Halloween evening I went here with my young daughter as the food is good and she loves the atmosphere and the ability to play games. We were told to sit where we like and my child picked a corner table. Just after the food came, all at once mind you including appetizers and entrees the manager girl comes to tell us that they made a mistake sitting is where they did and wanted us to move ourselves to another table. I politely asked them to move us since we didn't make any mistake and it's very rude to sit someone, give them food, and then ask them to gather up all of that and move themselves at your request because you want them to. She looked at me like I was offending her and half hearted started to say that they would help us move but then stopped and said that we could stay at the table just as long as we were gone by 6:30. J spent ten years in the restaurant business and never would I ever even consider that level of arrogance, rudeness, or flat out ignorance as a choice when speaking to customers. If you can't treat your customers fairly, with dignity, and honesty then shut your doors and take your games home! read more

My big, fluffy fur baby and I met my brother and his friend on the patio for lunch today and we had a great time. The food was a hit, the patio and games were top notch, but the absolute best part was how amazing the staff was. One of the many friendly staff members brought over my pup a full water bowl when dropping our drinks off, which was so thoughtful. We also had multiple people check in on us often (not overly so where it became annoying) and overall were attentive and seemed like they were working as a team. Okay, okay.... so to get the WHOLE experience you need to eat inside this establishment - prefacing this review like this, to start. I think the ambiance of what's inside would probably add to the experience of the food, especially if you are a gamer of any sort. (I am.) So now that I've said what I said...let's move on to the food. As usual, my order was take out though it was a last minute decision and only because (maybe I just saw it for the first time?) they had "thick cut fries" AKA steak fries. This made my little heart happy and thus the decision to try this place was complete. Here is what I ordered: Mains: The Doberman - No Sweet Heat Pickles, Add Cheese, Ketchup and Mustard on the Side The Redshirt - Thin Crust Memaw's Kitchen Chicken Sandwich Sides and Apps: Mac and Cheese (for my Doberman Side) Thick Cut Fries #1 (for the Memaw Side) Thick Cut Fries #2 (For me) Chib Nibs (Pretzel Bites) Southern Slaw Extra: Dog Mustard Ketchup Honey Mustard How did they do with special requests? Perfect, really. Everything was neatly packaged and was hot or cold as it was supposed to have been. No complaints. Did they give "extras"? They loaded me up on sides of condiments and on packets of salt, pepper, and parm as well as cutlery packets. How about the food? Starting with "The Redshirt", that was the first thing I sank my teeth into and although it is NOT the best pizza you'll ever have in your life, it is about the same quality as a Domino's pizza when you happen to get a REALLY good Domino's pizza. The crust was not crisp and it was mushy due to how they laid the pizza out at the bottom of the bag, inside of the pizza box, but it was still a solidly delicious pizza. It looked much bigger than the 6-inch I thought I was getting and I was two slices in before I managed to carb control myself and save the rest for later. This would be a 3.5-star pizza that MAY be 4 if you get it super hot and IN the establishment. I will be going back for this. I got the Doberman which was a Nathan's hot dog in a "homemade bun". I covered it in caramelized onions, and cheese, and held the sweet heat pickles. This was a solid hot dog, the bun was moist and because it sat in the packaging felt microwaved though it wasn't. I had a few bites of this and dunked it in the mustard, and was a happy girl. This hot dog is HUGE so come hungry and try not to eat pizza before you take a bite but DO take the bite. Solid 3.5 stars. Reports on the Memaw Chicken Sandwich is that this one was a keeper and that many restaurants don't know how to make a good chicken sandwich. This one, however, looked clean and crisp and apparently tasted good but could use a bit more flavor. They gave this a 3.5 star but I am amping it up to 4 because frankly, it looked FRESH from the cookery to the vegetables. The sides were literally not much to write home about. The steak fries were flavorless but they were fries. Wee. The coleslaw is not a "southern" coleslaw. Sorry guys, not sure how this is considered "Southern" but this is literally the coleslaw you get at every seafood restaurant on the upper East Coast in New England. Literally the.same.one. It was fine and tasted fresh but had no real discernable flavor. The Mac and Cheese was a weirdly black peppery one and I couldn't eat it so everyone else did. The bite I had had decent flavor but reminded me of panera bread's mac. Solid 3 stars. The pretzel bites were tough, chewy, microwaved? Maybe. 1 star. Overall, this was a success! Support this business because it's more than decent food, it looks fun, it's different, and I think if you are IN the restaurant and having fun you are going to love it. This is such a cool place! The atmosphere was great, the menu was perfect, and service was top notch. Everything had a quirky name that was a reference and I loved it. I got the Texas Cheesesaw Massacre with fries and my girlfriend got the Hogmud with mac and cheese. My sandwich was alright, a bit too much cheese, but the fries were perfectly salted and crispy. Her burger was good but the mac and cheese needed some seasoning. For drinks, I got the eeveelution which was great but a little too sweet for me. She got the Nuka Quantum which was too bitter for her taste. Overall I'd definitely come back, I'd just order different things. read more

