I picked up my puppy who was confirmed as "emaciated" by the attached vet letter, with multiple wounds, a bacterial rash, with the owner Matt telling me the "care team" didn't feed him enough. He LOST weight as a tiny puppy, which is completely unacceptable. I paid $4,000 to have my dog returned to me like this, but hooray that he learned how to sit? Seriously unfathomable--this was my worst nightmare come true. Take your dog ANYWHERE but here. No resolution was ever offered on their behalf and they were awful to communicate with. Buyer beware! Spent a lot of money on a big disappointment. It's a shame we must write this review, but we felt we needed to share this experience. Our dog Raven Storm went for a 6-week board and train master's degree at Dogology University, located in Canton, Michigan.  Everything seemed promising when we went to the evaluation. At that time, we advised the owner of our dog's issues (separation anxiety, aggressive behavior towards other animals and people). We were seeking help, and with how this program was explained, we thought this would be a great fit. However, our concerns were not fully addressed, nor has his behavior changed. We are not saying he didn't learn or improve with some things (sitting, laying down, place, and walking). We've seen small changes but not what we expected from the 6-week program or what they told us would be addressed. When reviewing the YouTube videos they sent us, we noticed that the trainers were young and lacked some training skills. When we asked if the trainers had to be certified, we were told no, but they had to undergo some training themselves. We were also told that we would receive progress reports in the morning and afternoon. We received a couple for the afternoon sessions but nothing in the morning. We heard that his morning reports were not good. If this was the case, it was not brought to our attention.  A supervisor then asked us if they could change how our dog was fed (change to 3 times a day - can and dry food mix). We agreed because the way it was explained, it would be best for our dog (make him food driven). Later we found out that he wasn't being fed three times a day as they suggested and that our dog's food was being given to other dogs. When we advised the owner of this, he asked the supervisor if he had made this feeding change, and the supervisor lied and said he did not tell us this. However, we had a witness in the room who heard him suggest that the dog's feedings change. We spent a lot of money on food and treats to accommodate the change. To know that your dog is not being fed or the food is being used for other dogs, it's not right. We also heard that the dogs might only be trained 3 to 4 times a day. Why even board the dog? If the dog is only trained 3- or 4-times a day, what are they doing the rest of the time? The answer is that they are stuck in a kennel, waiting to do something. This is a waste of time for the dog. We brought these matters to the owner, whom we found not sympathetic towards our concerns. We didn't even receive an apology from him for our disappointments. You would think that you would want your clients to be satisfied. This wasn't the case. We spent $5,800.00 on this 6-week program, and the dog doesn't even get a graduation certificate at the end of the program. We took our dog to PetSmart when he was younger, and they at least gave you a certificate of completion and even took his picture with a graduation cap. Dogology University is not worth the $5,800.00 price tag that we spent. We suggest you shop elsewhere unless you want to waste your money. Not a good experience at this place, and we would never recommend them to anyone. read more

Love Dogology! My pup was anxious and acting out w fear aggression. What a turn around! He is more confident and well trained. I loved the Friday "parent training" so we know what to practice during our weekends together. The daily videos were helpful for us to know the day's lesson. The daily reports and communication with his professor was appreciated. Worth every penny. read more

I put Ned my Morkie in for the 4 week program. Ned is reactive towards other dogs and has a way of not listening to my commands. They did a fine job of training him but I still needed work. Ned and I go to the alumni class once a week and Stuart has taught me that an old dog(me) can be taught . Ned is not perfect but we both are a work in progress. I actually took Ned for a play date with my friends cocker spaniel (Abby )and he had a great time. read more

Was not happy with the training that my dog and I received, the trainers are not certified. Even though they say they are focused based they are treat based as well. I mentioned the problem that I was having with my puppy when I would either taker her out for a walk or taker her outside to go potty and that was when I would take either take a stick or bark out of her mouth how she would get upset and jump up and growl and tear my coat; I even showed them what she did to my coat and they said she's just playing, in reality that is not acceptable behavior and was told to tell her to sit, give her a treat or something to distract her, by doing that you are reinforcing bad behavior. I would not recommend this place, save your money. Also my brother who is retired military ended up looking up this place and the owner couldn't have done some of the things he said he did as he would have needed a lot of clearance with the military. Canton......DO NOT send your dog here unless you want them to be able to sit lie down and place for over $4000, be kept in a crate or dorm as they call it for all but less than 15 minutes a day if they're lucky. My dog, a Brittany spaniel already knew how to do all of those commands. All I wanted was her to be able to walk on a leash. They promised That would not be a problem. 4 1/2 weeks later on the last day at my review to pick her up, she pooped and peed, and was uncontrollable in owner training room. They also want you to sign form stating that they are not responsible for the health of your dog and that the money is upfront before you start full and nonrefundable after the first day please read carefully. I thought it would be worth the money to teach my dog to walk on a leash, which is all I wanted from them. She already knew how to do everything else, but I have cancer and had a broken leg and wanted a dog that I could walk on a leash. Would definitely recommend against working with Matt. I have worked with him for 2 sessions and 1 consult at this point. I bought a package of 8 for a discounted rate. During the end of the second official session, my dog had a stress induced seizure. Matt panicked, and backed out of our boarding agreement. That was fine, I understood. But he also offered a refund for the remaining sessions at that point, as my dog was clearly too sick to continue. I said lets hold off on that and try getting him on meds to reduce the anxiety, and see where we can go from there. My dog has not improved and I am working with his vet to get him on Prozac. It takes 4-6 weeks to kick in, and I asked Matt for a refund for now in case I don't come back to training after. He said absolutely, but then said he doesn't usually give refunds when we are 4 sessions in and he already bought an e-collar for $315. I Googled the collar, and it actually costs $179. So I reminded him we were only 2 sessions in and asked for a receipt for the collar to make sure it was that price. I still do not have the receipt and his response is now that he will not give me a refund for my $1300. I am upset, but I will leave personal feelings out of it. I just want to put this review out because I wish I had seen some to know better before I took this plunge and bought the package. I won't even comment on the quality of the training; that is subjective and depends on the dog. But, I would not recommend this business, but I definitely recommend against trusting him enough to buy the package deal. If, God forbid, your dog gets sick and you cannot continue for whatever reason, he will not work with you or understand. You are stuck. My options now are to try to finish the remaining sessions, but if my dog continues to decline in health during the sessions, I will have to take that loss. Be warned. UPDATE: I added a star because after the reviews, Matt has agreed to refund me $375. I think that is the best resolution we were going to come to. read more
