We took our long haired German Shepard to get a bath and a trim around her butt if they felt like it was necessary (we couldn't have been more specific on what we wanted, including saying "do not cut anywhere else on her". When we arrived hours later to pick her up, we realized they had shaved her entire body (except her tail) and when asked about it, all they could say was there was a "miscommunication" and that they would give us our money back. We were still furious. We posted an update in our breeders Facebook group and our breeder called us immediately and said that he has never seen a groomer do this to a dual-coated dog. Not only is this just bad to do aesthetically, it is also potentially bad for our dogs health because their coat helps them to regulate their body temperature (in the cold AND heat). We were extremely surprised at the clear knowledge gap this place had given they have a commercial grooming business, however after this occasion, we heard of them doing the same to other, similarly dual coated dogs. Again, the manager was quick to refund us and apologetic, but wanted to post this as a warning to others who may be thinking about getting their dual coated dog groomed here. From the research we have done, there is a chance that our dogs coat will not grow back properly, which is unfortunate. Jun and the entire DOGMA team is fantastic and genuinely loves your dog as well as you. Our pup has epilepsy and had one of his first seizures at daycare. At a very stressful time, they were very calm and supportive, giving both me and my pup the care and attention we both needed. When I got to the facility, they immediately let me upstairs where they have a staff member attending to him. I received messages from multiple members of the staff that day checking in on him. The amount of love, care and attention they gave to him as well as the continued support they have given to us in caring for him is something we truly appreciate. Yogi has boarded at daycare and my colleagues and I regularly watch the PupCam for a break during the day. I am always happy to see the staff constantly interacting with the dogs and cleaning up after them to ensure sanitary conditions. We continue to take our pup to DOGMA twice a week, as we have for the past 2 years - and cannot wait to bring him back once they area able to reopen their doors! read more

I am extremely disappointed, upset, and sickened by the care my dog received at Dogma NYC. Not only did my dog come home with kennel cough and covered in urine, but I was horrified when I watched the video cam during an agility class and saw him being hit twice and shoved by the so-called trainer. To make matters worse, I had signed my dog up for two agility classes, and when I logged in to watch on the video cam, he wasn't even in class--they forgot him! This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and inexcusable for a business that claims to care for animals. I trusted them to provide a safe and nurturing environment, but instead, my dog was mistreated, abused, and neglected. I would never recommend this place to anyone who truly cares about their dog. This is the worst daycare service in the city!! DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG HERE. I have 2 french bulldogs and used to take them here, i will never again! They do not care about the dogs nor the clients only want your money! Your dog is better off ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE! The manager is INCREDIBLY RUDE with major attitude problem!!! Anytime i went to pick up my 2 dogs and asked the staff about their day and how they behaved and about the walks they are supposed to get no ome had amy answers.. totally clueless and sketchy also they never let you upstairs to actually see whats going on unless you ate new and they want your business. There are multiple other daycare services close by that are amazing where dogs get treated with love and have fun and the staff is friendy and knowledgeable! read more

Natural light, extremely clean, superb staff, huge and conveniently located all describe DOGMA perfectly. I have known Jun, the owner, and her furbabies, Koharu and Koyuki for a long time and knew before it opened how well it would be run. DOGMA offers a full-service daycare/boarding/grooming experience whose staff love their dog clients and treat them as if they were their own. When I leave my dog, Bridgette, in anyone else's hands, trust is paramount. You can trust your dog will be in excellent care at DOGMA, and will come home happy, loved and beautifully groomed (should you have fantastic Shiro groom your pup). This review is so long overdue. Five stars is not enough. We brought our dog Jack here for a year before moving away and we got so spoiled! This place is FANTASTIC for dogs and for people :) The staff is so friendly and attentive, it smells amazing (Our dog would come home literally smelling good), the space is so clean and pretty, and their grooming services are awesome. I never felt badly leaving Jack here as I knew he was having fun and was safe. We were all so sad to leave Dogma and Jack misses going to daycare and playing with the staff and his doggy friends. This place is the best. Blows all other doggy daycares out of the water. Period! read more

Truly the only place in New York i'd even consider leaving my dog. It's cage free meaning my dog will sleep comfortably and feel at home. They always have give her an incredible amount of attention. DOGMA's owners and employees also make sure to really get to know the dogs and their owners. I cannot tell you the amount of times they have been able to accommodate last minute adjustments or changes to my dog's daycare or boarding schedule. Lastly, they always provide so many updates on my pup. Theres a reason my dog always sprints to DOGMA's door, her tail wagging with excitement! read more

DOGMA is paradise for dogs! All the staff is savvy about dogs' life, reactions, nutrition, playtime, etc... my dog has always the best experience there as well as the best groomer! My dog is always so happy after a stay (long or short) at DOGMA that I never feel bad to leave him there. The place is sparkling clean, peaceful and playful at the same time. I have been looking for a good daycare for my dog while I am at work and Dogma is the place. From the friendly staff to the cleanliness of the place. My dog absolutely loves it!!! He is a bigger dog (60lbs) and gets along with all the dogs their. Not only do they play and board they take them on walks too which is nice rather then leaving them indoors all day. 5 stars easily for me on this one!!! Wow, dogma exceeded my expectations. It looked clean and spacious when I peaked in, but it's even more than that. Tons of space to play, but also cozy spots to nuzzle. The pack leaders are the most international, cosmopolitan, and queer crew, making me want to stay and gang out all day too!
