and whether they would be willing to settle with us on the over $1,000 bill, given the firm second opinion and the clear cut nature of what they had done (charged us, essentially, to prolong our dog's suffering, instead of being honest and transparent), I was met with rudeness and a real lack of compassion. I was told that because we did not "check in" every day (which is NOT TRUE-- I was on the phone with these people at least once a day while our dog was being treated) and because they "used their resources" there was nothing she/they could do. More like, there was nothing they were willing to do. There was ZERO kindness or understanding shown. This is an absolutely terrible way to do business, especially in a small town. I take my pets' health and well-being VERY seriously, which Is why this is so offensive. I have since shared this story with friends and have heard other horror stories regarding this vet which completely validated my experience. AVOID this vet -- go to Mile High (or anyone else who is conscientious!!!) instead. This veterinarian takes advantage of people who are willing to go to any length to save a beloved family member.
