I will never board my dog again with Doggie Dude Ranch!! I called to see about boarding, I had to make ran emergency trip out of town and it was the only place that didn't need a visit before so my hands were tied on where to go. I have never boarded my dog and I will never do it again there! The woman at the from desk was nice enough but the gentleman (I use the word very loosely) looked like he was on drugs and told my dog if he wasn't nice to him he wouldn't eat! Excuse me?! Reluctantly, I let him take my dog back. I had no other choice at this point. I asked the girl at the front desk if they were gonna be nice to my dog and she said yeah that was a little creepy. I'm sorry he's new! So two days later I come to get my baby and all I hear is parking from all the dogs like it just oh I'm upset barking, it was unnerving! I finally got my baby out and home and he drank probably a half a gallon of water when we got here he was very dehydrated. Never again! I was incredibly nervous to drop my dog off for the weekend. I adopted him from the animal shelter in Mesa and was unsure how he would react to being boarded. When I dropped him off, all fear I had was gone. The staff was incredibly nice and you could tell they loved dogs. I knew my dog was in good hands when three staff members came to get him and swarmed him with love. I was able to enjoy my weekend and I know he enjoyed his too. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE FOR BOARDING! I had been taking my dog here for about the last 4 yrs. When the new owner took over about 1.5 yrs ago, I started seeing some changes that I wasn't too happy with. At first I thought "oh well" maybe it's just me. I should have gone with my gut feeling. First of all, the staff look like people who may have come out of drug rehabs or are homeless. I took our beloved, happy go lucky dog in to be boarded on a Wednesday & when we picked him up 4 days later, he looked dazed and his leg was hurting him. After 2 days in the ER, over $2000 of bills, our dog was diagnosed with high fevers, in shock & sepsis. There was no choice but to put our precious dog down. When I talked to the owner about the situation, he was rude, uncaring & totally unprofessional. My dog would be alive & well today, if I had only listened to my gut. read more

This is the second time I have boarded our dog there (this time just overnight), but I regret not driving up there to drop him off a few weeks ago when we took a week long road trip. This place would have been way way better for our dog than the annoying city-dog places around Phoenix. This time they also bathed him and did his nails, (I don't know how they did it because he doesn't like it done and is not easy to deal with). Honestly, I drove away feeling guilty for not leaving a generous tip (It's easy to get sidetracked when trying to control a super excited dog). I think their prices are very affordable and I love the somewhat rural atmosphere. hats off to the gals that work there, I could tell they were insanely busy on Saturday and they work so hard. I will think of some way to send them a tip. I hope they continue to properly adjust their prices if inflation gets worse because I would hate to see that business suffer because of their own generosity. I wish they had a "branch" somewhere just outside of Phoenix, maybe one around Sedona and maybe another one near Payson. We were unable to book boarding at our normal place as they were full. So we started researching other dog boarding. This one, having been in business over 30 years sounded pretty good. On the website it stated $28 per night. Upon check-in they were unable to find her in the system nor were they able to find the vaccination records I sent. I offered to re-send it from my phone. They said it wasn't necessary and took down her info. When we picked her up on a Monday morning (as they are closed on Sun) after boarding 6 days, we were shocked at the total bill. I said, "I thought it was $28 a night. He said, "oh they raised it to $30 last summer. Now it's $35 but it went up to $40 today because of Spring Break". WHAT?!!! I told him your website says $28. He says "oh their going to change that today". What about the other two price increases??? When were they going to update for those? And, we were told we could have paid an "extra fee" to pickup our dog on Sunday. Nice of them to tell us that after the fact. Poor business practice. Not going back!!! read more

