While I am away, I get frequent updates and pics on how they are doing. But, most of all, I know they are being cared for by someone who loves them just about as much as I do. I am very grateful for her service and the safe environment she provides.

I was in search of a dog walker who was compassionate, well informed, and genuinely passionate about taking care of dogs (to soothe both my dog's anxiety and my own!). The trend these days is to use dog walking apps for supposed convenience and many people recommended these to me - but I had a gut feeling that Frida would benefit most from working with a consistent walker - someone who was interested in getting to know her quirks and to form a relationship that might improve her anxiety while I was at work. After just a couple weeks of daily visits and walks with Kris, Frida stopped chewing her paws completely and continues to appear much happier and more at ease when I come home from work each day. As of this month, we have been working with Kris at CAP for almost 3 months. BONUS - her walking on leash has improved immensely too! And in terms of convenience and correspondence, Kris is easy to reach, easy to talk to, affordable, very knowledgeable about dogs and her business, and provides fun photos and updates about their daily visits as they are happening :) Choosing Capital Area Pups and allowing Frida to build a positive, reliable, fun-loving relationship with Kris has improved her quality of life - what more could one ask for in a dog walker!?

Great services all around...daycare, boarding and grooming. Our dogs come home exhausted from playing so much in a day. Prices are very reasonable and the accommodations are more than ample for all canines. This is an example of some recent amazing care. I was just on vacation for over a week in Europe, with limited ability to communicate with anyone back home. Well the day we leave, one dog gets sick and is in the vet trying to figure out what is wrong, ends up on a special diet and meds. I talked it over with Melissa and she said bring him in anyway..."we got this". Over the course of out trip we got daily reports on our pup and when we got home he was doing much better and was on the mend... Now totally fine. Having that piece of mind while away was great this is just one of the many examples of how great they are. I've had 3 dogs who call this place home away from home and half the time they jump out of the car and kick down the doors to get back in. And 2 of these dogs have been going since they were 8 weeks old.

This is a very nice grooming facility. Very open space - as you enter, you will see groomers grooming dogs to the left (behind a short wall) and the receptionist to the right. Staff is friendly, polite and professional. Facility is clean and fresh-smelling. There is a calming climate in the facility - no barking dogs or loud voices. "Julie" was scheduled to groom my dogs. She did an excellent job. Another cool feature - I went with Julie to retrieve my dogs, and they are not contained in cages yet instead, behind individual glass doors that have little (slightly) raise beds in them! When we entered the hall to the boarding area, I loved seeing both of my darling dogs, perfectly groomed, lying together on that little bed!

The only time they get taken outside is during normal business hours when and if the Kennel Tech is working. I myself have heard the owner tell the nice girl, who is no longer working there, not to worry about going in back to help or let dogs out. The desk is top priority. The prices are ridiculous and I have even heard groomers yelling at the pets on their tables. Megan I believe her name was, poor girl, I swear she lived there. She always took such great care of my dog while he was there. Such great service and care for the pets and clients in my experience. Since she's been gone nothing but terrible service. I would not recommend anyone bring their pet there now.

I'm writing it out of a great feeling of resentment because I believe that I was fed bold-faced lies by the staff in order to push me toward an adoption. The sign on the window said that the cat I was considering was a five year old male. On the Saturday before our adoption, we asked a staff member of the cat's medical history. We were told that the cat had been very timid and was losing some weight, and that it had a distended stomach possibly from worms. That wasn't anything we couldn't handle so we decided to adopt. We wanted a 5 year old male because we had a cat and the two would complement each other well. When we sat down to sign the papers, though, that's when the truth started to come out. At least partial truths. Apparently, the cat had no teeth. We asked why, and they had no answers. It also had a heart murmur. I know the former staff member INTENTIONALLY left this out, because the distended stomach was there with this information. She just straight up left it out! We still went through with the paperwork, and at the end, they informed us that the cat was actually 7 years old. All of these things collectively should have told me to cut and run, but in the end the cat needed a good home, so we followed through with the adoption. A few days later, we took the cat to a vet. The vet informed us that actually the cat was more like 10 years old.... oh, and it was also a girl! So we went from a 5 year old male, to a seven year old male, to a ten year old female. CAHS either has no idea what they're doing, or they are purposely handing out false information in order to get pets adopted, which I'm certain is illegal. I likely won't pursue legal action because I'm sure no one will care, and I obviously will love and care for the pet that I've adopted. But folks should be aware of what's going on here, and be prepared for some deceit. CAHS should face some accountability.