It's been a while since I've been to the Tavern. Still an awesome place, actually getting awesomer (is that a word, I'm making it a word). Tonight I got to not only enjoy some new items on the menu, and old faves, but I was thoroughly entertained by a special event from Uproar Theatre Company: The Tipsy Bard Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor. I admire and appreciate Dogmud's commitment to support our community. It's not just something they talk about, but they do it. They give people with varied interest from the arts to games, a place to get together and enjoy what they love. Overall: (4.75/5) Service: (5/5) Sonny, Caden, Heidi, Joe, the whole gang (names I can't remember- sorry) you're all awesome! Even with an unusual setup with the play going on, they made it work. Technology: (5/5) New category. Deemed worthy of recognition! They used Toast Tab unique table QR codes for ordering silently throughout the play. For me it worked perfectly. They know what they are doing for sure and were prepared! My nerdy self loved this! Environment: (5/5) The patio has a painted floor that's one of the game boards (D6) from Certifiable Studio, a local gaming company, so it's unique and local. Also beautiful artwork. It's comfy too! Even with some rain around us and a little traffic, it wasn't too loud. Love the new patio!!! Food: (4/5) Everything I had, I enjoyed. What I had tonight: Hungry Hero: Always simply amazing. This time I tried the sausages with the pimento cheese...um y'all it was soooo good. (Pictured) The Butter Beer: their drinks are always on point. Not too sweet, not too butter. Harry Potter needs an ID to drink this one though. An old fave! (Pictured) Isle of Shrimp - A quesadilla with shrimp, monterey and cheddar cheese, onions and green bell peppers. - I just love dipping this in their Chipotle Ranch. The White Flag - their version of a French dip. Smoked Brisket, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, caramelized onions (pictured sandwich had these nixed), on gambino's Italian Poboy bread, au jus for dipping and a side of tater tots. (pictured) My friend ordered this, but it smelled and looked delicious, and it was loaded with ingredients. I love a nice full sandwich! I'm def going to need to try this next time! Stark Tamales - Tony's Tamales (lol Stark). These are always good, but Tony gets 100% of the credit. However Dogmud takes the credit for having it on their menu! I'll order it everytime! (not pictured) Not pictured drinks with friends... You won't find a better place in town with the quality or variety to entertain your drinking whims. The bartenders can whip up almost anything so I had a custom drink a friend concocted, but here's what I had from the menu: Critical Roll - you roll a D20 and you get the shot number you roll (pay a $1 extra to reroll to cross your fingers on this one). No worries you save if you roll on fate. Even if you have to reroll a couple of times. Hero's Start (Rolled 3) Jameson, Orange juice, Butterscotch Schnapps - it tasted like breakfast. This place is nothing short of awesome, modeled after a tavern straight out of your favorite fantasy novel (think JRR Tolkien not EL James))! The menu is extensive and the food was very good. The service was also above par. You can just stop and eat as my family and I did on our way to NOLA, or if you and your friends are into gaming their library of RPG, card and traditional family games is extensive. Or you can bring your own and use their gaming tables. They also have video consoles if that is your thing. Just a fun place with great food. If you enjoy gaming/cosplay/role-play/anime, you'll love this tavern. Definitely has an abundance of ambiance. The food was pretty good and for the most part very reasonably priced. All of their burgers are in the $20 range, but I thought everything else was well-priced. Our party of four all enjoyed our entrees (brisket sandwich, quesadilla, hot dog, and vegetable plate). None of us fit the demographic they appeal to, but that didn't stop us from having an enjoyable meal. Definitely worth a visit! read more

