I'll start off by saying this review is long overdue. We have been bringing our Harley to Arie's since September 2019 when she was 4 months old, and recently just started our second new puppy Max. It's a fantastic and safe place for puppy socialization - Max started after his 2nd set of vaccines. I can honestly say I don't think you will ever find another doggy day care quite like this one. We had initially brought Harley to another day care in ABQ, only to have her overwhelmed and in a corner within 20 minutes. They actually recommended we check out Arie's, and I'm so glad they did. The initial interaction was night and day different, and she has flourished into such a happy playful pup since she started. They really make an effort to know your pup, and know it's not a one size fits all. Harley was great after 1 intro, Max needed 3 before he was ready for a half day playgroup. I can't imagine bringing our pups anywhere else. First off when you walk in, the facility is welcoming, clean (actually smells good!), and not noisy at all. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, and they really do feel like family. I don't know if I can accurately put into words the joy my pups show every time we arrive - entire rears wagging, jumping to get out of the car, pawing at the front door, and running right up to the staff! They truly care for your pup like their own. Having jobs where my husband and I work long hours, it makes a huge difference knowing our pups are happy, well taken care of, and wonderfully exhausted when they come home. And not only is this doggy day care, we also enjoy that they offer grooming, pet food, and treats! It's very convenient to drop your pup off for all day play and have them clean and fluffy after a grooming session when they come home! We also just started training sessions with Arie for Max, and having used a different trainer for Harley, I wish we had just switched to Arie at the time. Her expertise in dog training is VERY noticeable, and we feel so fortunate to be working with her. read more

After doing my research I went to Arie's Dogland to talk with them and have my pup do a play date/evaluation. My pup was on the older end of the recommended age to participate in the puppy obedience course when unfortunately I had to cancel the first class, which was essential for completing the course. When I called to let them know, their first consideration was to make sure my pup got the attention needed and thatI got the best alternate option and value. Arie offered to do a one-on-one session at my home. To say she is terrific is an understatement. A good listener, she came prepared with practical specific suggestions that targeted to our needs. She left me with a list of ideas that I was able to implement immediately, and to great success. I highly recommend Arie and her staff! I'm new to town and was looking for a groomer for my fur baby. She's always been apprehensive going to any groomer and acts like she's can't leave soon enough (practically climbs me at the hand-over... I found Arie's Dogland on Yelp (excellent reviews) and thought it would be great to have a one-stop-shop for daycare, food, and grooming. Due to COVID-19, Mahina (fur baby) hadn't been groomed in months (!) so I made an appointment for the day after I blew into town. They were so great about receiving her records via email from her previous vet office (I certainly couldn't find anything in the mountain of boxes). So finally the day arrives and I drop her off bright and early. My first impression of Arie's Dogland was relaxed...serene even. Granted it was early and not as busy as it would get later in the day but there were 30 to 40 other dogs there (I asked) and it was quiet. Crazy. Once I was checked in (very nice woman, but can't remember her name) I was introduced to Ruby, Mahina's groomer for the day. She was very nice as well and Mahina went to her without hesitation...she loves new people and attention. Ruby and I had a short conversation about cut preferences and I was on my way. Easy peasy. About an hour later I received a text stating Mahina would be ready for pickup in about 20 minutes. Love the efficiency! When I arrived to pick up the fur baby, it was still quiet and relaxed though there were more staff and dogs milling about. Ruby brought Mahina out and she looked so adorable! Ruby did an amazing job, telling me everything went fine except Mahina wouldn't let her grind her front nails...but I was surprised that Ruby was able to use the grinder at all! The most telling thing was that Mahina wasn't desperate to get to me and leave. She was excited but not frantic while I paid her bill and made another appointment...OBVIOUSLY! Now we're going to try their day care services for sure. I honestly believe that you and your fur baby will find Arie's Dogland a safe and fun home-away-from-home. PS--I do think Mahina and I could benefit from some training classes too... read more

