Promising but could use a couple of adjustments From what I understand, this business started as a cart and worked its way up to this brick and mortar restaurant. That's awesome! I love that and congratulate the owners. I had a torta, Jamaica and some sips of horchata. Here's what I thought: Torta - 7/10. I ordered it without meat and sensed some judgment for that, but whatever. The bread was good as were the veggies, but they're kind of stingy with their portions here. I wish they put more beans and veggies inside the torta, because it was all good Jamaica - 3/10. It tasted old and was difficult to drink tbh. I love Jamaica, but this one tasted like it had been sitting out for a bit. The horchata was much, much better and was a total 10/10. I'd recommend getting that instead There's plenty of parking outside, so you won't have to fuss about that

Couldn't decide on what to have for dinner, so me and my sister and I decided to try this place for taco Tuesday. The workers were very friendly and welcomed us when we came in. The woman that took our order asked if it was our first time in and we told her it was. We had driven pass the restaurant a few days before and said we needed to stop in one day. I ordered 2 chicken tacos, a quesobirria taco, a carnitas taco, and a carne asada taco. The carne asada taco was the best. The steak was very tender and flavorful. They have a fatty burrito that I want to go back and try. All of the toppings were individually packaged for the carry-out order.

The best hidden gem in Mesa!!! Was around the area and this came up on my maps search for food. It did not disappoint! I'm so glad I went in. I ordered the carne asada fries and let me tell you it was the best carne asada fries I have ever tasted! Right next to the lil Cesar's you will not be disappointed. Thank you to Arturo and Orlando for the amazing service and being so kind. Will be back for sure.

I've been looking for an incredible authentic bacon wrapped Sonoran hot dog for a while, and I found it here! I got the original hot dog and my boyfriend got the Gordo hot dog. The original was bacon wrapped with onions and tomatoes. The Gordo has all that AND cream cheese and mozzarella on it. I'm glad I got the original so I could fill my craving, but i absolutely loved the cream cheese and mozzarella added. I'll definitely get it next time! The carna asada taco was good. Nothing memorable. My boyfriend got the birria quesadilla on flour, but they made it on corn tortillas... and we didn't want to return the order. It was ok. We think it would've been better with flour. It came with a dipping sauce and my boyfriend loved that there was birria dipping sauce. Overall - we loved loved loved the hot dogs. We will be back for those!

Fabulous food and service! Open on NYD, this hard-working restaurant was the perfect place for a post-soccer snack. Fresh and made-to-order, we had their "specials": street tacos, an el Gordo (hot dog) and an asada quesadilla. Their homemade horchata was also perfectly sweetened. Will def recommend and want to come back again and again!

Al Pastor Taco Grilled Chicken Taco

The restaurant was clean and easily lit up. I liked that you can see your food being made if you're standing up. The food was made fresh to order as we ordered it which was great! The staff were welcoming and even gave us recommendations and told us what's popular. We ordered a medium jamaica, two original hot dogs with a side of fries, two chicken tacos and two al pastor tacos! The hot dogs had crispy bacon, guacamole, mayo, tomatoes, and grilled onions which all came together for a good bite. The al pastor was so juicy and flavorful, the chicken was good too but the al pastor was my favorite. They gave us mini baggies of cucumber, lemons, onion, cilantro and then green and red salsa. If you love spice do the red it definitely burns, the green was a perfect amount of spice. We also got a jamaica which was refreshing and had a good amount of sweetness. I would definitely come here again!

Is a hot dog a taco? Is a taco a sandwich? Is a hot dog a sandwich!?! Hot dog and tacos are not sandwiches, okay? Fight me on this. My Yelp homie in Las Vegas, Chris V. (go add him!) had sent me an Instagram post that I can get a free BOGO sub at Firehouse for having the Name of the Day. I had fully planned on getting a tasty sub but as soon as I got out of the car, the tantalizing smell of grilled meats from Dogos Y Tacos El Gordo next door had me skipping into their establishment instead. No regrets. Since it was also Taco Tuesday, they had their deals going on. I ordered the Tacos Al Pastor Combo Plate and a side of papa loka. The al pastor tacos were tasty and had a good marinade but I don't believe it was spit-grilled. They also didn't include pineapple. Nonetheless, I was still happy with the tacos. They had generously packed a bunch of cabbage, cilantro and onion, and some other traditional fixings. As for the papa loka, while good, I don't think I'd reorder it again. Come support small and local! This is a great spot to grab a quick bite. They have some seating inside but I wouldn't make this place a hangout for a group or anything.

This hot dog from Dogos Y Tacos El Gordo is amazing and delicious I would come back for sure.

The quality really stands out--especially the homemade tortillas, which take everything to the next level. The al pastor and carne asada are both incredible, packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also love that the al pastor is cooked authentically on a spit, which really adds to the flavor and experience. There's also a great variety of options on the menu, so there's something for everyone. Service is consistently quick, even when it's busy, which makes it a great spot whether you're grabbing a quick meal or sitting down to enjoy your food. Their Taco Tuesday deal is also a huge win--great value without sacrificing quality, and it keeps us coming back regularly. And the salsa deserves its own shoutout--absolutely incredible! It's packed with flavor and honestly good enough that you could enjoy it on its own. It really takes everything to the next level. If you're looking for authentic-style tacos with great flavor, fresh ingredients, fast service, and awesome specials, Tacos Tijuana is a must-visit. Easily one of my top spots in the area!

Update: the owner messaged me and told me to buy an entire chicken. Uh, maybe put some chicken in the chicken burrito? Update #2: The owner sure does like to argue with the customer back and forth. Now, he proposed that I order from Chipotle instead since they fail to give customer what one paid for. Update #3: The owner still going back and forth with me and now claiming I did not pay for the burritos. Not really sure what he means by that. Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