It's very rare nowadays to have a completely satisfactory experience from start to finish. When I called, they were amazing on phone at offering suggestions and taking my order. When I came to pick up my food, the place was PACKED but wasn't loud. I had to circle a few times for a parking space. But to come in and still be treated like I'm the only customer there was amazing. They immediately greeted me, knew I was coming, and providing everything I needed to make my take out experience great. Glad I trusted the recommendations of the person I spoke to because the wings were amazing and honestly being baked wings just added to the juiciness of the wings. Fall off the bone. We really loved the atmosphere of this place! The food was just okay. Our waiter was pretty inattentive, we had to flag him down any time we needed anything because he didn't check on us other than to take our order. We liked all of the board games they had for us to play while we waited on our food. Even though the service was less than optimal and the food wasn't fantastic we would probably go back and try it again just because we really enjoyed the games and gaming atmosphere as a family. read more

This was such a fun place! We had a pepperoni pizza, pretzel bites and tamales. We liked everything. My daughter loved sitting at the table with video games. The restaurants theme is fun especially if you like board games. They have a huge selection of games and they have stickers indicating the difficulty level. Wow! We LOVE this place. The decor, the games, the music, the service, the ambiance, and the food could not be better!! From the old Nintendo game stations to the variety of seating indoors and outdoor we immediately felt like we were home, but a trendier home. Our waitress was very friendly and welcoming. She let us peruse the fun menu that was filled with tasty options and fun background about the place. Our food came so quick and we were happy with our selections. Very unique setting and theme. This restaurant/bar is one of a kind I belive in the area. Staff is super friendly and seat you almost immediately. The menue is actually pretty big and provides a variety of pizza, sandwiches, and other various items under some clever names. The drink menu that they have is pretty unique and charming with various names including from the Harry Potter franchise. A very pleasant and laid back atmosphere one I'd say is perfect for a date or a friends night out. read more

This restaurant showed up when I googled "best cocktails near me" So we thought we would give it a try. We were a little reluctant to go to a gamer bar, but it turned out really nice. The drinks were good and we had a hamburger which was good also. The atmosphere was relaxed and several people were playing some sort of games on their different tables. There was trivia on the back porch with karaoke to come.all in all it was a better experience than we expected and I will probably go back for trivia or karaoke. read more

This place is the place to be. The servers are very down to earth and friendly, and even though they're usually handling several tables, they check on us as often as possible. The best part is definitely the board game library. Everything from Apples to Apples and scrabble, to exploding kittens and hero quest. They also have some Nintendo game cubes and comfy couches to sit at. They have several weekly events so keep an eye out for those; they're so fun! The was average at best, but the staff was friendly and attentive. Explaining this restaurant to someone would maybe be dungeon and dragons club opened a gastropub. It is cool, but different vibe. Dogmud is a different experience altogether. This was a great First Date place!!!! The wait-staff and management are all very friendly and engaging. Most tables have enough space to spread out and play the game of your choice, with some specialty tables for hard core board/card gamers. They have a great stockpile of board games to choose from or you can bring your own. Even if you only have time to eat, it's a great atmosphere and good food. Definitely a must-try!!! You might turn into a regular, dragging all your friends with you. I mentioned above it was a first date... and what fun to play board games while getting to know someone new! Food quality, wait staff, and atmosphere was far greater than any other restaurant I've visited during this weeklong work trip to Ridgeland, MS. The decor and menu was most interesting; I didn't take time to fully grasp the theme of the decor, but it relates to board games manufactured by the parent company. Great trivia and really great food. It's a fun atmosphere and pretty much anyone can enjoy it to some extent. The only downside is it can be a little costly. The Thursday night trivia is still the best in town as far as I'm concerned. They have fun events pretty often, usually they're themed (Halloween or Valentine's Day for example) and they make good and creative drinks as well.