Dogland has an excellent groomer! Jade has cut my dog's hair many times! My dog is a mini doodle, and Jade cuts her hair perfectly! Jade will cut my dog's hair to my requests. I get many compliments about my dog's looks, and I know it is due to Jade's excellent work! Arie helped us get a handle on our recently adopted, 2 year old Australian Shepherd's dog aggression.Yesterday our dog played peacefully with 40+ dogs. It was truly exciting (for both of us). I was feeling so defeated, and I wasn't convinced that this result was possible after our our initial session with Arie, but I'm so glad we followed through with her training methods and suggestions (i.e. working with Canine Country Club to socialize our dog slowly). She is well on her way to being an all around awesome (and socialized!) family dog. Arie was extremely knowledgeable and enjoyable to work with. She brought along her German Shepherd to help demonstrate techniques on redirecting our dog. The hour went by too quickly, but with the tools she gave us, we have been making great strides. The only reason this review is only 4, rather than 5, stars, is that we are planning for a final appointment with Arie to make sure we have fully mastered this issue. At which time I'm sure I will be a full 5 star believer. I would highly recommend Arie to help with whatever dog issues you may be struggling with. Late last year my wife and I brought a new bundle of joy into our home, a little yellow lab puppy named Bella. We wanted to find a trainer in ABQ who specialized in both training and socializing puppies, and Arie and her team came highly recommended by friends of ours. Arie did not disappoint! Simply the best training experience we have ever had, and the puppy day care and early socialization experience that Bella had with Arie and her team was invaluable. Great care is taken by the Dogland team to slowly expose new puppies to both other puppies and small dogs, and then to carefully expose them to larger dogs. Every puppy is evaluated as to their level of comfort or fear of other dogs, and no puppy is placed in a play area that causes them too much anxiety. Bella was so excited to go to Dogland daycare that she would spin in circles just at the mention of Arie's name. My friend and I signed up for Arie's puppy class and attended two classes before being asked not to return. My friend happens to work at a similar business in town and Arie claimed that she and her staff believed us participating in the class was too much of a conflict of interest. We were not asked any questions and were not given any alternative options, just told not to return to class. My dog LOVES Arie's!! So much so that I can barely contain here when she is getting out of the car in the morning! Also, when I bring her home at night, she is SO pooped from playing all day and my husband and I can rest because she goes for her evening walk and then tucks herself into bed. We brought my pup over from Dogtopia, where she was previously established when we lived on the Westside of town and she adjusted to Arie's after about 2 visits. Behaviorally, she has evolved in that she no longer has shyness/fear of interacting with other dogs, not even those that are larger than her. She has learned to stand up for herself rather than being submissive to other dogs. She is a chihuahua with so much confidence now and she is complemented for her behavior when she goes to the vet. My wife and I used Arie for dog training, and she was absolutely wonderful! We have a couple of rez dogs (strays we found on a Native American reservation) that were great in the wild outdoors, but not so great in larger crowds and on the leash. We wanted to have them in our wedding, and with just a couple of sessions and some great feedback over email, Arie helped us immensely with their nerves in cities and around crowds. She had instant rapport with the dogs, helped us redirect them and reward their good behavior, and gave us homework in between sessions that really helped out. She was absolutely instrumental in having them be calm enough and taking direction well enough to be part of our wedding, and they still have wonderful manners! read more

I had a training session with Arie and her dog Sarge to work on my dog's aggression issues. The session went really well, and Arie was relaxed and helpful the entire time. She spent a lot of time going over my dog's history and behavior issues and then made really thorough recommendations based on what she'd learned and observed. The pooch and I are just starting to implement her suggestions, but I can already see that they're effective, and I'm hoping that she'll continue to improve. Arie Deller is a highly-regarded dog trainer who just opened up her own doggy daycare (where she also holds her training classes). It is close to UNM (where I work) and has separate play groups for small dogs and puppies and the facility is completely indoors. What I like about Arie's is that the dogs are given a 90 minute nap at midday, and then play up until they are picked up by their owners. This is perfect for my very active dog. I met Arie when my dog and I took her Basic Obedience class and was impressed with how well she understands dog behavior. I am glad Arie has opened this facility and that it is so close to my work and home. Highly recommended to dog owners (like me) who are very picky about who can care for their four-legged friend. read more

