I ordered the chorizo burrito and it comes with potatoes, egg, and cheese. It was quite large. It made two meals out of that one burrito for me and I know it was fresh. She was really hot when I got home and the price wasn't too bad. I think I paid 950 for the burrito like I said I got two meals out of it. The lady that helped me at the drive-through was very kind and patient when I couldn't understand her really thick accent, but she was very sweet. I end up here at least once a week. One, because they are open 24 hours. So whether I'm hungry from a night out at the bars or I wake up super early before most restaurants are open, Rolberto's is always there. The variety of burritos available is amazing and I haven't had one food item here that I didn't love. The Arizona and California burritos are my fave though. And the horchata. *chef's kiss* It's a drive through but there is also a super cute little patio where you can order through the window and people watch until your food is ready. Rolbertos Restaurant This was my very first visit to Rolbertos. Years ago I was doing some business one day across the street and it was taking some time. So for an hour or so I watched all of the people coming in and out of Rolbertos and I could even smell the amazing smells across the street. I thought I need to try that place, it is packed and has a constance of people driving through and eating out side. One could judge the area around the restaurant or even the small older building and choose to not order a taco here. If you do that, you are the one missing out. This restaurant may really go with the saying, don't judge a book by its cover. This is why driving quick by a place and not turning in because it is not a new shiny modern building, is that you miss out. Rolbertos Crispy Beef Taco Review Appearance = 1.8 / 2 - It looked like a great crispy beef taco. It was not beat up, just looked like it needed to be eaten immediately. Tortilla = 1.9 / 2 - Wowzers! It looked great, but amazingly enough the shell was better than it looked. The tortilla appeared to look and feel about normal for a crispy taco, but it succeed most regular crispy tacos. Meat / filling = 1.9 / 2 - Perfect! Just right! Great tasting beef. Ya, I would like tomatoes on it. Not sure I would actually have the room in my stomach, but other casual dining and take out places don't have tomatoes. I don't want to add anything when I am odering tacos right now, I want them the way the come. Well except I say no onions, which usually does not apply to crispy tacos. Sauce = 1.9 / 2 - Appearances do not apply to Rolbertos. The sauce was very thin and a light red color. Just a different consistently than I am use to or have come to expect. I looked at it and thought no thanks. It was not vinegary as so many of Take out Taco Restaurants seem to be. It was not too spicy and had just the right flavor to compliment the rest of the taco. The red sauce was just right. Don't forget to add the red sauce. Value = 1.9 / 2 $2.60 - Again I have come to most Taco Shop take out places the tacos are typically over $3 and closer to $4. Under $3. It is a great value. I am good with the price, but it should probably be $3.50. In this case for the Crispy Fried Taco at Rolbertos Restaurant you get more than you pay for as far as value goes. Total Score 9.4 / 10 Rolbertos Ambiance = 2 / 10 - When the drive thru window was open and the girl in the window was making my tacos, the amazing smells from their kitchen filled my car. Their outdoor seating was closed, and I ate in my car. That is not your typical Ambiance, but it is not why I came here. It is all about the tacos. Service = 8 / 10 - In a few minutes I had fresh amazing tacos in my hands. I received friendly, quick and accurate service. I have gone back 3 times and took my whole family and had a cheap dinner for 7 from$25-$30. Each of the 3 times the tacos were consistently good. Go to Rolbertos and get the crispy beef tacos. The chicken had no flavor there were no beans and it was just plain. I ordered a veggie burrito at 1:20am and it was amazing! It had beans, rice, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo, ect and it tasted fresh and was filled with flavor. I asked the guy at the drive thru for the hottest hot sauce and he gave me the red one. That sauce has to be of the best sauces I've had in years. My friends and I found ourselves venturing for food in Mesa right before a concert. We had decided on the trip up to stop at Adrian's because it looked like a dive we'd love. When got there, Adrian's was closed (I think for good?), so it was back on the road for some impromptu decisions. As we were nearing Mesa Amphitheatre, one friend yelled out, "Turn left here!" And so we did as we pulled into the parking lot at Rolbertos. My first impression, perfect. Rolbertos is nothing but a very small building consisting of an order window and a kitchen with a small patio to the side, the quintessential dive. Their menu is off to the side by the street on what looks like a drive-thru menu board. They have combo plates, individual orders, sides, and drinks. Out of everything they had, 2 tacos stood out to me: the lengua and the cabeza. As a newbie in the Southwest, I had yet to try these two meats, and I knew that Rolbertos would be the first. The 4 of us ordered, and our dishes came out at the same time with a relatively short wait time. After we took our first bites, we all agreed that we made an awesome decision in stopping here. It was exactly what you would want from a place like this. Even though I've never had lengua or cabeza before, I knew that they were out of this world! This place is absolutely disgusting. Please dont waste your time or money. If you like eating flies and maggots then this is the perfect place for you. I got their rolled tacos. Took one bite and then there was a dead fried fly holding on for dear life to the taco. I immediately called them to let them know and ask for my money back and she told me I wasnt getting my money back and hung up on me three times. She told me I was lying so I had no choice but to take it back to the restaurant. While staying in Mesa for business, I found this little gem and decided to give it a shot! It was within walking distance from my hotel and I was craving real taqueria food...a breakfast burrito to be exact. All the other places in the area had terrible reviews except for this one. The menu was vast and although the building was small, the breakfast burrito I ordered was massive!!! Not to me mention, delicious!!! The hot sauces were even tasty! The green sauce was too spicy for me but the red sauce was just right! The kitchen and order taking area were clean and the staff was friendly! I'm sad I didn't eat here more! ALSO, now that I've fully fallen into the dark world of tacos, Rolberto's has some of the ABSOLUTE BEST Carnitas, and Adobada in the area... Where as most similar places of this type serve an obviously processed, previously frozen iteration of carnitas and adobada, Rolberto's seems far more genuine and homemade. This is my go to fast Mexican food place. They are open late, always friendly and have good fresh food. I've never gotten anything bad here. No inside seating so I usually go through the drive-thru in summer months but when it is cooler the patio is nice. Light rail construction is finishing up in front of them which has had to hurt their business but now it is easy to get in and out. Their prices are very reasonable as well. read more