I was up in Prescott for a month and had my dog, Duke with me. There were a couple of occasions where I had to come down to Phoenix for the weekend and needed someone to watch Duke while I was away. I believe my dog to be loyal, but Duke was always 100% willing to leave me when we showed up. I take that as a sign that he really enjoyed his time with the staff here. We dropped off a healthy pet. We got him back, underweight, not eating and with diarrhea despite calling every day to see how he was doing. "Great", "Having fun" was what we were told when we called. When we picked him up we were told that he hadn't eaten for several days and wasn't feeling well. He lost more than 15 percent of his body weight while he was there. How is that 'Great'? Our 2 Labradors have been boarded with DDR in the past. We did not know there has been a change of ownership. When the dogs were dropped off, we gave them a list of their requirements of shots, which were up to date. Last week we returned from vacation with a nightmare with our dogs. My husband picked them and he noticed their breathing was severely labored. We got them to the Vet as soon as possible the next day. Our Vet said they had SEVERE KENNEL COUGH. $260 later, a bunch of medicine, they are finally showing signs getting better. Our Vet said we need to contact DDR so they could sterilize there facilities to stop the spread of the Kennel Cough. We dropped off 2 very healthy dogs and picked up 2 extremely ill dogs. When I called Doggie Dude Ranch, the first thing Larry said was he knew who I was, I was the one with the sick dogs. I requested to speak to the owner. Yes, he called me back. He accused me of bringing in 2 sick dogs to begin with, which was NOT the case. When I told him about sterilizing his kennel he yelled at me and said something to the effect that I did not need to tell him how to clean his kennels. Why were the dogs even accepted IF they were ill? Why did he not call us? Why did he not take them to the Vet? Why did he not call our emergency contact? The conversation was very ugly and he told me that neither me nor our dogs were ever allowed there again. Based upon my conversation with him and our attempt to help him to protect the facility and other animals, you would think he would have been more concerned about our dogs instead of berating me for daring to say our dogs were returned home sick. SO MUCH FOR CONCERN AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Why cant I see the review I made on C bar C doggie Dude Ranch? It has been years since my vacation to England but when I had my dog put into your doggie day care ranch for two weeks I thought for sure he would have a great time but upon my return he did not. We found him out in the play yard closed off in another section by himself. All the other dogs were playing together but him, he was closed off and they said he played to rough. I asked if he was mean with the other dogs and they said no that he was just too hyper. He had been like that for two weeks alone and shut out from socializing. When the other dogs got to play he was put aside to watch. I cant even describe how much it infuriates me that I took my dog here. You advertise that its so fun for them its like a vacation for them when in reality its not. I paid the same amount of money to have my dog here like everyone else, if I wasn't going to be given the same services as everyone else because of by dog being super happy to play with the other dogs and being "hyper" and NOT dangerous then you should test the temperament of every dog before saying you will allow them there. I took my dog there for the exact reason that he WOULDNT be caged up all the time but you failed me and my dog. For two weeks he was like that. There's not a time when I hear about your ranch that I don't think of him being left alone and not allowed to play for two weeks. I guarantee if you would have given him a chance that he would have settled down in 10 min and got into the routine of things. In terms of Dog Psychology I'm sure there was some damage there being separated from the pack like that and I hate the fact that I took my dog here. read more

My dog is always excited to come to the Doggie Dude Ranch for dog-sitting. I brought my dog with me to inspect the kennel prior to leaving him, and the dog received lots of attention and petting while I got to look around. The kennels are clean, spacious, and the dogs obviously receive a lot of attention. My dog has a sensitive stomach and does not like other dogs, and this does not seem to bother the staff at all. We have boarded our Doberman here several times with good results. They are very helpful and accommodating. The kennels are spacious and have easy anytime access to "outside." For our budget, this works fine. Ideally I'd love to see her spend more time in the play yard, and if you want to spend the extra money you can do that for your dog. For our dog the perfect environment is home, but without a pet sitter, this is the next best thing. The employees seem happy to see her, and she always returns in good health. read more

If you're happy that your dog is "no worse for the wear" then maybe you'll be happy with DDR. Most of the girls seem okay. The manager has a terrible attitude. NO, I don't pester them for info. I might call once if I'll be gone more than a week. Was looking for a little more than one word answers as to how my dogs were doing. Seemed like that was way too much trouble for them. I know people (not where I live unfortunately ) who run boarding facilities and they all maintain professional attitudes and pride in what they do. Maintain good communication with the owners and give little feedback sheets when the owners pick up their dogs. Service with a smile not in DDR's vocabulary.