The experiences we have had at Arie's are invaluable! We have been going to Arie's for puppy training classes and puppy play group and both my husband and I and our puppy love it! The staff is so professional and knowledgable and we feel comfortable leaving our puppy with them all day when we have to work because we know she is having a blast with the other dogs and getting lots of love and attention. Our shiba pup Saku attended Arie's Dogland's puppy training and it was an excellent start to her obedience training and socialization. Saku got along great with staff, and I always felt safe leaving her there for puppy daycare once a week. Staff are sweet, attentive, organized, and passionate about pups. I find that they are also very considerate of positively reinforcing Saku for good behavior and that helps me immensely with continuing to train Saku. I no longer live in Albuquerque, which is a shame because I wish I could keep using their daycare services. Aries is amazing! Arie came to our home to help us get ready for a new puppy (safety..introducing to older pets..what to expect ..everything!!). Super smart and kind and patient. Throughout the 7 week sessions she stresses how very important socialization is for the puppy to meet lots of people and lots of puppies who are non- aggressive. Arie came to our home recently to help our dog with some obedience issue. In one hour she gave us all the tools to help us retrain our dog. By that evening he was responding to the "wait" command and being less demanding with us and domineering with our other dog. Wow! Where can I begin? My expreience with Arie's Dogland has been fantastic! I have participated in the Puppy obedience 1 and 2 classes at Arie's in addition to the Puppy playgroup they offer, and I have learned so much! The training courses are high quality and focused on training your dog with positive reinforcement instead of punishment or demands.In addition Arie and her staff can answer many other questions and explain dog behavior and suggest techniques and general tips to improve their behavior, quality of life, and interactions with other dogs and people. The obedience 2 instructor, Steffi, is also amazing and knowledgeable! You can tell she really understands dogs and how their brains work and can provide an added layer of training that really helps you and your dog truly understand training on a deeper level! You can really tell that every employee and trainer here actually cares about your dog and wants them to succeed! I have had so much help from the staff at the desk and in the puppy playgroups as well. My dog has also become very comfortable and confident around other dogs since being able to properly socialize in a controlled environment at Arie's Dogland! If you are considering getting a puppy, or already have a dog, you should give them a call and discuss your needs! I would say the earlier the better, because a lot of classes fill up fast, and you also have to make sure you dog has proper shots/fecal before they can participate in anything (which can take a week or two if anything comes back on the vet exam). They really do try to ensure that you and your dog will have a happy and healthy experience at Arie's Dogland and if that is not possible, they also offer private lessons and reactive dog courses to assist with issues your dogs might have in a safer and less stressful way! Their website does not necessarily list all classes or offerings, but if you call/email/visit them they can definitely explain info/costs and figure out what they offer that can best fit your needs. In addition to all the training and courses they offer, they also do sell high quality food, toys, and gear for your dog! They can also educate you on what proper dietary needs are for your dog and help you make the best healthy choices for your pet! Great place, great staff! Go to Arie's Dogland! Love this place!! We got a puppy in early July and the first two weeks were even harder than we expected. I found Arie's Dogland online and what a resource and relief! We take our puppy to daycare and it has been amazing. She is so much more social and almost immediately stopped nipping at us (her puppy peers at playgroup must have set her straight almost right away regarding her nipping). We were so pleased with Arie! I reached out to her for help when trying to add a cat to our "family" of three dogs. One of the dogs was NOT happy about it and thought we had brought the kitty home for her to chase. I appreciated Arie's honesty when she let me know that it could be a difficult road, and she really helped to manage my expectations. She had a great approach, asking thoughtful questions to really pinpoint the issue. Then she worked with us and showed us some helpful techniques which I still use. She is definitely very knowledgeable, and I also appreciated how warm and friendly she is. We also used them for puppy play group which helped tremendously with socializing our very timid dog. She is now confident and happy after her training class with Arie, and puppy play group.
